Baudilio TOMÉ MUGURUZA Born in León, Spain, in 1962. Education: Degree in law, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in 1985. Degree in economics and business sciences, UNED, in 1989. Obtained a Master of Laws and International Tax Programme from Harvard Law School in 1992. Professional experience: Lecturer of public finance in the Law Faculty of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 1993 to 1995. Also gave courses on tax matters at the School of Public Finance of the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance. In 1986 Baudilio Tomé Muguruza became State finance inspector and in 1988 and 1989 worked as tax inspector at the tax office in La Coruña. Then worked as company tax coordinator in the Directorate-General for Taxation representing the Spanish government in Council and Commission working groups. He was appointed as Member of the Madrid Economic-Administrative Tribunal from 1995 to 1996. From 1996 to 2000 he worked in the Spanish Prime Minister’s Office, first as Director of the Department for Economic and Social Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office, providing assistance and advice to the Prime Minister on matters relating to national and international economic affairs, including the preparation of European Council meetings; and then as Director of the Prime Minister’s Budget Office, with the rank of undersecretary, responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in the formulation of budget policy and monitoring state budgets. From 2000 to 2002, Baudilio Tomé Muguruza was appointed Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society in the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2002 he went back to work in the Prime Minister’s Office as Director of the Department of Research and Political Communication and was also Secretary-General of the FAES (Foundation for Analysis and Social Studies). He was elected three times Member of the Congress of Deputies (eighth, ninth and tenth parliamentary term) (in 2004, 2008 and 2011). He was Member of the Committees on the Economy and Finance, Budgets and Science and Technology. He was also appointed by his party as finance spokesperson on the Committee on the Economy and Finance in the Congress of Deputies. Baudilio Tomé Muguruza became Member of the European Court of Auditors on 1 March 2012 and was appointed to Chamber IV “Revenue, research and internal policies, and institutions and bodies of the European Union”.
