Karen Lynn Pencak & Norman Daniel Vail St. Mary of Czestochowa Sunday Collection : October 21, 2007 PARISH WIGILIA CELEBRATION Our Annual Parish Wigilia (Vigil) will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the European Chalet Banquet Hall, which is located at 5445 S. Harlem Avenue, Chicago, IL. The celebration begins with a Mass at 11:00am; followed by a delicious Polish Meal, singing and dancing. Tickets for this event are $30 per adult and $15 for children under 12 yrs. of age. Tickets will be on sale every Sunday until November 25th after the 5pm, 7:30am, 9:00am and 10:30am Masses. Tickets can also be purchased at the rectory during office hours. In conjunction with the celebration of our Parish Wigilia we are inviting all parishioners to participate in our WIGILIA CASH RAFFLE by purchasing the raffle tickets enclosed in today’s bulletin for $1.00 each or $5.00 per raffle page. Please complete the information and enclose your tickets in an envelope together with payment for the tickets you purchase and drop your envelope in the Sunday Collection basket or bring it to the rectory during office hours. You do not have to be present at the Wigilia to win! The prizes will be “Split the Pot” – the number of prizes will depend on the amount collected for the raffle tickets. The members of our St. Mary’s English Choir will be selling the Opłatki (Christmas wafers) during the Christmas season. Dates of availability will be listed in next month’s bulletin. In the Polish tradition of sharing an opłatek wafer, family members and friends break off a small piece of the wafer and give it to one another along with a blessing. Breaking off and exchanging part of the wafer with someone is a symbol of forgiveness between two people and is meant to remind participants of the importance of Christmas, God, and family. Catholics forestall that last death by seeing the faithful dead as members of the Church, alive in Christ, and by praying for them and asking their prayers for us - always. Though we should daily pray for the Poor Souls in Purgatory, above all for our ancestors, ALL SOULS DAY, November 2nd is especially set aside for hanging that “unfailing lamp before the sepulchres of our dead. If you would like to remember the deceased members of your family in a special way, please take an All Souls Day envelope that can be found at all entrances of the church. List the names of the dead, place your offering in the envelope and return it in the collection basket or bring it to the rectory office during office hours. Your loved ones will be remembered in prayer throughout the month of November and also throughout the year . The next Religious Education (CCD) class will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007. X-TRA HOUR October 28, 2007 All Saints Day Means Holiness for All By : Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Ph.D A reflection on the meaning of theFeast or Solemnity of All Saints, November 1 in the Roman Catholic Calendar, otherwise known as All Saints Day. Taken from Crossroadsinitiative.com/library. At age 16, I thought that aspiring to holiness was out of the question. If you really wanted to be holy, I thought, you had to be a priest, nun, or brother. And you had to spend your days doing religious stuff like praying, preaching, teaching catechism, or serving the poor. But I had developed an interest in the opposite sex and was headed toward a career in music. So I was disqualified. The best I could hope for was to avoid breaking the 10 commandments, get to confession when I failed, not miss Mass on Sunday and toss a few bucks in the collection each week. That way, I could at least make it to heaven after a stay in Purgatory. But true sanctity, that was out of my reach. If holiness were about marital status or what you did for a living, I would have been right.. But the Second Vatican Council made very clear that my assumptions were wrong. Holiness is not about what you do but with how much love you do it. Holiness is really the perfection of faith, hope, and sharing in God’s very nature, which is love (I John 4:8). We are talking about a special kind of love here, the love that gives freely of itself to another, that even lays down its own priorities, interests, and very life, for another. So is holiness difficult to attain? No. It is impossible. At least on our own steam. But that’s the thrill of it all. God invites us into an intimate relationship with Him through Jesus. He takes up