Here are the results of the IX edition of the contest Test Matematyka Plus – Oxford Educational International–
London. The first prizewinner in the category of the 3rd classes has become Julita Milan from class IIIA, next Paweł
Kosman, Mrs Małgorzata Czaplińska’s pupils, scoring 84 and 80 points and finally Sebastian Bąbiński from class IIIB, 80 p.,
Mrs Dorota Bałanda’s pupil! In turn, in the category of the 4th classes the winners are Daria Grzybowska from class IVB
(92p.), Alicja Wolak from class IVA (84p.), Mrs Iryta Maculewicz’s pupils. In the category of the 5th classes we have 2
winners: Olek Kania (88p.) and Roksana Bagan (84p.)! The best mathematician from the 6th classes has become Marcin
Wolanin from class VIA! They are all Mrs Iryta Maculewicz’s pupils, too. Congratulations for all competitors!
BEZPIECZNIE W CZASIE WAKACJI
Bezpiecznie w mieście
Brak pieniędzy i pomysłu często powoduje, że wiele dzieci spędza wakacje w mieście. Ale
pamiętajmy, że w mieście należy zachować szczególną ostrożność.
1. Nie wbiegać nagle na jezdnię. Ulica jest niebezpiecznym miejscem dla dzieci.
2. Podróżując samochodem rodzice powinni umieścić dzieci w specjalnych fotelikach.
3. Nie przebywać na dworze o późnej porze.
4. Uważać na bezpańskie psy, bo mogą cię zaatakować.
5. Jeździć rowerem po ścieżkach rowerowych, a jeśli ich nie ma, to po chodnikach, ale
nie przeszkadzając innym.
6. Korzystać z różnych rozrywek i zajęć w świetlicach, zamiast bezinteresownie spędzać
czas w nieodpowiednich miejscach.
Bezpiecznie w górach i nad wodą
1. Nigdy nie wychodź w góry sam, bo gdybyś potrzebował pomocy, druga osoba Ci jej
nie udzieli.
2. Nigdy nie zbaczaj ze szlaku, bo możesz zabłądzić.
3. Kup odpowiedni sprzęt i odzież.
4. Zawsze informuj innych, dokąd idziesz, bo gdyby cos się stało, będą wiedzieć, gdzie
szukać.
5. W wodzie nie oddalaj się od brzegu.
6. Nie pływaj po posiłku.
7. Pływaj w dozwolonych miejscach.
8. Gdy zauważysz, jak ktoś się topi, zaalarmuj o tym kogoś dorosłego.
9. Nie wchodź do wody po długim przebywaniu na słońcu.
10. Nie skacz do wody na główkę.
11. Nie pływaj po wypiciu alkoholu.
12. Nie skacz do wody, jeśli nie znasz jej głębokości.

The Loch Ness Monster / Potwór z Loch Ness
For years and years people have been talking about a monster or a whole herd of monsters living in Loch Ness. At first
only local people talked about it, but then, in 1933, a road was built around Loch Ness and more and more people began to
come there. Everybody wanted to see the monster and Loch Ness became one of the most important tourist centres in
Scotland.
Loch Ness is in Inverness county in the north of Scotland. It is 2.5 miles long and only one mile wide. In some places it is
more than 700 feet deep. Some people think that prehistoric animals swam into the bay (which is now the loch) in those days.
Then the land slowly formed a block between the bay and the open sea and the animals could not get out of the Loch.
The water in Loch Ness is very dark in colour, and this makes it very difficult to see if there is anything in the loch and
what it is. In 1962 the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau began to examine the question of the monster very seriously. They
wanted an answer to the question which everyone was asking: Is there a herd of prehistoric animals in the loch which has
been there for thousands of years? Some people say that the monster lives in a cave under the water. Others say that the
monster is a seal. But seals are friendly animals and the Loch Ness Monster does not like meeting people.

John Wayne (born Marion Morrison) was born in 1907, in Winterset, Iowa, USA.
John Wayne is one of the genuine icons of 20th-century American film. Famed as a star of westerns, especially
the westerns of director John Ford. "The Duke" also played cops and soldiers with regularity. No matter what the
role, Wayne nearly always played the same character: a big, tough, but sentimental hero who talked straight and
met the bad guys head on. His many films include classics such as Stagecoach (1939, with Wayne as the Ringo
Kid), the Irish fable The Quiet Man (1952), and The Searchers (1956). He is perhaps best remembered for his
parts in Ford's cavalry trilogy - Fort Apache (1948), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) and Rio Grande (1950).
He also starred in Red River (1948), Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), The Alamo (1960), The Green Berets (1968) and
many others. Wayne won an Oscar late in his career for his role as one-eyed Rooster Cogburn in the 1969 film
True Grit. John made over 200 films. He died in 1979.
