Archiwum przy ul. Âw. Wojciecha 13 (daw. Wojciecha i Jagielloƒskiej wed∏ug projektu Konrada Kruhla. W czasie II wojny Êwiatowej mi´dzy 1942 a 1944 r. 80% zasobów archiwum szczeciƒskiego zosta∏o ewakuowane w obawie przed nalotami bombowymi. Po zakoƒczeniu wojny prawie 50% ewakuowanych archiwaliów wróci∏o do Szczecina. Cz´Êç zasobu trafi∏a do Greifswaldu, gdzie znajduje si´ do dnia dzisiejszego, cz´Êç uleg∏a zniszczeniu. The State Record Office at 13 St. Wojciech Street (former Karkutschstraße) The oldest mention of the Archive comes from the first half of the 16th century. The turbulent history of Pomerania resulted in the loss of some records, and numerous organisational changes within this institution. As an independent institution the Archive has existed since 1831, that is since the time when the Province Record Office for Pomerania was established (Provinzalarchiv für Pommern). It was located in Szczecin castle. The very modern seat of the Archive was erected according to the design of Konrad Kruhl in 1901 and placed on the corner of St. Wojciech and Jagielloƒska streets. During WW II, between 1942 and 1944, 80% of the Archive collection was removed to prevent its destruction in the aftermath of air raids. After the end of the war 50% of the records were brought back to Szczecin. Part of the collection was taken to Greifswald, where it stays to this day, while the remainder was destroyed. The Archive was taken over by the Polish authorities in August 1945. At present the State Record Office in Szczecin enjoys a fine reputation both in Poland and abroad. It is not only an institution that collects and keeps archive materials, but also a scientific organisation propagating historical knowledge of the region. Today its assets include over 2600 collections of archival records, including a collection of documents concerning the foundation of the city; the archive of the Szczecin princes; records concerning the activities of the Prussian authorities (the General Presidium of the Pomerania Province and the Notarial Office of Szczecin for instance); as well as the documentation of the Polish administration since 1945 (records of the Office of the Szczecin Province Governor from 1945-1950 and of political parties of the time). So the Record Office keeps documents concerning almost the entire history of the city, since bestowal of municipal rights in 13th century to the workers’ strikes in December 1970 and August 1980. 1577, 18 stycznia, Praga Mandat Rudolfa II, cesarza Rzeszy, publikujàcy zarzàdzenie Sejmu Rzeszy w Ratyzbonie, dotyczàce ujednolicenia kursu monet b´dàcych w obiegu na terenie Rzeszy.
