Our parish Wigilia (Christmas Vigil) celebration
will take place next Sunday, December 2,
2007. This event will begin with the celebration
of Mass at 11am. (You can bring your Sunday
envelope.) The European Chalet is located at
5445 S. Harlem Avenue in Chicago, IL. The
Split-the-Pot raffle drawing will take place at the Wigilia. There will also
be raffle tickets sold for various prizes. Entertainment will provided by the
well-known Wesoly Lud Dancers. A good time is promised to all who
attend
Tickets for the Wigilia will be on sale this weekend; however; the final
deadline for purchasing tickets is MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH BY
2:00PM.
The deadline for purchasing Split-the-Pot raffle tickets is Friday, November 30th. You can purchase these tickets at the rectory during office
hours.
Please note that you do not have to walk up any stairs at the Chalet; a
lift is now in place and you can be taken to the top of the stairway with no
effort on your part!

Please Note: Christmas Wafers (Opłatki) are available this weekend and will be available through December 22nd and 23rd (or until supplies are gone.)
Choir members will be in the vestibule of the church
to help you with your selections. Choose from packages of 4 large wafers for a $2 donation or small
individually wrapped wafers for 50 cents each. You do not have to be
Polish to celebrate this lovely tradition-start one of your own. These
troubled times are calling for prayer and brotherhood!
Parents of students attending
the Religious Education Program, (CCD) are reminded that
classes will be held for two consecutive Saturdays during the month of
December. These classes will be held on December 1st and December
8th. Classes begin at 8am and dismissal is at 10:00am.
Massive flooding that ripped through Tabasco, Mexico, has affected more than a million residents who
are desperately awaiting rescue from their homes and
need basic survival supplies, including water, food,
shelter, cooking kits and hygiene supplies. Please
continue to keep all people affected by this crisis in
your prayers. Catholic Relief services is seeking cash donations that will
enable them to provide food and shelter for thousands affected by the
floods. You can send contributions to CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

Dear Friends in Christ;
As part of the ongoing “Year of Spirituality” here
in the Archdiocese of Chicago, I have been writing
and speaking more frequently about the basic
practices that shape and define a Catholic way of
life. Throughout the Church’s history, pilgrimage
has been one of these practices. Whether to parishes or shrines in one’s own neighborhood or to
holy places overseas, pilgrimages, journeys that are made for an intentionally spiritual purpose form us as disciples of the Lord, deepen
our unity with the Universal Church and express our faith in a public
way that invites others to follow Christ. During 2008, groups from the
Archdiocese of Chicago will travel as pilgrims to the International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec, Canada and to the World Youth Day in
Sydney, Australia. I am writing to tell you about another major event
next year, An Archdiocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes, France where we
will join Catholics from all over the world in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Bernadette.
This spiritual journey has been titled, “Keep Us Free From Sin.”
About 200 pilgrims will travel with me to Lourdes, and I hope that the
composition of the group will represent a cross-section of the Catholics
of this Archdiocese. We will depart Chicago on August 2 and 3 and
return on August 9 and 10, 2008. I would like pastors, parish pastoral
councils, and parish ministers to nominate individuals, couples or families to go to Lourdes as representatives of their communities. Those
who cannot afford to pay the entire cost of the trip will be assisted in
meeting their travel expenses, to whatever extent is possible, by their
local communities or by underwriting that is being secured by the
Lourdes pilgrimage committee. If you would like to be considered as a
pilgrim representative, please speak with your pastor.
Those who are in need of physical healing are invited to come.
Those who are not well enough to make the trip can ask to be “carried
in spirit’ to the healing waters of the grotto by the travelers. Everyone
will have the opportunity to participate in this healing event. While the
pilgrims are praying in Lourdes, all will be invited to participate in a
week-long “At Home Pilgrimage,” which will include reconciliation services, rosaries, Marian processions, and healing Masses at parishes
and shrines throughout the Archdiocese. As an Archdiocese, we will
seek freedom and healing from the sins of scandal, sexual abuse,
racism, economic injustice and selfishness. We will pray in a particular
way for the grace and courage to promote greater respect for all human life, to support vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and
to defend and support Christian marriage and family life. At the end of
the Lourdes Jubilee Year, on December 8, 2008, I will rededicate the
Archdiocese to the patronage of Mary under her title of the Immaculate
Conception.
With confidence in the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Mother of God and of the Church, let us approach the waters of
grace with joyful confidence and renew our discipleship to the Lord,
trusting in His mercy. I look forward to celebrating the Lourdes Jubilee
Year with you, either on pilgrimage or here in the Archdiocese. May
Mary Immaculate, Our Lady of Lourdes, keep us free from sin. You are
in my prayers each day, and I count on the support of yours.

