difficult time with the concept of giving without expecting
something in return, Even when we give to charity we often
want something in return—a raffle ticket, a dinner, or a chance

that the true reward for our giving awaits us in heaven.

HUMILITY
Have you ever been in a group of people—maybe on a tour, at a social gathering, or at church—and discovered that
you have just been talking with a wellknown author, corporate CEO, great
scholar, or politician? Your first thought
is the hope that you didn’t say anything to embarrass yourself;
but your second thought is how much they seemed like such
“regular” folks. What is it that makes people seem so
“regular”? Today’s readings give us a clue when they stress the
importance of humility.
It is so hard for us not to tell the first person who will listen
how busy we are, how hard we work, how much money we
donate, and how important our job titles are. We think these
accolades make a difference to people, and if we don’t tell
them, how will they ever know? But if our actions demonstrate
our values, people will recognize our worth on their own. The
words of Jesus show us how much better it is to let someone
else recognize our worth than to be embarrassed because someone did not.
FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
On Sept. 2nd we will celebrate First Friday of the month,
which is associated with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The masses
are 6:30 & 7:00am (for members of Sacred Heart Society) and
7:00pm in the Polish Language.
At 8:30am - Mass asking God’s blessings for all the students of SJS for the 2016-17 Academic year. Parents are
welcome.
Adoration will commence after the 7:00am Mass and conclude at 3:00pm with the Chaplet to Divine Mercy and Benediction. Members please come at your scheduled time.
The second collection this week is for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated for Higher Utility and Energy costs.

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
“Alms atone for sins”. Alms are mercy translated into handson compassion. Jesus confirms Sirach’s wisdom, “Blessed are
the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” “Conduct your
affairs with humility”. Humility: we’re all alike and special, for
we’re children of God. Jesus confirms that wisdom, too: “Do
not recline at table in the place of honor. Take the lowest
place”. In fact, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not
invite friends, relatives, wealthy neighbors. Invite the poor,
crippled, lame, blind,” physically or figuratively, society’s most
vulnerable and marginalized, “who cannot repay you”. Jesus
seems to be telling us to prepare for eternity with God’s chosen
by becoming their friend here and now. Mercy is measured not
by our delight in welcoming those we like most or who can
repay us best, but by sincerely embracing those we like least,
who cannot repay us at all. Utter humility inspires pure mercy;
pure mercy leads to eternal joy.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL NEWS
On August 25th, teachers returned to school for organizational and Professional Development to begin the new school
year 2016–17. Teachers prepared for the first day of school
which will begin August 31st for grades 1 – 8, September 1st
for Kindergarten and September 2nd for PK-5. PK 2 and 3
will begin respectively on September 6th and 7th.
School enrollment has reached 210 students. We are excited
to see our enrollment increase as the word gets out about the
quality of education at St. Joseph School.
Parent orientation-for grades PK and K will be Wednesday
August 31st @ 6:30pm in the school cafeteria and for grades 1 –
8 on Thurs., September 1st at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Please
plan on attending the orientation when you may meet three new
staff members, Sharon Durando-grade 3, Samantha Sampaiograde 1 and part time counselor Samantha Miller. Welcome to
a new school year!

GALA REFLECTIONS
On Aug. 19th, at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, we honored Msgr. James Moroney and recognized the Felician Sisters
for their almost 125 years of service at St. Joseph School.
Many people from Worcester County and some from Boston
took part in this uplifting celebration. The participants had the
opportunity to tour this impressive building, with its high ceilinged halls, the Chapel with stained glass windows, the classrooms, etc., where since 1884 thousands of seminarians were
educated, ordained as priests and served in the New England
Dioceses.
We are most grateful for the financial support of those who
attended the Gala and also to those who could not participate
but made donations for the St. Joseph School Gymnasium.
We appreciate the encouragement and enthusiasm of our
supporters who took the time to be at the Seminary and were
part of this enjoyable evening. On behalf of the students of St.

CANONIZATION OF SAINT MOTHER TERESA
Mother Teresa was born on Aug. 26, 1910 in Skopje,
Macedonia as Gonxha Agnes Bojaxhiu. Her father died
suddenly when she was eight years old so her mother raised her
children in a firm and loving manner, greatly influencing
Gonxha‘s character and religious vocations.
In Sept. 1928, at the age of eighteen, she left home and
became a missionary with the sisters of Loreto in Ireland and
received the name Sister Mary Teresa. In Dec., 1928 she
departed for India and began teaching at St. Mary‘s School for
Girls.
On Sept. 10, 1946, during a train ride Mother Teresa reeived
her inspiration to help the poor. Jesus revealed to her „Come,
be my light.“
She established a religious order, the
Missionaries of Charity, dedicated to the service of the poorest
of the poor. Between 1948 and 1997, Mother Teresa‘s order
grew to nearly 4000 members and were established in 123
countries. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Mother
Teresa died on Sept. 5, 1997 and was honored with a state
funeral by the government of India.
Saint Mother Teresa will be canonized in Rome on Sunday,
Sept. 4th. Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the
unwanted .

