Report meeting Rome
Program Grundtvig Partnership Project: “ LET‘S MIX UP: CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION IN ADULT EDUCATION” REPORT OF THE 4TH EUROPEAN MEETING IN ROME ON THE 10-13 DECEMBER 2010. E.Ri.Fo is a non-profit organization, which was born in 2000 in Rome, at the dawning of the third millennium, from the synthesis of activities of Social Research and Training. It carries out research-training- and guidance integrated interventions and promotes cultural exchanges and mobility in Europe, having as a main objective the valorization of non formal and informal learning. E.Ri.Fo hosted its following Europeans partners: - CULTURE CIRCLE KULTURBÜRO WIEN from Vienna, AUSTRIA LIETUVOS JAUNŲJŲ MOKSLININKŲ SĄJUNGA from Vilnius, LITHUANIA ESCUELA OFICIAL DE IDIOMAS MARÍA MOLINER from Almansa, SPAIN PARK KULTUROWY FORTYFIKACJI MIEJSKICH “TWIERDZA GDAŃSK” from Gdansk, POLAND 1. The 10th December 2010 During the First day of the meeting, we visited the new Planetarium of Rome, we have been hosted by the Director of the Museum and he explained us the new approach on the planetarium to increase the interest of people concerning astronomy. So we learn astronomy visiting the planetarium and we have had a demonstration of different constellation present in the sky. A particular attention has been brought about artificial light pollution. The trainer said us that pollution touch not only the air that we breathe or the food we eat. The permanent illumination of our big city contribute to darken our vision of stars, and damage the life of animal species. So we learn astronomy, history of astronomy trough studies’ centuries, and awareness of a new form of pollution. All the people were very interested by these informal learning. At the end of the afternoon , we had organised a meeting dedicated to multiculturalism and the struggle against fundamentalism. The meeting took place in the Multicultural Center Baobab in Rome, which is managed and settled by migrants and refugees at the same time. The meeting began with a presentation of the film "Agora", directed by Alejandro Amenabar. The film constituted a perfect base to create reflection and debate about intolerance between different religions Guests from more that 10 nations and at least two continents (Europe and Africa) participated to this multicultural event. This has been an occasion for developing tolerance towards multiethnic societies and our “social competences”. Actually, the latter is one of the EIGHT key competences identified by the European Union for lifelong learning and personal development, active citizenship and social cohesion. In particular, the Social competence refers to personal ability to understand the multicultural and socio-economical dimension of the European society, and the way each national cultural identity interacts with the European identity. This meeting has been followed with a dinner prepared by the member of the Baobab centre It’s was a good way for the Baobab centre to present its good practice of socio-working integration. During the dinner , we continued with “expressing emotions in Jam session”, each participant had the possibility to freely accede to the stage, equipped with many instruments, and sing and/or dance freeing own emotions. Metaphorically, the emotions developed during the film show, have been transferred from the pools to the stage and each of us will be able to transform own emotions into music. Music affects emotions and thoughts, orienting them to a positive attitude towards life, and help us know the multicultural dimension of the new Europe we are living. 2. The 11th December 2010 The second day of the meeting elapsed mostly on a discussion devoted to our project. During the morning session E.Ri.Fo. presented its own approach to adult education and the way how to certify the acquired knowledge. E.Ri.Fo., in order to educate adults, offers on-line training courses on a variety of topics, using e-learning platform docebo.com. During the presentation of the platform, actual types of training courses were shown, that are currently present on the platform. Moreover, we got to know the method how to use these courses on the platform. We could see many courses on various subjects, primarily available in Italian, but also in English. In addition, participants had also an opportunity: - to see a fragment of one training course, - to obtain a piece of information about courses that are the most popular among students, - to get to know about the number of students benefiting from the courses. During this session, we saw the film, which was made after project partners meeting in Vienna. Due to the length of the film, together with partners, we decided that the movie will be shorten to 5 minutes. After the movie we heard a lecture prepared by the partner from Vienna about the fundamental differences in experimental and formal approaches to education and we received materials to supplement the project after a meeting in Vienna. Futhermore, an important element of the discussion were topics directly designed to our project, e.g. progress reports in each partner country, the way of project results dissemination (project partner’ websites, press releases, a new website of the project), local activities in each partner country, the content of the final product and the proposed content of the film from the meeting in Rome. At the end of the meeting, E.Ri.Fo. showed a film that will be part of the film from the meeting in Rome. During the session all partners agreed as follows: - E.Ri.Fo. and partner from Austria (Monika)- will shorten the video to 5 min., - E.Ri.Fo. will prepare: - presentation of e-learning platform and a description about how to use it, - fact-sheet about own institution in both paper and electronic version, - website www.candia.webs.com made by Monika has been approved by all partners as aproject website and will include all final project results. - each partner continuously will send materials to Monika in order to publish them on the website. - the date of the last project partners meeting, planned for early May 2011 in Vilnius, will be officially confirmed by a partner from Lithuania. The museum is the richest collection of art from around the world, so vast that, according to guides, if we had devoted only a few seconds of our attention to each exhibits - viewing the entire collection would have taken over 8 years. 3. The 12th December 2010. The Third days, we invited our partners to visit Rome and “to learn trough discovering”. Rome is the perfect city to learn about history walking in street, visiting churches, museums. We can discover and understand the way of life of the previous civilisation, discover our common history and you can make the link between the big Rome (Empire or Republic) and our European Union.