Christ the King
Colossians 1:12 – 20
Jesus is the King over all
creation. Everything was created for him, and nothing is outside of his authority. A day will
come when he will return to the
earth to put an end to all evil
and establish his throne in justice and peace. What could be
more hopeful a promise than this?
How often do you think of Jesus as King in your everyday
life? It’s easy to believe and trust him when our lives are flowing along smoothly. However, when we come into seasons of
intense difficulty – or even intense happiness – it can become
much more difficult to keep Jesus on the throne of our hearts.
The “good thief” in today’s Gospel reading knew that he
was guilty and was paying for his crime. He was on the rocky
road that leads to death. But rather than succumb to despair,
he submitted himself and his fate to Jesus saying, “Jesus,
remember me when you come into your kingdom “ (Luke
23:42). As a result, he died at peace with God and had no
need to worry about where he was bound. Coming under Jesus’ rule – even at the last hour – brought him great joy and
peace.
St. Augustine once said that our hearts are restless until
they rest in Jesus. How better to find rest in Jesus than by
receiving his own Living Bread? Today when you receive the
Eucharist, imitate the good thief. Bow down before your King,
and let him reign in your heart. Then, watch to see what he
does in you. Our God is all powerful. When we spend time
resting in his presence, he gives us the grace we need to continue on our journey. When we are restless, he can become
our rest. Nothing is beyond his ability!

estará celebrando su aniversario de Ordenación Sacerdotal el día lunes 27 de Noviembre de 2007. Encomendemos a Padre
Radek en nuestras oraciones, pidiendo la
bendición para su servicio sacerdotal.
La Solemnidad de Jesucristo, Rey
del Universo, fue instituida por el
papa Pío XI el 11 de diciembre de
1925. El Concilio Vaticano II sitúa la
celebración como final del tiempo
ordinario y, por tanto, como final del
año litúrgico. Su significado es que
Cristo reinará al final de los tiempos
y supone un plan espiritual de redención lejos de cualquier interpretación
de poder político o pseudoreligioso.
Además, el Evangelio de San Juan
que se lee hoy presenta en la propia
voz de Cristo las mejores consideraciones sobre su Reino.
San Andrés (30 de Noviembre)
(cuyo nombre significa "varonil")
nació en Betsaida, población de
Galilea, situada a orillas del lago
Genesaret. Era hijo del pescador
Jonás y hermano de Simón Pedro.
La familia tenía una casa en Cafarnaum, y en ella se hospedaba Jesús
cuando predicaba en esta ciudad.
Andrés tiene el honor de haber sido el primer discípulo que tuvo
Jesús, junto con San Juan el evangelista. Los dos eran discípulos
de Juan Bautista, y este al ver pasar a Jesús (cuando volvía el
desierto después de su ayuno y sus tentaciones) exclamó: "He
ahí el cordero de Dios". Andrés se emocionó al oír semejante
elogio y se fue detrás de Jesús (junto con Juan Evangelista),
Jesús se volvió y les dijo: "¿Qué buscan?". Ellos le dijeron:
"Señor: ¿dónde vives?". Jesús les respondió: "Venga y verán". Y
se fueron y pasaron con Él aquella tarde. Nuca jamás podría
olvidar después Andrés el momento y la hora y el sitio donde
estaban cuando Jesús les dijo: "Vengan y verán". Esa llamada
cambió su vida para siempre.
ATENCIÓN: FAMILIAS DE LA ESCUELA Y FAMILIAS DE
LOS ESTUDIANTES QUE ATIENDEN A NUESTRO PROGRAMA DE LA EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA (CCD) DE LA PARROQUIA
Como católicos, la celebración de Masa es lo central de nuestra fe y
su presencia en ella es la parte vital de la vida de nuestra parroquia de Santa
Maria de Czestochowa. La participación en la Misa es esencial en el proceso de
crecimiento en la fe católica. Las metas para enviar los niños a una escuela
católica o a las clases de religión es despertar la necesidad de estar con Dios por
medio de oración y la Eucaristía, en otras palabras practicar la fe.
Comenzando con este mes de octubre de 2007, la escuela y el programa de la
educación católica (CCD) entra en proceso de revisión de la presencia de las
familias en la Misa. Otras parroquias ya lo están haciendo actualmente. Las
formas de asistencia se proporcionan en la entrada de la iglesia. Las familias de
nuestra escuela, incluyendo niños, debe utilizar la forma de color verde y las
familias de la educación católica (CCD), incluyendo niños, deben utilizar la
forma de color azul.
Estas formas deben ser llenadas en principio de la Misa y ser colocadas en la
canasta de la colecta dominical durante la masa. La asistencia en la Masa será
registrada en una base de datos semanal. ¡Su presencia en la liturgia de domingo consolidará su FE, de su FAMILIA y de la VIDA de nuestra PARROQUIA!

