// HONEY HUNTERS //
The story of the sculptures that have been searched and found
by scientific expeditions at the bottom of the Vistula River.
These architectonic elements of Warsaw residencies have been
stolen in the 17th century by the Swedish army. What do the old
stones have to tell us today?
A film about throat singers in Tuva (Russian Federation) and
Canada. The protagonists are women practising the traditional
art of singing, reserved only for men. The most vulnerable in the
modern societies, they are claiming the voice in both modern
and traditional society and getting their stories told.
Honey Hunters is a story about the fascinating life of bees and
the revival of tree beekeeping in the forests of Poland. The inspiration comes from the local past and from primeval culture of
Ural and Nepal. This film renews connection between humans
and bees.

// HURRAH, WE ARE STILL ALIVE! //
// OPERA ABOUT POLAND //
It’s a story about a group of actors centered around the
charismatic Director. Actors are ready for brutal competition
to win His favor and live together in a group that looks like
a commune just to be closer to dominant One. In the movie
Director is absent. The figure of the absent main character is
based on Reiner Werner Fassbidner.
It will be the first in Poland mix of two genres: an opera and
a documentary film. A music piece, written especially for this
occasion, will be combined with documentary pictures (showing Poland and Polish people) and word (announcements from
local papers, fragments of radio auditions, poetry and prose).

Koi Studio was established by young filmmakers whose energy and
persistence, so characteristic of debuting artists, have been our
greatest drive. We believe that a good team of talented individuals,
a startling story and a coherent visual style are prerequisites for
a good movie. We intend to make films for those who expect entertainment, but also reflection and aesthetic satisfaction. We are
open to all forms and genres, believing that fascinating stories can
be told through both auteur and mainstream films.

A hot summer in Argentina, 1953. Marisa spends her holidays
in a country home. Her daily routine is suddenly interrupted by
the arrival of an aging writer. He is looking for inspiration and,
by doing so, he casually turns the young girl’s world upside
down. A surprising game starts between the two of them.
Each year twelve young Japanese students decide to sign up for
the Polish language studies at the Tokyo University. In his docu
mentary Matej Bobrik talks about their struggle, not only with
the Polish language, but also with how hard their projections
clash with reality.
In the 1970’s Piotr Chmieliński had only one dream: to canoe
down the Amazon River. When he was given an opportunity to
do so, Piotr abandoned his student life in Poland, promised his
fiancée that he would come back soon, and joined an expedition to South America to conquer some of the continent’s rivers.

The film depicts obsessive collecting habits of an elderly
woman who employs absurd methods to obtain artefacts.
In her misguided belief that she preserves these items for
posterity, the film raises oblique questions around collecting
policies of museums.
Poland hasn’t been so popular in the media since ‘89. The reason? Two phenomenons both known as the “Polish express”:
the pace of the new government and a rumor that the Golden
Nazi train exists! Most Poles always believed the train exists.
Now the majority also believes the parliament knows where it’s
going.

The “Seven Summit Run” lasts for 52 hours, during which the
participants cover 240 kilometres through the mountains. The
runners are deprived of sleep and rest, not stopping even to
eat. The film will depict extreme emotions, their struggle with
extreme exhaustion and loneliness.
Kamil Filipek wants to meet his father Ilham Al Madfai, who
is a star of the Arabic folk music in the Middle East. The two
have never met. The director invites viewers to Kamil’s life, to
observe and reflect on the meaning of finding roots. Can those
two cultures coexist together nowadays?
Living without papers turns “illegals” into humans without
rights. The story of Timur and his sick mother is built around
a situation like this. By telling it from a child’s perspective, the
dark story acquires childlike innocence – the story about illegal
immigration becomes an adventure story.