residence within us and makes it possible to love with His love. Grace is the love of God that comes into our hearts as a free, undeserved gift and enables us to be like God. So that means spending all our time in chapel? No it means doing daily, ordinary things with extraordinary love. The Virgin Mary, our greatest example of holiness, was a housewife and a mother. Jesus and his foster father, St. Joseph, apparently spent most of their lives doing manual labor. But when Mary did the wash, she did it for love When Joseph made a table, he did it for love. When hardship and danger threatened, they met it with faith, hope, and love. So holiness is for every baptized person, regardless of personality type, career, age, race, or marital status. In baptism, we are all reborn with the spiritual muscles necessary to get us across the finish line. Yet these muscles must be nourished and exercised if they are ever to develop and carry us the full distance. God provides the necessary nourishment in the Word of God and the Eucharist. And he sends us ample opportunities to exercise. But there’s the rub-many of us don’t want to exert ourselves. It can be uncomfortable. We stretch a bit to finish school, to excel at sports, to win the heart of the love of our lives. But when it comes to the things of the Spirit, we often settle with being couch potatoes. Leon Bloy, a French Catholic writer, once said “the only tragedy in life is not to become a saint!” Holiness is about realizing our deepest, greatest potential, becoming who we were truly destined to be! What a shame it would be to miss it.! Al fin y al cabo ¿un santo no es sino aquel que mejor nos hace comprender, ver y entender la presencia de Dios en medio de nosotros? Muchos, sin ser conscientes de ello, fueron testigos nítidos y vivos de Dios. Nunca soñaron con formar parte de esa muchedumbre de santos que hoy llena el horizonte de esta fiesta. Hoy, la Iglesia, ve en ellos la mano poderosa de Dios. Los signos más clarividentes de que el camino de las bienaventuranzas es posible cuando se tienen las cosas claras. Cuando se confía en Dios. Cuando se antepone el servicio a los demás a los de uno mismo. Cuando se pone el corazón más en Dios que en el dioshombre. La festividad de Todos los Santos es cantar la grandeza de un Dios que nos indica un sendero para alcanzar la felicidad auténtica. Aquellos la creyeron a ojos cerrados. La trabajaron con manos generosas. La amaron a corazón abierto. Entendieron, que la felicidad que Jesús les prometía, era en todo superior a los pequeños sorbos de aquella otra más efímera y engañosa. ATENCIÓN: FAMILIAS DE LA ESCUELA Y FAMILIAS DE LOS ESTUDIANTES QUE ATIENDEN A NUESTRO PROGRAMA DE LA EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA (CCD) DE LA PARROQUIA Como católicos, la celebración de Masa es lo central de nuestra fe y su presencia en ella es la parte vital de la vida de nuestra parroquia de Santa Maria de Czestochowa. La participación en la Misa es esencial en el proceso de crecimiento en la fe católica. Las metas para enviar los niños a una escuela católica o a las clases de religión es despertar la necesidad de estar con Dios por medio de oración y la Eucaristía, en otras palabras practicar la fe. Comenzando con este mes de octubre de 2007, la escuela y el programa de la educación católica (CCD) entra en proceso de revisión de la presencia de las familias en la Misa. Otras parroquias ya lo están haciendo actualmente. Las formas de asistencia se proporcionan en la entrada de la iglesia. Las familias de nuestra escuela, incluyendo niños, debe utilizar la forma de color verde y las familias de la educación católica (CCD), incluyendo niños, deben utilizar la forma de color azul. Estas formas deben ser llenadas en principio de la Misa y ser colocadas en la canasta de la colecta dominical durante la masa. Powiadam wam: Ten odszedł do domu usprawiedliwiony, nie tamten. Każdy bowiem, kto się wywyższa, będzie poniżony, a kto się uniża, będzie wywyższony. Niezależnie od tego, czy Państwa ofiara była mała, czy duża, to w połączeniu z ofiarami tysięcy innych parafian z terenu Archidiecezji, każda darowana kwota ma znaczący wpływ na możliwości Archidiecezji w zakresie oferowania posług duszpasterskich i innych usług. Raz jeszcze pragniemy podziękować za Waszą ofiarność. Wypominki Zbliża się miesiąc listopad. W tym czasie będziemy wspominali wszystkich wiernych zmarłych. Koperty na wypominki znajdują się przy drzwiach kościoła. Prosimy o wyraźne