A lud stał i patrzył. Lecz członkowie Wysokiej Rady
drwiąco mówili: «Innych wybawiał, niechże teraz siebie wybawi, jeśli On jest Mesjaszem, Wybrańcem Bożym». Szydzili z Niego i żołnierze; podchodzili do
Niego i podawali Mu ocet, mówiąc: «Jeśli Ty jesteś
królem żydowskim, wybaw sam siebie». Był także nad
Nim napis w języku greckim, łacińskim i hebrajskim:
«To jest Król Żydowski».
Jeden ze złoczyńców, których [tam] powieszono, urągał Mu: «Czy Ty nie jesteś Mesjaszem? Wybaw więc
siebie i nas». Lecz drugi, karcąc go, rzekł: «Ty nawet
Boga się nie boisz, chociaż tę samą karę ponosisz? My
przecież - sprawiedliwie, odbieramy bowiem słuszną
karę za nasze uczynki, ale On nic złego nie uczynił». I
dodał: «Jezu, wspomnij na mnie, gdy przyjdziesz do
swego królestwa». Jezus mu odpowiedział:
«Zaprawdę, powiadam ci: Dziś ze Mną będziesz w
raju».

Króla Wszechświata wprowadził
do liturgii papież Pius XI encykliką Quas Primas z 11 grudnia
1925 r. na zakończenie roku
jubileuszowego. Nakazał wtedy,

Najświętszemu Sercu. Początkowo uroczystość obchodzono w
ostatnią niedzielę października;
reforma soborowa przeniosła jej
termin na ostatnią niedzielę roku liturgicznego.
Uroczystość ta ma nam uświadomić, że Chrystus jest Królem całego stworzenia - wszechświata. Jego panowanie nie wynika z jakichś dokonań, z wybrania czy z wywalczenia tej godności. On jest
Królem, bo jest Bogiem-Człowiekiem, Stworzycielem i Odkupicielem. Z tego właśnie tytułu ma absolutną władzę. Bóg nie tylko
stworzył świat, ale ciągle go stwarza i nim włada. Królestwo Jezusa jest czymś zupełnie innym od wszystkich królestw ziemskich.
Dotyczy ono wszystkich narodów, wszystkich miejsc i wszystkich
czasów. Ono już istnieje w Kościele, choć jeszcze nie zostało do
końca wypełnione. Dlatego właśnie w codziennej modlitwie, którą
zostawił nam sam Chrystus, wołamy z nadzieją: Przyjdź królestwo
Twoje!
Chociaż Chrystus nigdy nie nosił korony królewskiej, nie trzymał
w ręku berła i nie zasiadał na tronie królewskim, tytuł Króla najzupełniej Mu się należy i to w zakresie, jakim nie dysponował żaden
władca świata.
Chrystus jest ponadto Synem Bożym, naturą równy Bogu, drugą
Osobą Trójcy Przenajświętszej. Jako taki jest Panem nieba i ziemi,
Panem najwyższym i absolutnym, wobec którego wszelkie królestwa ziemskie są nieporównywalne. Aby to powszechne władztwo
Jezusa podkreślić, liturgia dodała do tytułu "Król" dopełniacz
"Wszechświata".
