PANORAMA - FRANCE Alstom La Rochelle Centre of excellence for high and very high speed Asltom’s Aytré-La Rochelle site keeps alive a railway tradition that can be traced back to 1918. A major customer for local small and medium-sized companies, the site has also developed partnerships with the University and the city’s leading engineering school. Its size and employee numbers make it the leading industrial site in the department of Charentes and the second largest in the Poitou-Charentes region. The site is Alstom Transport’s global Centre of Product Excellence for the design of high and very high speed trains.
