zdecydowano, øe bÍdzie to statua ukazujπca Ojca Sw. w stroju
pontyfikalnym trzyma jπcego krzyø w jednej rÍce i unoszπcego
prawπ d≥oÒ w geúcie b≥ogos≥awieÒstwa.

contains within it the theology of
the Entrustment of the Third
Milenium.
ìMary I am totally yours!
You who are the Mother of Jesus
and our Mother, form us into images of your Divine Sonî.
As we begin the Third Millenium
of the Christian era our world
desperately needs this entrustment, an act which begs the
grace to refrom and renew human hearts.
Only in this way can the Third
Millenium become a Civilization
of Love rather than a culture of
death.
ìA person is not great because
of who he is or because of what

possesses,
but
rather,because of what he shares
with othersî.
ì Carry forth to future generations the witness of faith, hope,
and love; Be resolute in thisî.
ì Do not be afraid to offer your
time to Christî.

actions, in a way, creates what

Dear Parishioners and Fellow Countrymen,
In October of 2008, we will be celebrating the thirtieth
anniversary of the election of Karol Wojtyla to the throne of
St. Peter. We also trust that soon will come the day when Pope
John Paul II will be proclaimed a saint, our intercessor to the
Lord.
We, who are of the generation that knows John Paul II and
whose papacy enriched our lives, the lives of our youth, and
the life of the whole Catholic Church, regard it as a privilege
and responsibility to remind the people of the world around us
of the extraordinary personage of the Pope from Poland. We
also wish to thank God for this outstanding witness of the
faith and relentless messenger of hope. For this reason, we
call upon all parishioners, parish groups, organizations of the
Polish community in Edmonton, as well as, all people of good
will in the Edmonton Archdiocese to lend your support to this
project of the commissioning and installation of the John Paul
II monument which will be situated at the front of the Holy
Rosary Church. It will be a focal point for those that seek
inspiration as well as, having much spiritual value to all who
will see it.
The Committee for the John Paul II Monument Project was
established on the initiative of the Knights of Columbus
Chapter #11334 in October, 2006. To the present time, the
committee has received all necessary permits and
authorizations (nihil obstat) from the Oblate Father
Provincial and from our Archdiocese. The committee also has
contacted two prominent artist sculptors, who have been
assigned to produce a sketch of the statue based on the
general concept that was the most popular among the
participants of the survey of potential designs.
The image that received the most votes was the one of the Pope in his pontifical robes holding
the cross in one hand, the other in a gesture of blessing.
Let us all enthusiastically support this great and worthy endeavor of erecting the statue
of John Paul II. It will be cast in bronze and measure about 3 metres tall. The cost is estimated
to be about $150 000. All donations collected in special envelopes will be tax deductible.
Larger donations of $250 and more will be acknowledged on a prominently displayed plaque;
($250 bronze, $500 silver, $1000 gold). Engraved on these plates (bricks) will be the donator’s
name. Businesses or associations that make a donation of a minimum of $1000 will have their
name engraved. Donations of $10 000 or more will merit a foundation stone (a much larger
plate). Contributions can be made in lump-sum payments or in smaller amounts that
accumulate over time. All contributions will be tracked as they reach the various levels stated
above.
The Committee also entreats your prayers for the timely and expeditious beatification of
Pope John Paul II and also the graces needed for the accomplishment of our great
undertaking.
