Jerozolimskie 53; 00-697 Warszawa tel. +4822 323 73 10 contact: Agata Szybieniecka PR specialist [email protected] Press release Warsaw, 25 May 2006 Dziennik is hot on the podium’s heals The third time in a row Gazeta Wyborcza was classified as a leader of the ranking of the most opinion-forming media elaborated by the Institute of Media Monitoring. Remaining places on the podium are taken by Rzeczpospolita and Życie Warszawy, which are directly followed by Dziennik. The new daily has already outrun other tabloids and business dailies although it has been in print since April 18. In April the analysis was made on the basis of 4530 press cuttings, as well as radio and TV programs published and broadcasted between 1 and 30 April 2006. The journalists referred to news spread by other media as many as 5654 times (2185 times in press, 2222 on TV and 1247 on the radio). Gazeta Wyborcza became April leader of the ranking of quotations already for the third month in a row. In April, Gazeta was quoted 1258 times, which means it outperformed Rzeczpospolita by 300 publications. High position of Gazeta Wyborcza in the ranking has been secured by reference information in the context of press reviews, Polish politics, rankings and surveys, economic issues and a scandal linked to the collection of money for Stocznia Gdańska by Catholic radio station Radio Maryja (RM) (there was also an issue of investing NFI participation certificates on the stock market on behalf of RM audience and losing the securities). The fourth place was taken by Dziennik (348 publications), which makes its debut in the ranking. The new daily was ranked high although it appeared on the market only April 18. The daily owes its position to an extensively discussed scandal concerning Paweł Piskorski. Gazeta Wyborcza also prevailed in the ranking of the most frequently quoted media other than press reviews.
