Cele przedmiotu
Cel 1 This course will introduce cultural diplomacy as a sub-area of public diplomacy. Students will be engaged
with the keys issues in cultural diplomacy past and present. Possibilities and limits of cultural diplomacy
will be discussed. This course will examine institutions, methods and major issues in cultural diplomacy.
It will combine a historical perspective with the study of contemporary applications of cultural diplomacy.
Main aspects of cultural diplomacy include culture, popular culture, diplomacy, advertisement, exchange and
mutuality. The cases of using of art, sport, music and food in diplomacy will be discussed.

1 General knowledge of diplomatic history in the 20th century.

Modułowe efekty kształcenia
MW1 Graduates of this course will acquired the knowledge about methods and instruments of cultural diplomacy.
He/she will consider key examples of using cultural diplomacy by public diplomacy.
MU2 Graduates will be introduced to the techniques and skills applied in international and diplomatic relations
and necessary in diplomatic and public service.
MK3 Students will be familiarized with the techniques and instruments of diplomacy and the possibilities of using
elements of culture in creating countrys image and carrying on states policy.
MK4 Graduates will be able to use these techniques in the context of communication,negotiation, functioning and
establishing relations.

1 Written exam and overall attendance will be accounted for the final grade. Each student must present an
oral case study of a particular instance of cultural diplomacy. Students will prepare two case studies engaging
developing issues.