LABOR DAY - in the United States is a federal holiday
which is observed on the first Monday in September. The
holiday originated on 9/5/1882, as the Central Labor Union of
New York City sought to create a day off from work for the
working citizens. Some cities hold parades, community picnics
and political rallies. Whatever your choice of celebration have
a safe and happy Labor Day!

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
Pope Francis reminds us that St. Joseph exercises his role as
protector because he is able to hear God’s voice and be guided
by his will. For this reason he is all the more sensitive to the
persons entrusted to his safekeeping. In this way we also learn
how to respond to God’s call, readily and willingly and also see
the core of the Christian vocation which is Christ! Let us protect Christ in our lives, so that we can protect others, so that we
can protect creation.
On Wed., Aug. 31st we invite members of our Parish Council
to assist in bringing the St. Joseph statue into the sanctuary.
We kindly ask parishioners and friends to join in this Novena to
ask our patron’s guidance in granting of personal favors which

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Education Program, please do so this week. Forms are

Religious Education is a vital part in the formation of
spirituality and character of a young person. May I ask parents
to live up to their baptismal promises to educate their children
in their faith. Registration fee is $45 for one child and $70 for
two or more children. This fee covers the cost of books.

„Wy natomiast przystąpiliście do góry Syjon, do miasta Boga żyjącego,

Dążenie do pierwszeństwa, do
pochwał, do zaszczytów jest chorobą
duszy. Skłonność do porównywania się
z innymi albo do wybijania się kosztem
drugich świadczy o tym, że nie
potrafimy cieszyć się Panem, nie
przyjmujemy Jego darów. Kto uczestniczy w Eucharystii
z wiarą w nieskończoną i niepowtarzalną miłość Jezusa, ten nie
musi już szukać gdzie indziej zaspokojenia swoich
najgłębszych pragnień. Prostota, pokora, służba cechują tych,
których Jezus wyzwolił.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta będzie przeznaczona na pomoc
Kościołowi w Europie środkowej i wschodniej.
Druga kolekta w przyszłą niedzielę będzie przeznaczona
na pokrycie wyższych kosztów utrzymania i energii.

Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu rozpocznie się po Mszy św. o

ROK JUBILEUSZOWY
"Jałmużna wynagrodzeniem za grzechy". Jałmużnę tłumaczy się jako
miłosierdzie okazane w czynie. Jezus potwierdza naukę z Księgi
Mądrości Syracha,: „Błogosławieni miłosierni, albowiem oni
miłosierdzia dostąpią”. Wszyscy jesteśmy podobni i wszyscy jesteśmy
wyjątkowi, bo jesteśmy dziećmi Bożymi. Jezus potwierdza to również
ucząc, abyśmy nie zajmowali sami dla siebie honorowych miejsc, ale
pokorni zasiadali na najniższym miejscu.. W rzeczywistości ma się to
przekładać na postawę opisaną obrazowo w zaproszeniu na przyjęcie.
Czy to dosłownie czy w sposób symboliczny, mamy kierować swoje
działania nie do tych, którzy mogą się nam odwdzięczyć, ale do tych
najsłabszych i najbardziej poszkodowanych, tych którzy nie mogą nam
odpłacić. Jezus zdaje się mówić nam, abyśmy przygotowali się do
wieczności żyjąc w przyjaźni z wybrańcami Boga tu i teraz.
Miłosierdzie nie jest mierzone przez naszą radość z pomocy tym,
których lubimy najbardziej i którzy mogą nam odpłacić, ale szczerze
przyjmując tych, których nawet nie lubimy, i którzy w żaden sposób
nie mogą nam odpłacić. Pokora inspiruje miłosierdzie, miłosierdzie zaś
prowadzi do wiecznej radości.

