A message from Karen Tross, president...The May
meeting of the St. Mary’s Women’s Club has been
cancelled. It will be re-scheduled for some time
during the month of June. The exact date for the
June meeting will be posted in the church bulletin.

The feast of Corpus Christi is one time when
our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is exposed
not just to faithful Catholics but to all the world.
This is a time when Catholics can show their
love for Christ in the Real Presence by honoring
Him in a very public way. It is also a wonderful
way in which we can show our love for our
neighbors by bringing Our Lord and Savior
closer to them.
Next Sunday, May 25th, the celebration of Corpus Christi will be
celebrated in our parish after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. . After the Mass
the Blessed Sacrament is placed in the monstrance. The priest
then carries Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament to four different
altars representing the four corners of the earth. While processing,
the congregation follows and sings. At each altar there are readings, prayers, and benediction
Everyone is invited to participate in the procession to honor our
Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The procession is expected to
begin around 11:30 a.m.
ARCHDIOCESE CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAY
AT THE CATHOLIC CEMETERIES
A Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 26,
2008 at 10:30 a.m. at all of Archdiocesan major cemeteries and
surrounding Parish cemeteries. Please check the Catholic New
World for the list of celebrants and cemeteries near you.
“Miles Jesu, an Institute for Consecrated Life, will hold a Summer
Camp for girls ages 10-16 in Dixon, Illinois this June 28 –July 5.
At this overnight camp with lodging in cabins, girls will enjoy canoeing, swimming, archery, hayrides, sports, arts & crafts, dancing and many other activities. Girls will also receive spiritual formation through Daily Mass, spiritual talks, Rosary, opportunity for
prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and for confession. Cost,
which includes room, board, and activities, is $275 for the first
family member and $205 for subsequent members of the same
immediate family. Many previous camp participants have called

Annual Catholic Appeal Update
There is GOOD NEWS to report.! As of
April 23, 2008, we have surpassed our
Annual Catholic In-Pew Pledge Goal of
$20,653 by $600! The total amount in
actual payments is $21,253. Now our
goal of $20.653 will be matched in full by
the archdiocese which means that our
parish debt will be decreased by
$41,306! The total amount pledged by
our parishioners was $38,518. The balance due after subtracting
$21,253 from $38,518 is $17,265. If this amount will be paid in full,
our parish debt will be further reduced by $17,265. Please pray for
the continued success of our parish’s Annual Catholic Appeal
Fund. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have met the amount due
on their pledge. . May God reward your generosity!

Sunday, May 18 –The Most Holy Trinity
John 3:16-18
God so loved the world that he gave….
(John 3:16)
Let’s stop right there. Sometimes these
words can become too familiar and they roll
by on the page without eliciting any new
thought. But the greatest mystery of the universe is that God
gave– and he gave and he gave some more. In fact he gave everything so that we could be with him. That’s how much he loves
us!
This is the real mystery that we celebrate today. This is a day to
rejoice in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who love us! It’s a day
to rejoice in the very personal love that God has for each one of
us-a love that will never abandon us. God has held nothing back.
He invites us, weak and sinful human beings, to share completely
in his divine life. And he has moved heaven and earth to make it
possible! What an amazing lover and a most generous giver!
John’s Gospel tells us that God has given us the Holy Spirit to
guide us into all truth by revealing the mysteries of the gospel to
our hearts. The Holy Spirit takes what he hears from the Father
and the Son and reveals it to us in a personal, life-giving way
(John 16:12-15). And this is not just a passing on of information.
The Spirit works in such a way as to bring us into an experience of
the Trinity. His revelation always lifts our hearts, fills us with joy
and gives us confidence that we are God’s beloved children.
At Mass today, ask for a deeper revelation of the Trinity, a revelation of the love that gave everything so that we could be with him.
Expect God to fill you with his divine life and give you a deeper
taste of his love.

Holy Spirit, for your amazing love. How incredible that you would
give so much just for us. We praise you for revealing yourself to us
and for filling us with your grace. Lord, we praise and glorify you!”