wypisanie imion i nazwisk wiernych zmarłych. Koperty można składać do koszyka wraz z niedzielną kolekta. Msze św. w tych intencjach zostaną odprawione dnia 2 listopada jak również w ciągu całego roku. 28 października 2007 Uroczystość Wszystkich Świętych Najpierw przedmiotem kultu stała się Najświętsza Maryja Panna jako Matka Wcielonego Słowa. Jej wizerunki spotykamy już w katakumbach z wieku III, siedzącą na tronie i otoczoną aureolą, co świadczy dowodowo o kulcie. Osobny sobór powszechny odbył się w obronie Boskiego Macierzyństwa Maryi (431). Od tego to czasu ku Jej czci stawiano kościoły, urządzano pielgrzymki do łaskami słynących obrazów; Kościół ustanawiał święta ku Jej czci i układał liturgiczne modlitwy oraz pieśni. Wiek przedtem święci Efrem († 373), św. Atanazy († 373) i wielu innych wysławiało Matkę Bożą wierszem i prozą. W tym samym czasie daje się zauważyć w Kościele kult aniołów. Św. Michał Archanioł miał swoje sanktuaria już w początkach chrześcijaństwa, do których licznie podążali wierni. Krwawe prześladowania Kościoła, którym początek dali Żydzi palestyńscy, a w cesarstwie Neron (w. I), rozbudziły także kult do męczenników. Rocznice ich męczeńskiej śmierci obchodzono rokrocznie, a ich groby nawiedzali wierni. Dzień ich zgonu uważano za dzień ich narodzin w niebie. Dlatego jako przyjaciołom Boga oddawano kult liturgiczny, który w wieku V z ruchu spontanicznego, prywatnego, przerodził się w kult aprobowany, urzędowy. Od wieku IV datuje się także kult wyznawców: Ojców Apostolskich, Ojców Kościoła, świętych biskupów, pustelników, ascetów, świętych dziewic i pokutnic. Ponieważ świętych męczenników było bardzo wielu — może większość z nich stanowili bohaterowie bezimienni — dlatego w Kościele antiocheńskim już w wieku IV pierwszą niedzielę po Zielonych Świętach poświęcono ich czci i pamięci. Na zachodzie papież Bonifacy IV, 13 maja 608 roku, starożytny panteon, rzymską świątynię pogańską ku czci wszystkich, zwłaszcza nieznanych bóstw, poświęcił czci Matce Bożej i świętym męczennikom. W wieku VIII zmieniono tytuł, rozszerzając go: ku czci Matki Bożej, męczenników i wszystkich sprawiedliwych. Papież Jan XI w roku 935 ustanowił osobne święto ku czci Wszystkich Świętych, wyznaczając je na dzień 1 listopada. Świątynia ta istnieje do dnia dzisiejszego w Rzymie, chociaż nie przypomina w niczym blaskiem świątyni pierwotnej. Tak więc tajemnica dnia dzisiejszego przypomina nam przede wszystkim tych Świętych Pańskich, którzy nie mają swoich osobnych dni w roku liturgicznym, rzeszę „nieznanych żołnierzy” Bożych. A muszą być ich niezliczone zastępy, skoro św. Jan Apostoł pisze, ze nie mógł ich nikt zliczyć — „z każdego narodu i wszystkich pokoleń, ludów i języków” (Ap 7,9). Uwaga – Zmiana Czasu !!! Przypominamy, że w niedziele 4-go listopada o godzinie 2:00AM zmieniamy czas. Wskazówki zegarka należy cofnąć o godzinę. Parafia Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej Odbiór TV TRWAM i Radia Maryja z Satelity Americom- 4 (AMC-4). Od listopada 2003 roku można odbierać programy Radia Maryja i Telewizji TRWAM na terenie Stanów Zjednoczonych i Kanady. Jak chodzi o Radio Maryja, to „obecne” jest ono już kilka lat na ziemi amerykańskiej. Natomiast TV TRWAM, która powstała przy Radiu Maryja, to „nowość” na rynku mediów. Tu w Ameryce, podobnie jak i w Polsce jest Telewizją niekodowaną (free TV). Aby odbierać programy Radia Maryja i TV TRWAM należy zaopatrzyć się w zestaw satelitarny (receiver i dish) umożliwiający odbiór telewizji niekodowanej (free TV), np. Fortec Star. Te zestawy są do nabycia w Centrali Radia Maryja. Następnie zainstalować zestaw i ustawić receiver na parametry odbioru telewizji TRWAM. Parametry odbioru są następujące: Satelita AMC-4 (101º W) Frequency-12120 Symbol Rate (SR)-30000 Polarization-Vertical FEC-3/4 Po ustawieniu dish w kierunku satelity AMC-4 (101 ) i osiągnięciu najsilniejszego sygnału (bliskiego 100 %) na receiver, wg. załączonej instrukcji obsługi, dokonać „channel search” – wyszukiwania kanałów. Po wyszukaniu kanałów na kanałach telewizyjnych znajdziemy TV TRWAM, a na kanałach radiowych-RADIO MARYJA. Życzymy dobrego odbioru. Prasa Katolicka Tak jak w każdą niedzielę tak również i dzisiaj wychodząc z kościoła można nabyć nowy numer Tygodnika Katolickiego „Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na temat życia kościoła w Polsce także naszej Archidiecezji. Czytając ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje np.: „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
