of travel photos. All July the centre hosts an exhibition of photos documenting 3,500 km of foot
travelfromthenorthernmostpartofEuropetoGdańsk.
Theexhibitionisacollectionoftravelphotographydepictingmomentsandviewsaccompanyingtwo
inhabitants of Gdańsk during their five-month travel to Gdańsk from the northernmost point of
Europe – Cape Nordkinn. Almost all photos were taken while walking, which makes the conveyed
messagemoreauthentic.Thecollectionoftravelphotosisnotastereotypicalrecordofvisitedplaces
asitcoversabroadspectrumofemotionsandmoodstriggeredbythetrip,andrepresentedinthe
landscapes.
The author of the photos, Wiktor Jesionek, comes from Gdańsk Zaspa and is a PhD student at the
University of Gdańsk. Last year Wiktor together with his wife, a PhD student at the Medical
UniversityofGdańsk,walkeda3,500kmrouteandtookphotosofthemostbeautifulmomentsand
views of the trip. Their trip was a nominee for Kolosy travel-exploration award. One of the photos
waspresentedinthefinalexhibitionofthenationalFotoglobcontest.
Theaimoftheexhibitionistoprovethatonedoesn'thavetobeaprofessionalphotographer
tonoticebeautifulmoments.Wewillbegladifsomeoneinfluencedbyourphotosdecidesto
start an interesting journey, of course, not necessarily across half of the continent... - says
WiktorJesionek,theauthorofphotographs.
Theexhibitioncomprisesfourteen80x60cmphotosandcanbeseenonthefirstfloorofthecentre.
There is no entry fee and the photos can be seen during opening hours of Galeria Zaspa, from
MondaytoSaturday:9am–9pmandSunday:11am–8pm.
AttheendofJulytherewillbeameetingwiththeauthorsofthephotographs.
