The Faculty of Philology and the Chair for Translation Studies and Intercultural
Communication of the Jagiellonian University are pleased to announce the
international conference “Points of View in Translation and Interpreting“.
The “Points of View in Translation and Interpreting” conference has been organised
by the Jagiellonian University since 2011. Its first edition – “Points of View
in Audiovisual Translation” – focused on audiovisual translation. The leading theme
of the second edition – “Points of View in Translator’s Competence and Translation
Quality” – was quality assurance in translation and translator education.
In 2017, the conference changes its name to “Points of View in Translation and
Interpreting”, and the topics covered will pertain to both translation and
interpreting. The organisers’ main objective is to strengthen the platform for
understanding and exchange of ideas between translators, translation industry and
Translation Studies researchers.

Conference topics will tackle issues relating to specific types of
translation, including:
-
specialised translation
certified translation
community translation
interpreting (conference i., consecutive i., liaison i.)
audiovisual translation
media accessibility (audio description, subtitling for the deaf and hard of
hearing, sign language interpreting, etc.)
literary translation
The topics proposed will fall within 4 major themes:
-
translation practice and implementation of technology
quality assurance in translation
theoretical paradigms in Translation Studies
teaching methodology and translator education
The conference will be held in Polish and English, and conference papers
will be interpreted simultaneously between the conference languages.
Submissions:
Poster, presentation and panel discussion abstracts (200-300 words) are to be
submitted online by 20th January, 2017. A link to the application form is

Each applicant will receive notification of acceptance or rejection of their
submission by 15th February, 2017.