On MEMORIAL DAY, which will be celebrated by our nation
on Monday, May 26, there will be only one Mass celebrated in
our church. This Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Please
come to pray for our veterans and for those men and women
serving in the Military.

Lord and Holy Protector, You called Abraham and Sarah to
leave their homeland and to journey away from their own people. Yet you kept them safe wherever they went. Protect our
children, our husbands and wives, our mothers and fathers,
our friends and loved ones who now are fighting this war in
the Middle East. Be their companion and guide their thoughts.
Encircle them with your light, and keep them from harm. And
when their service is ended, lead them safely home again.
For you, O God, are our shelter in every storm and our refuge
in times of danger. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Mes de mayo dedicado
a la Virgen María
La Iglesia dedica a la Virgen María
el mes de Mayo para conocer mejor
sus virtudes y amarla más. Son muchas las virtudes de la Virgen y podemos aprovechar este mes para crecer en alguna de ellas.
Se trata de que nos esforcemos por
vivir como hijos suyos. Esto significa:
• Mirar a María como a una madre: Platicarle todo lo
que nos pasa: lo bueno y lo malo. Saber acudir a
ella en todo momento.
• Demostrarle nuestro cariño: Hacer lo que ella espera de nosotros y recordarla a lo largo del día.
• Confiar plenamente en ella: Todas las gracias que
Jesús nos da, pasan por las manos de María, y es
ella quien intercede ante su Hijo por nuestras dificultades.
• Imitar sus virtudes: Esta es la mejor manera de demostrarle nuestro amor.
• Rezar en familia las oraciones especialmente dedicadas a María.

nuevo año de 2008/2009 se realizarán el día jueves 12 de Agosto

La Santísima Trinidad
El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad consiste en que Dios es
uno solo y en Él hay tres Personas: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.
El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad nos ha sido revelado por la
Persona, palabras y acciones de Jesucristo. Después de haber
hablado por los Profetas, Dios envió a su Hijo, Jesucristo, quien
nos dio la Buena Nueva de la salvación. Este es el mensaje de l
18 de Mayo de 2008
Nuevo Testamento. Con
sus palabras y acciones, y
especialmente en su sagrada Persona, Jesús nos dio a
conocer las más profundas
verdades acerca de Dios.
La Trinidad es el misterio
más profundo.
Jesús nos ha revelado los
secretos del Reino de los Cielos. La suprema de sus enseñanzas
es el secreto de Dios mismo. Nos ha hablado de la vida de Dios.
Nos enseñó que Dios, siendo uno solo, hay en El tres Personas
iguales. Nos dijo sus nombres: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.
Jesucristo se presentó a Sí mismo como el eterno y divino Hijo
de Dios. Afirmó que es el Hijo, el Unigénito del Padre, igual al
Padre.
Jesús nos reveló más plenamente al Padre. Siempre hablaba de
su Padre llamándole por este nombre. Nos enseñó a amar a
nuestro Padre celestial porque nos ama. Él quiere ayudarnos en
todas las necesidades de alma y cuerpo. Quiere llevar a sus
hijos a su hogar del Cielo.
Jesús reveló la tercera Persona divina, el Espíritu Santo. El Padre y el Hijo, después de la Resurrección, lo enviaron a la Iglesia. Jesús había prometido enviar la tercera Persona, Dios igual
que El mismo y el Padre.
Jesús, el Divino Maestro, habló a sus discípulos acerca del verdadero Dios y los llamó a ser hijos de Dios por el don del Espíritu.
Honramos a la Santísima Trinidad siempre que tomamos conciencia de que Dios Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo están presentes
en nuestra alma. Le honramos asimismo cuando tratamos de
entender con la ayuda de la fe que por el Bautismo estamos
llamados a íntima unión de amor con las tres divinas Personas.
También la iconografía cristiana tradujo de mil maneras este
mismo pensamiento. Hasta el siglo XII a Dios Padre se le representó por una mano, que sale de las nubes y bendice. En esa
mano se significa la divina omnipotencia. En los siglos XIII y
XIV se ve ya la cara y luego el busto del Padre, en el cual desde
el siglo XV es representado como un venerable anciano vestido
con ornamentos papales.
Hasta el siglo XII Dios Hijo fue primero representado por una
cruz, por un cordero o bien por un gallardo joven semejante al
Apolo de los gentiles. Desde el siglo XII al XVI vemos ya representado a Cristo en la plenitud de la edad y con barba. A
partir del siglo XIII lleva la cruz y también aparece en figura de
cordero.
Al Espíritu Santo se le representó a lo primero por una paloma,
cuyas alas extendidas tocaban a veces la boca del Padre y del
Hijo, para demostrar cómo procede de entrambos. Ya desde el
siglo XI aparece con la figura de un niñito, por idéntico motivo.
En el siglo XIII es un adolescente y en el siglo XV un hombre
hecho y semejante al Padre y al Hijo, pero con una paloma sobre sí o en la mano, para distinguirle así de las otras dos divinas
personas. Mas desde el siglo XVI la paloma torna a asumir el
derecho exclusivo de representar al Espíritu Santo.
Para representar a la Trinidad se adoptó la figura del triángulo.
También el trébol sirvió para figurar el misterio de la Trinidad y
lo mismo tres círculos enlazados con la palabra Unidad en el
espacio central que queda libre por la intersección de los círculos.

