SURPRISES
Life is full of surprises, some pleasant, some not.
The scriptures are filled with stories of God’s surprises cropping up when they are least expected:
younger children obtaining the inheritance; the lowliest being seated highest up; an itinerant preacher,
killed like a criminal, exalted to eternal, heavenly
glory.
Anybody who has planned a wedding or similar
event knows that they are filled with opportunities
for surprises. For the bridegroom in today’s Gospel
story, who has no direct contact with Jesus, the
pleasant surprise came because somebody else paid
attention and had faith in Jesus.
We may think that the point of today’s familiar
story of the wedding at Cana is that when we have
faith in Jesus, our lives will be pleasantly changed.
A Christian, however, needs to have a broader perspective and realize that to have faith in Christ
means that somebody’s life—not necessarily our
own—will be surprised for the better.
Thank you to all parishioners for
their generous donations this
Christmas!
We are extremely indebted to some
wonderful parishioners who made outstanding gifts to the parish this year.
Our Christmas collection (to date) :
$105,782.00
Lectors & Eucharistic Ministers
Were you a Lector or Eucharistic
Minister at one of the former parishes?
We would welcome your continued
ministry! Please contact the Parish
Office. We will help you find a comfortable place in the Ministry Schedule.
Catholic Charities Clothing Bin
You may have noticed the white clothing bins in
our parking area behind the convent and beside
Madonna Hall.
These were installed last year by Catholic
Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
The clothing items are processed and passed on
to their thrift stores for the benefit of people in
need. Any money generated by the items is
given directly to programs for the homeless.
Last Fall, our donations generated $ 833.00.
This money was used to purchase metal frame
beds for their homeless shelter in Newark.
Do You Have extra clean and unused clothing?
Why not donate it for the benefit of others?
Shoes and small appliances are also welcome!
The Poor will Bless You!
YOUR BEST
Give to the world the best you have
and the best will come back to you.

WSPOMNIENIE
ŚWIĘTEJ
AGNIESZKI,
DZIEWICY
I MĘCZENNICY
21 stycznia
Agnieszka była w
starożytności chrześcijańskiej jedną z najbardziej
popularnych
świętych. Jako 12-letnia
dziewczynka,
pochodząca ze starego rodu,
miała ponieść męczeńską śmierć na stadionie Domicjana
około 305 roku.
Według przekazów, o r ękę Agnieszki, któr a
złożyć miała wcześniej ślub czystości, rywalizowało
wielu zalotników, a wśród nich pewien młody rzymski
nowomianowanym arcybiskupom - metropolitom
Kościoła katolickiego.
