PROFESOR JAN EUGENIUSZ KRYSIŃSKI Egzamin maturalny zdał w III Liceum im. T. Kościuszki w Łodzi. W Politechnice Łódzkiej otrzymał: w 1957 roku dyplom magistra inżyniera mechanika, w 1965 roku stopień doktora nauk technicznych, w 1974 roku stopień doktora habilitowanego. Jest profesorem tytularnym w Instytucie Maszyn Przepływowych PŁ (IMP PŁ) od 1980 roku, od 1991 profesorem zwyczajnym. Był dyrektorem IMP od 1991 do 2007 roku. Dziekan Wydziału Mechanicznego w latach 1987-1990. Czterokrotnie był rektorem Politechniki Łódzkiej w latach 1990-1993-1996 oraz w latach 2002-2005-2008. Był członkiem Prezydium Konferencji Akademickich Szkół Polskich (KRASP) w latach 2002-2008 i jednocześnie przewodniczącym Komisji Edukacji KRASP oraz w latach 2005-2008 przewodniczącym Konferencji Rektorów Polskich Uczelni Technicznych, a od 2008 roku jest honorowym przewodniczącym tej konferencji. Był członkiem Rady Głównej Szkolnictwa Wyższego w okresie od 1997 do 2000 i przewodniczył Sekcji Uczelni Technicznych. Jego podstawowe dziedziny badań to: silniki turbospalinowe, przepływ przez stopnie turbinowe, przepływ nieustalony przez turbiny wielostopniowe, mikroturbiny, łożyska gazowe, wykorzystanie energii geotermalnej. Jest autorem i współautorem 6 książek, 16 patentów i ponad 80 publikacji. Wykształcił dziewięciu doktorów. W 1978 roku pracował jako profesor wizytujący w Uniwersytecie Paryż 6. Od 1981 do 1986 wykładał na Uniwersytecie Technicznym w Oranie (Algieria). Wykładał również w Wolnym Uniwersytecie w Brukseli, w Politechnice w Montrealu oraz w Uniwersytecie Lavala w Quebeku. Jest doktorem honoris causa: Uniwersytetu Strathclyde, Uniwersytetu Lyon 3, Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Sankt Petersburgu, Uniwersytetu Coventry i Akademii Techniczno-Humanistycznej w Bielsku-Białej. Odznaczony m.in. orderem papieskim „Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” nadanym przez Jana Pawła II, Krzyżem Kawalerskim i Komandorskim z gwiazdą Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, Medalem Komisji Edukacji Narodowej, orderami kawalerskimi francuskich Palm Akademickich oraz Legii Honorowej. W roku 1997 otrzymał Naukową Nagrodę Miasta Łodzi. PROFESSOR JAN EUGENIUSZ KRYSIŃSKI Jan Eugeniusz Krysiński passed his secondary school final exams at Tadeusz Kościuszko Secondary School no. III in Lodz. He received a M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering in 1957, a Ph.D. degree in 1965 and a D.Sc. degree in 1974 from the Technical University of Lodz. He has held the title of Professor at the Institute of Turbomachinery, Technical University of Lodz, since 1980 and in 1991, received full Professorship. Director of the Institute of Turbomachinery from 1991 till 2007. Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 1987 till 1990, he was elected Rector of the Technical University of Lodz four times for the office terms of 1990-1993-1996 and 2002-2005-2008. He was a member of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) in the years 2002-2008 and at the same time served as the Chairman of its Education Commission. In the years 2005-2008, he served as the Chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Technical Universities in Poland. Since 2008, he has been an honorary chairman of that Conference. Prof. Krysiński was a member of the Main Council of Higher Education from 1997 till 2000 and the president of its Section of Technical Universities. His main research areas are as follows: turbocombustion engines, flow in turbine stages, unsteady flow in multistage axial turbines, microturbines, gas bearings, utilisation of geothermal energy. He has authored or co-authored 6 books, 16 patents and more than 80 papers. He has supervised nine Ph.D. dissertations. In 1978 he was a visiting professor at the University Paris VI. From 1981 till 1986 he lectured at the Technical University of Oran in Algeria. He has also lectured at the Free University of Brussels, the Polytechnic School in Montreal and the Laval University of Quebec. Prof. Krysiński has an honorary doctor’s degree of the Strathclyde University, University Lyon 3, Technical University in Saint Petersburg, Coventry University and the University of Bielsko-Biała. He has obtained numerous awards and distinctions, e.g., „Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” (awarded by Pope John Paul II), Knight’s Cross and Commander’s Cross with the Star of Rebirth of the Polish State, Medal of the National Education Commission, Knight’s Orders of French Academic Palms and Order of the Legion of Honour. In 1997 he obtained the Scientific Award of City of Lodz.