Jezus powiedział do Nikodema: Tak Bóg umiłował
świat, że Syna swego Jednorodzonego dał, aby każdy, kto w Niego wierzy, nie zginął, ale miał życie
wieczne. Albowiem Bóg nie posłał swego Syna na
świat po to, aby świat potępił, ale po to, by świat został
przez Niego zbawiony. Kto wierzy w Niego, nie podlega potępieniu; a kto nie wierzy, już został potępiony,
bo nie uwierzył w imię Jednorodzonego Syna Bożego.
J 3,16-18
Miesiąc Maj!
W tradycji polskiej miesiąc maj jest poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W tym miesiącu składamy hołd Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając litanię loretańską do Matki Bożej jak
też rozważając tajemnice różańca świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym miesiącu czy to
w sposób prywatny czy też przez udział w nabożeństwie w
kościele tej pięknej tradycji stało się zadość i abyśmy potrafili żyć tak jak żyła Maryja Matka Chrystusa.
W naszym kościele litania będzie śpiewana 15 minut przed
rozpoczęciem Mszy św.
Czuwanie Nocne
Zapraszamy na czuwanie nocne
połączone z nabożeństwem wynagradzającym Najświętszemu Sercu Pana Jezusa i Niepokalanemu
Sercu Maryi, które będzie miało
miejsce w naszej parafii w czwartą sobotę miesiąca tj. 24-go maja
w godzinach od 7.00 PM do 9.50 PM.
W czasie czuwania można będzie skorzystać z sakramentu pokuty. Serdecznie zapraszamy na wspólną modlitwę.
Trójca Święta
Wiara w jednego Boga w trzech Osobach jest jednym z najbardziej specyficznych elementów chrześcijaństwa. Żadna inna
religia tej tajemnicy nie podaje do wierzenia. Istnienie Trójcy
Świętej jest dogmatem naszej wiary. Samym ludzkim rozumem
nie doszlibyśmy do tej prawdy. Objawił nam to Jezus Chrystus.
Jest wiele miejsc, na których Pan Jezus mówi o swoim Ojcu
jako odrębnej Osobie-Bogu. Można przytoczyć kilkadziesiąt
miejsc w Ewangeliach, gdzie jest mowa o Duchu Świętym jako
równym Ojcu i Synowi i jako o odrębnej od nich Osobie. Gdy
archanioł zwiastuje Maryi, że zostanie Matką, Ewangelista wyraźnie zaznacza, że to Bóg go posłał, aby Jej zwiastować, iż
porodzi Syna Bożego - i że stanie się to za sprawą Ducha Świętego (Łk 1, 30-35).
Prawda o tajemnicy Trójcy Przenajświętszej jest dla nas o tyle
istotna, że przedstawia Pana Boga, jakim jest sam w sobie. Pan
Bóg jest jeden w swojej naturze, ale w trzech osobach. Osoby
Boskie różnią się między sobą rzeczywiście tak, że jedna osoba