bezdomnych, NADZIEJĘ dla zrozpaczonych rodzin, NADZIEJĘ dla

PODZIĘKOWANIE
W imieniu Misjonarzy Pasjonistów z Papui Nowej Gwinei ojciec
Ron, który odwiedził nas w ubiegłym tygodniu, dziękuje za hojne
ofiary i modlitwy w intencji dzieł misyjnych przez nich
prowadzonych. Każda ofiara jest mile widziana i otoczona z ich strony
modlitwa wdzięczności. Bóg zapłać!
WIADOMOŚCI SZKOLNE
W ubiegłym tygodniu, 25 sierpnia, nauczyciele naszej szkoły
powrócili po letnim wypoczynku, aby przygotować szkołę na
powitanie dzieci w nowym roku szkolnym.
Rozpoczęcie zajęć szkolnych: klas 1-8: 31 sierpnia;
Kindergarten: 1 września; PreK 5: 2 września; PreK 2:
6 września; PreK 3: 7 września.
Spotkania dla rodziców odbędą się w następujące dni: PreK – K:
w środę, 31 sierpnia o godz. 18:30; klasy 1 – 8 w czwartek 1 września
o godz. 18:30.
W tym roku szeregi nauczycieli naszej szkoły zasilą: Sharon
Durando-klasa 3, Samantha Sampaio-klasa 1 oraz na pół etatu
Samantha Miller jako Caunselor.
RELIGIA
Zajęcia katechetyczne rozpoczną się 19 września. Prosimy, aby jak
najszybciej zarejestrować swoje dzieci. Opłata wynosi $45 za jedno
dziecko i $70 za dwoje lub więcej dzieci. Formularze zapisowe są
dostępne przy wejściach do bazyliki.
UROCZYSTA GALA
W piątak, 19 sierpnia, w St. John’s Seminar w Brighton odbyła się
uroczysta Gala dla uhonorowania ks. prałata James’a Moroney oraz
podziękowania Siostrom Felicjankom za 125 służby w Szkole
św. Józefa.
W uroczystości wzięło udział wiele osób z Worcester County oraz
z Bostonu. Uczestnicy mieli możliwość podziwiać niesamowitą
architekturę budynku seminarium, wspaniałe witraże, kaplicę i sale
wykładowe, gdzie od 1884 roku tysiące kleryków przygotowywało się
do święceń i posługi w diecezjach w Nowej Anglii.
Serdecznie dziękujemy za wsparcie finansowe płynące od
uczestników Gali oraz tych, którzy nie mogli dołączyć do nas tego

KANONIZACJA MATKI TERESY
Matka Teresa urodziła się 26 sierpnia 1910 roku w Skopje jako
Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. Jej ojciec zmarł nagle, gdy miała osiem lat,
więc jej matka wychowywał dzieci w twardy i kochający sposób,
znacznie wpływając na jej charakter i powołanie religijne.
We wrześniu 1928, w wieku osiemnastu lat, opuściła dom i stał się
misjonarką u Sióstr Loretańskich w Irlandii i otrzymał imię Siostra
Maria Teresa. W grudniu 1928 roku, że wyjechał do Indii i rozpoczął
nauczanie w szkole dla dziewcząt.
W dniu 10 września 1946 roku, podczas podróży pociągiem Matka
Teresa otrzymała natchnienie, by pomóc biednym. Jezus objawił jej:
"Chodź, bądź moim światłem". Założyła zatem zakon Misjonarek
Miłosierdzia, poświęcony służbie najbiedniejszym z biednych.
W latach 1948 i 1997, liczba sióstr wzrosła do prawie 4000, ktore
działały w 123 krajach. Matka Teresa została wyróżniona Pokojową
Nagrodą Nobla. Zmarła 5 września 1997 roku i został uhonorowany
przez rząd Indii pogrzebem z honorami państwowymi.
Matka Teresa zostanie kanonizowany w Rzymie w niedzielę,
4 września.

NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Papież Franciszek przypomina, że św. Józef był doskonałym
opiekunem, gdyż wsłuchiwał się w głos Boga i podążał za Jego wolą.
Z tego powodu najbardziej wrażliwy na potrzeby osób powierzonych
Jego opiece. W ten sposób my również uczymy się jak z gotowością
o ochoczo odpowiadać na Boże wezwania. Uczymy się również
dostrzegać centrum chrześcijańskiego powołania jakim jest Chrystus.
Chrońmy zatem Chrystusa w naszym życiu, bo tym samym będziemy
w stanie chronić innych i całe stworzenia.
W środę 31 sierpnia zapraszamy do udziału w procesji z figurą św.
Józefa członków Rady Parafialnej.
LABOR DAY
Labor Day w Stanach Zjednoczonych jest świętem państwowym,
które obchodzi się w pierwszy poniedziałek września. Pierwszy raz
było obchodzone 5 września 1882, z inicjatywy Unii Pracy w Nowym
Jorku, która starała się stworzyć wolny dzień od pracy dla pracujących
obywateli. W wielu miastach tego dnia organizuje się parady, pikniki
i inne wydarzenia społeczne, kulturalne i polityczne. Wszystkim
parafianom życzymy miłego wypoczynku.

KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
W najbliższa niedzielę, 4 września, zapraszamy na Koronkę do
Miłosierdzia Bożego. Zapraszamy i zachęcamy do wspólnej modlitwy,
która polecił nam odmawiać sam Jezus. Zwracając się do Niego
w godzinę Jego męki możemy mu całkowicie zawierzyć i z ufnością
wypraszać potrzebne nam łaski.
