Dear Parishioners,
On June 6 I begin my six month Sabbatical for prayer, rest and theological renewal. I will be in Europe for the
first two months on retreat in Spain, taking art classes in Florence, relaxing in Italy and attending the World
Youth Day in Krakow, Poland. After a brief time back in Chicago, visiting with my family, I will attend a
special three month Sabbatical program designed especially for priests near Berkeley, California. Please pray
for me as I will for you!
I'm confident that Father Piotr Rapcia and Father Piotr Samborski will do just fine handling the day to day
responsibilities and masses under the guidance of our neighbor Father Dennis O'Neill, Pastor of St. Martha. He
will serve as the temporary Administrator in my absence. Father Dennis will drop over to visit and give his
support on a regular basis while residing and continuing his full time duties at his own parish in Morton Grove.
Father Dennis, a colleague, and I have known each other since March, 1993 when I succeeded him at St.
Clotilde in the Chatham neighborhood on Chicago's South side. He has been a frequent visitor to St. John
Brebeuf, attending the Annual Gala and most recently for our 50th Anniversary of the Dedication of our
Church. Fr. Dennis and St. Martha Parish are good neighbors by supporting our school. Because he is the only
priest at St. Martha, he will not be saying mass here. Father Rapcia and Father Samborski have both gone over
to St. Martha to help him out by saying mass when he has been away and now he is returning the favor. Thank
you Fr. Dennis!
Fortunately, my cousin, Monsignor Vincent Haut, of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida will say mass here
from July 16—September 4th along with our regular extra priests – Father Patrick Marshall, Father Robert
Banzin, Pastor Emeritus and Father Jim Joslyn, CHC USN, Father Greg Lorens, Father Tom May, my predecessor often helps out when called upon doing funerals and weddings for long time parishioners and Father
Richard Fragomeni promised to help out too. We also receive help with confession from Fr. Ted Stone, Fr.
Adam Galek, Fr. Krzysztof Janczak, Fr. Wojciech Oleksy, Fr. Rafal Stecz and Fr. Marcin Zawada. Deacon
Mariusz Kosla, Deacon Andy Beierwaltes, and Deacon Pavel Jurkulak will give their support. Deacon Larry
Skaja, while on limited duty, said he too will help support in any way possible given his situation. The lay
staff are very capable and dedicated – Barbara Bronder, Charlotte Lindquist, Joe Wojtowicz, Maciek Karaban,
John Mazur, Elise Matson, Marek Rachelski and Pam Perez. They can handle things just fine in my absence!
Peace,
Father Mike Meany

Christ's followers were
skeptical when He preached
the reality of His Body and
Blood as food and drink. St.
John said, "many of His disciples withdrew and no longer
went about with Him."
Seeing this, Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do
you also want to leave me?" Simon Peter did
not understand any more than those who left
Christ, but his loyalty was more firm. "Lord,"
he said, "to whom shall we go? You have

Jesus’ words “This is my body” and
“This cup is the new covenant in my

Jesus twice said: “Do this in remembrance

ANNUAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY
Each year the Holy Name men’s clubs and
societies from all over the Chicago Archdiocese
(CAHNS) gather together and celebrate with a
procession and Mass. Our parish proudly hosted
this annual event last year for the second time,
one of the first to host it twice. We previously
held it here in 1997 when hundreds of men
attended.
We are encouraging all Holy Name and
Knights of Columbus men, as well as all other
men in the Parish, to attend this uplifting experience. This year’s Spiritual Assembly will be held
at St. Jane de Chantal Church, 5252 S. Austin,
Chicago, on Friday, June 17th. We are planning
to car-pool to St. Jane’s. We will gather in the
school parking lot at 5:15pm. The Mass will be at
7:00 preceded by a procession in the neighborhood. For more information, contact Mel
Koenigs, 847-966-2293 or Deacon Andy
Beierwaltes, 847-966-6961.
LOOKING AHEAD . . . . . . .
The annual Golf Outing hosted by the Holy
Name Men’s Club will be held on Sunday,
September 11, 2016, at White Pines Golf Course
in Bensenville. SAVE THE DATE! Watch the
Sunday bulletin for up-coming information.

Drodzy Parafianie,
Piotr Rapcia i Ks. Piotr Samborski będą pomyślnie sprawować codzienne obowiązki i
Ks. Dennis O’Neill
jest proboszczem w Św. Martha w Morton Grove. Będzie nas odwiedzać i wspierać naszą parafię.
Ks. Dennis i parafia Św.
Ks. Rapcia and Ks. Samborski odprawiali Msze Święte u Św. Marthy kiedy
Ks. Dennis był nieobecny, także teraz Ks. Dennis zwraca przysługę. Dziękujemy Ks. Dennis!
Mój kuzyn, Prałat Vincent Haut z archidiecezji St. Augustine, Florida, będzie odprawiać Msze Świete od
16-ego lipca do 4-tego września. Oprócz tego wiele innych stałych księży będzie odprawiać Msze ŚwięteKs. Patrick Marshall, Ks. Robert Banzin, Ks. Jim Joslyn CHC USN, Ks. Greg Lorens. Ks. Tom May, były
proboszcz, często pomaga kiedy są pogrzeby i wesela. Ks. Richard Fragomeni obiecał że będzie pomagać
kiedy będzie potrzeba. Diakon Mariusz Kosla, Diakon Andy Beierwaltes, Diakon Pavel Jurkulak, i
Biuro parafialne-Barbara Bronder, Charlotte Lindquist, Joe Wojtowicz, Maciek Karaban,
John Mazur, Elise Matson, Marek Rachelski, i Pam Perez- są zdolni i oddani. Będą oni prowadzić parafię
pomyślnie w czasie mojej nieobecności.
Sześć Boże,
Ks. Proboszcz Mike Meany

Totus Tuus łączy katechezę i zabawy !!! Młodość i energia nauczycieli jest godna do naśladowania;
przyjdź i dołącz do nas!!! Wszyscy są zaproszeni na tzw. Potluck Party, czyli kolację w środę o 5: 00 po
południu. Rejestracja jest dostępna za pośrednictwem biura parafialnego. Koszt to $ 45 dla młodszych
klas i $ 15 dla starszych. Uczestnicy programu zobowiązani są do przynoszenia jedzenia i rzeczy

5-tego czerwca-Dziesiąta Niedziela zwykła
W ewangelii widzimy jak Jezus został wzruszony litością mówiąc do wdowy „Nie płacz”, a
ludzie wiedzieli że „Bóg odwiedził swoich ludzi.”
Kiedy usłyszymy płacz biednych i potrzebujących, poprzez chrześcijańską miłość wyciągamy rękę
cierpiących i ubogich. Wszystkie informacje będą trzymane w ścisłej poufności.