nie jest osobą drugą. Nie różnią się
jednak naturą ani też przymiotami,
ani też działaniem, które jest wspólne. Mają wspólną naturę Bożą,
wszystkie przymioty i działania Boże.
Osoby różnią się między sobą jedynie
pochodzeniem: Bóg Ojciec nie pochodzi od nikogo, Syn Boży pochodzi przez odwieczne i duchowe zrodzenie od Ojca, Duch Święty pochodzi przez wspólne tchnienie miłości
Ojca i Syna. Pierwszą osobę wyróżnia ojcostwo, drugą osobę - synostwo, a trzecią - pochodzenie od Ojca
i Syna. Tyle zdołała określić teologia
katolicka na podstawie tekstów Pisma
świętego i pism Ojców Kościoła.
Dla pogłębienia wśród wiernych nabożeństwa do Najświętszej
Trójcy Kościół w swoich modlitwach liturgicznych dodaje:
"Chwała Ojcu i Synowi i Duchowi Świętemu". Kościół we
wszystkich swoich modlitwach wzywa Boga w trzech Osobach:
każdą modlitwę liturgiczną kończy wezwaniem Trójcy Najświętszej. Modlitwę "Chwała Ojcu i Synowi, i Duchowi Świętemu" miał już wprowadzić Sobór Nicejski I w roku 325. Synod w Narbon (589) nakazał kapłanom każdy psalm kończyć tą

także w Liturgii Godzin. W wieku XII został założony zakon
trynitarzy dla uczczenia tej tajemnicy (w roku 1198). Jego fundatorami byli: św. Jan z Matha i św. Feliks Valois. Zatwierdził
ten zakon papież Innocenty III. Szczególnym czcicielem Trójcy
był św. Patryk (f ok. 461), apostoł Irlandii. Tajemnicę Trójcy
Przenajświętszej miał on tłumaczyć obrazem trójlistnej koniczyny. Do dnia dzisiejszego w jego święto (17 III) Irlandczycy
przypinają sobie do ubrania liść koniczyny.

Lockport, IL) dnia 1 czerwca br w „Dzień Dziecka” na godzinę 2PM. Msza Św. rozpocznie się o godzinie 2:15PM,
którą odprawią Ojcowie Redemptoryści posługujący w Parafii M.B. Częstochowskiej w Cicero. Po Mszy Św. będzie
poczęstunek.
Różaniec odmawiamy przez dzieci będzie na wozach, podczas jazdy furmankowej prowadzony przez siostry zakonne
z Parafii Św. Błażeja. Zapraszamy tym bardziej, gdyż ma to
być wszystko nagrywane do Telewizji Trwam.
Uwaga ! w razie deszczu wszystko zostanie odwołane do
następnego ogłoszenia.

Kurs przed Chrztem dziecka
Przypominamy, że w każdą trzecią niedzielę miesiąca w naszej
parafii po Mszy św. o godz.
10.30 odbywa się kurs przygotowujący rodziców i chrzestnych
do chrztu dziecka.
Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić
dziecko w naszej parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się na ten
kurs prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać, aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej
półtora miesiąca prze chrztem. (Aby uczestniczyć w
kursie przygotowującym)
► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt urodzenia
dziecka.

również i dzisiaj wychodząc z kościoła można nabyć nowy numer
Tygodnika Katolickiego
„Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na temat
życia kościoła w Polsce także
naszej Archidiecezji. Czytając
ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje np.: „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina
Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz
miłość do Boga i Kościoła.

„Katolik” wydawana przez naszą Archidiecezję
