Saint John Paul II: Oct. 16, (1978 – became Pope); Oct. 22 – His Feast Day
The top ten achievements of John Paul II:
1. Fight for freedom - (1-st trip to Poland 1979) - his role was fundamental in the fall of
Communism in Eastern Europe. 2. Global Papacy - JPII made 104 international trips, and visited
130 countries. 3. Dialogue with Muslims and Jews – JPII prayed before the Western Wall. He
was also the first Pope to kiss a Koran, and step inside
a mosque. 4. Assisi gathering – JPII
was a pioneer in calling for joint prayer in favor of peace, as he did so in Assisi. First joint prayer
was in 1986. More than 150 delegates from 12 religions heeded his call.
5. No to war - during major conflicts of Rwanda, Kosovo, Sudan, Iraq and the Balkan wars JPII
became the voice of humanity, actively advocating against violence. 6. Saints – JPII jointly
beatified a married couple: Luigi and Maria Beltrame. 7. Letter to women - he was the first
Pope to write an apostolic letter directed to women, Mulieris Dignitatem. 8. Dignity of the Sick
– JP II remained active until his very last moments.
9. Forgiveness - in the Jubilee for the Year 2000, JPII formally apologized for the Church's past
errors. 10. A Pope for young people - JPII understood that young people needed special
attention and guardianship. He came up with a gathering dedicated exclusively to them: World
Youth Day. The Pope said he felt like another young person in the crowd.
Over the course of his 27 year pontificate, John Paul II overcame many obstacles and reached
many goals. But above all, he was able to reach millions of Christians, talking to them one on
one, from heart to heart.
Special Prayers for the Souls: November 1st at 11:45 AM in the church, and since about 12:15
PM the blessings of graves of our beloved ones who are buried in our Parish Cemetery, and
prayers for them, and for all other deceased.
November Prayers for the Souls: In November three Masses will be said and each Friday
Rosary, at 7:30 PM, for the souls whose names would be written on the memory cards.
Last Sunday Collections – October 17/18: First: $ 1,498.00; 2nd Maintenance : $ 305.00. Special
thanks to those who make up for the weeks they are unable to attend Mass.
Holy Rosary in October is said in English each Friday after 7:30 AM Mass, in Polish 7:30 PM.

Niektóre tytuły otrzymane przez JPII: Order Orła Białego nadany postanowieniem Prezydenta
Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej z dnia 3 maja 1993 r. Było to pierwsze nadanie tego Orderu po II wojnie
światowej. Godność Doctora honoris causa dla JPII m.in. Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, Katolickiego
Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika oraz Uniwersytetu Kardynała Stefana
Wyszyńskiego; Człowiek Roku 1994, magazynu "Time"; Na wniosek niewidomych dzieci z Krakowa i z
Lasek, JP II został 267. Kawalerem Orderu Uśmiechu, który w 1981przyznała mu "Międzynarodowa
Kapituła Orderu Uśmiechu". Wręczenie miało miejsce 28 marca 1984 r. w Watykanie; Jan Paweł II jest
laureatem statuetki Dziecięcej nagrody SERCA, którą odebrał we Wrocławiu 1 czerwca 1997 od dzieci
ze Stowarzyszenia Przyjaciół Dzieci Chorych "SERCE" ze Świdnicy; Za działalność dla pokoju Jan Paweł
II otrzymał przyznaną Zarząd Krajowy Ogólnopolskiego Stowarzyszenia Społecznego "Misja
Pojednania" (powołanego w wyniku historycznego spotkania i pojednania się w 1993 r. obrońców
Westerplatte i marynarzy z pancernika Schleswig-Holstein) Komandorię Missio Reconciliationis; W
roku 2000 Jan Paweł II został honorowym członkiem drużyny Harlem Globetrotters; Radni Miasta
Rzym nadali głównej stacji kolejowej Stazione Termini w Rzymie imię Jana Pawła II. Jest to pierwszy
i jak dotąd jedyny obiekt użyteczności publicznej w Rzymie noszący imię cudzoziemca; Honorowy
obywatel Rzymu; JPII jest także honorowym obywatelem wielu polskich miast.
Papież Jan Paweł II w okresie od 1979 do 2003 roku kanonizował 482 i beatyfikował 1343 świeckich
i duchownych. Kanonizacja Jana Pawła II i Jana XXIII – odbyła się 27 kwietnia 2014.
Modlitwy na Cmentarzu W niedzielę 1-go listopada o godz. 11:45 AM będą specjalne
modlitwy za zmarłych w kosciele, a około 12:15 PM poswięcenie grobów na naszym
parafialnym cmentarzu.
W listopadzie będą odprawione trzy Msze Święte za naszych zmarłych napisanych na kartkach
wypominkowych oraz różaniec w każdy piątek o godz. 7:30 PM w kosciele.
