WELCOME
St. Stanislaus is reaching out in service to our diverse neighborhood
peoples. Please be generous in your
support of the many good works of
our Parish. St. Stanislaus depends
upon the regular support of its me mbership and the generosity of those
who visit here. Please look upon
your financial gift or sacrifice as a
way of giving praise to God along
with the many from earlier genera tions who have worshiped and
prayed here for 130 years.
An Embarrassment of Riches
All those first Communicants! The Krakowianki! The Aniolki! The Veterans! The Choirs! The Trumpeteers! The
Tympani! The Church decorations! The Servers! The Priests! The Clear Skies! The rainbow! The Dads Club! The speaker
pushers! The trolleys! Grace and John and Marilyn and Denise! The toilet unpluggers! The photographers! The guests!
Yes, we are so lucky at St. Stanislaus to have so many people who contribute their talents and time and financial donations to make beautiful things happen! Last Sunday’s Corpus Christi procession was something to be proud of! And it was all
because of the many parts, you, who made it so successful. Even those of you who so easily got on my nerves that day contributed to the beauty of the event by making me take to heart the message of our Pastor in his bulletin article when he pointed out
that Jesus is in every one of us, no matter what our persuasion or our ‘matka bolesna’ demeanor or deficiencies…(so, ‘thanks’
goes out to those contributors with a big “GOD BLESS YOU”!!!)
Now that we are into liturgical ‘Ordinary Time’ the church will be returned to its natural beauty. However, I must put out a
request to those of you who might have some ‘free time’ over the next few months. Our Brother Fidelis Society, which helps to
maintain this beautiful church, will be short of a few members during the summer months due to illness and vacations, yet the
church will remain opened. Not only does Jesus deserve a clean house, but all of us and our guests command the same. So,
PLEASE…if you have any free time this summer, especially on Thursday afternoons from 3-5, please, please, please consider
coming to help us with this task! God bless all of you who already help out!

PASTORAL MESSAGE
Changing Seasons of our Lives
May the Lord give you peace.
Today’s pastoral message will be
rather different from the previous
ones. A few weeks ago I mentioned
that I may be transferred from St.
Stanislaus Parish to Wisconsin.
As many, if not most, of you
know, we Franciscans of the Assumption BVM Province held our triennial
Chapter the first week of May. Fr. Michael, Bro. Jerome and I
participated. We reviewed our lives, prayed together, set some
new directions and elected a new team of leaders for our community.
I had also mentioned that about a year or so ago I was re quested by a leader in our provincial community to consider
becoming a formation director (accompanying men in becoming Franciscan friars). I agreed, and over time that changed and
became the vocation director (recruiter for our community).
Well, that is the new position I am holding for our Franciscan community. While I had mentioned to several people that I
had hoped to possibly remain here in Cleveland, it became apparent to the newly elected leadership that the vocation office
and director should live at our provincial headquarters, Sts.
Francis & Clare Friary, in Franklin, WI (just a little southwest
of Milwaukee, WI). That is where I will be moving come this
July.
Brothers and sisters, I confess I have mixed emotions about
my impending move. I have grown to love the People of God
of St. Stanislaus Parish, the Latino Catholic community of Our
Lady of Lourdes Parish (where I have served Spanish Masses
on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. since March, 2004), and the many people I have come to know along the way.
I am very grateful to God for this blessed opportunity.
Youns have been greatly ecumenical in reaching out to and embracing a native Pittsburgher and Steelers/Pirates fan who is a
quasi-vegetarian, and who is of Irish-Scottish-English-Native
American background.
My arrival in June 2003 followed the horrific events of Fr.
Willy’s murder and the burning of the rectory in December,
2002 I am very proud of our pastor, Fr. Michael Surufka, OFM
for his genuine love and care for this parish and all its undertakings — the very high quality of worship at St. Stan’s, the grade
school, overseeing the restoration and renovation of the rectory,
as president of the Pulaski-Franciscan Community Development Corporation and many other events and projects of this
very vibrant parish community. I am also proud of Fr. Jerzy
(George) Kusy for his pastoral outreach to and guidance of the
Polish-speaking members of our parish community.
God has greatly anointed and blessed this parish.
My role here at St. Stanislaus will most likely diminish until
I officially move, which I suppose will be sometime in July. I
will be around most weekends, and continue the regular parish
duties as best as I can. I will also begin the process of transferring and preparing to take over the provincial ministry of vocation director.
Please keep me in prayer. You all are in mine. I am very
blessed and proud to be part of the legacy of St. Stanislaus Parish. Thank God. Thank you. Thank God for you.
Peace, Fr. Joachim C. Studwell, ofm

SLABI I GRZESZNI
Do koga ta mowa? Ja na pewno nie
moge byc porównany do celnika! Z
kim on sie zadaje, kogo ona odwiedza?
Takie i tym podobne „rozterki” w
obawie o dobre imie wlasne i naszych
bliznich niejednokrotnie towarzysza
nam w naszych myslach i rozmowach.
Lubimy byc sedziami, opiniodawcami.
Jakos dziwnie naklada sie obraz wyjety
z dzisiejszej Ewangelii.
Jezus powolal Mateusza, jednego z tych poborców
zlem. W tamtych czasach posilek byl o wiele bardziej niz dla
nas, znakiem wiezi i wspólnoty.
Jezus patrzy wzrokiem, który siega samej glebi serc, ponad
spolecznymi etykietami i opiniami.
bedzie ewangelizowac tych "sprawiedliwych". Poniewaz sa
naprawde ludzmi sprawiedliwymi, autentycznie pragna nimi
milosci. Pycha z powodu swojej wiernosci i odraza, która czuja
wobec grzeszników, czynia ich ludzmi wynioslymi i oschlymi,
niezdolnymi spojrzec z odrobina chocby przyjazni na „
chorych”. Natomiast On patrzy zyczliwie na tych "chorych",
ewangeliczne wezwanie. Dowód: kiedy Mateusz uslyszal:
"Pójdz za Mna", wstal natychmiast. Jezus próbuje skruszyc
twarde i zamkniete serca faryzeuszy: "Starajcie sie zrozumiec".
I wypowiada prawde jasna, oczywista: "Nie potrzebuja lekarza
do Niego zblizyc niz przejaw milosierdzia i milosci.
Milosierdzie Jezusa jest nieskonczenie czyste, podczas gdy
nasze zawsze bedzie nieco cherlawe albo, co gorsza,
nasiakniete pycha. Trzeba zdecydowanie odrzucic poczucie, ze
jestesmy ludzmi sprawiedliwymi, zajmujacymi nalezne miejsce
