What must one do in order to receive the special Plenary Indulgence?
In order to gain this special Indulgence, a Catholic is
required first to make sacramental Confession, receive
the Eucharist at Mass, make a profession of faith and
offer prayers for the Supreme Pontiff's intentions.
In addition to and in conjunction with fulfilling these
conditions, one may then take part in any of the following observances of the Jubilee of Mercy.
Each time one visits, in the course of a pilgrimage, the
Cathedral of the Holy Name of Jesus, or a designated
Jubilee Parish, and there walks through the designated
Holy Door, and makes a brief visit.
If you wish to request a mass for a deceased member or a blessing or to ask
for the health of a loved one or friend,
you may do so at the rectory. We are
open Monday—Thursday from 9 AM to 5
PM and on Friday from 10:30 to 6:30 PM. A SMALL DONATION
OF $10 PER INTENTION IS REQUIRED.

This greeting of the Risen
Christ to his disciples on the
evening of Easter will continue to resound in all of us
as we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord, Jesus and
the Jubilee Year of Mercy!
The Risen Lord brings us the
warmth of his love and mercy so that we, too, may be-
come witnesses to mercy!
Our beautiful church of St. Mary of Czestochowa has been
identified as a Jubilee Church by Archbishop Cupich as a
sign of the deep desire for true conversion.
As we
enter through the Door of Mercy in our church, let us experience the love of God who consoles, pardons and instills hope in us.
In our weekly Sunday bulletins we have suggested
ways that you can observe the Year of Mercy by practicing the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. We practice the corporal works when we feed the hungry, give
drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked and welcome the
stranger, heal the sick, visit the imprisoned and bury the
dead. We practice the spiritual works of mercy when we
counsel the doubtful, instruct the ignorant, admonish sinners, comfort the afflicted, forgive offences, bear patiently
those who do us ill, and pray for the living and the dead.
The ultimate goal of the Year of Mercy is to help all of us
change our hearts and our lives so we can become witnesses of God’s mercy in everything that we say and do.
All families and friends of St. Mary of Czestochowa
Parish are invited to celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week
and Easter Sunday that will be offered in our beautiful
church. We also remind you that your generous Easter gift,
to be used for the needs and upkeep of our parish, will be
greatly appreciated! We kindly ask that you place your
offering in the enclosed Easter envelope.

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
John 20:1-9
Mary of Magdala finds that the
stone has been removed from
Jesus' tomb.
Background on the Gospel Reading
Today we begin the Easter Season, our 50-day meditation on
the mystery of Christ's Resurrection. Our Gospel today tells us
about the disciples' discovery of
the empty tomb. It concludes by
telling us that they did not yet
understand that Jesus had risen
from the dead. Thus, the details provided are not necessarily
meant to offer proof of the Resurrection. The details invite us to
reflect upon a most amazing gift, that is faith in Jesus and his
Resurrection.
Each of the four Gospels tells us that Jesus' empty
tomb was first discovered by women. This is notable because in
first-century Jewish society women could not serve as legal
witnesses. In the case of John's Gospel, the only woman attending the tomb is Mary of Magdala. Unlike the Synoptic accounts, John's Gospel does not describe an appearance of angels
at the tomb. Instead, Mary is simply said to have observed that
the stone that had sealed the tomb had been moved, and she
runs to alert Simon Peter and the beloved disciple. Her statement to them is telling. She assumes that Jesus' body has been
removed, perhaps stolen. She does not consider that Jesus has
been raised from the dead.
Simon Peter and the beloved disciple race to the tomb,
presumably to verify Mary's report. The beloved disciple arrives first but does not enter the tomb until after Simon Peter.
This detail paints a vivid picture, as does the detail provided
about the burial cloths. Some scholars believe that the presence
of the burial cloths in the tomb offers evidence to the listener
that Jesus' body had not been stolen (it is understood that grave
robbers would have taken the burial cloths together with the
body).
The Gospel passage concludes, however, that even
having seen the empty tomb and the burial cloths, the disciples
do not yet understand about the Resurrection. In the passage
that follows, Mary of Magdala meets Jesus but mistakes him for
the gardener. In the weeks ahead, the Gospel readings from our
liturgy will show us how the disciples came to believe in Jesus'
Resurrection through his appearances to them. Our Easter faith
is based on their witness to both the empty tomb and their continuing relationship with Jesus—in his appearances and in his
gift of the Holy Spirit.
Communal Anointing of the Sick
Next Saturday, April 2 a communal anointing of the
sick will take place at the 5PM Mass.
What is the Anointing of the sick? The letter of St.
James tells us: “Is anyone among you sick? He should
summon the presbyters of the church, and they should
pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of
the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person,
and the Lord will raise him up,. If he has committed any

sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15)
In the days between the Council of Trent in the 16th
century and Vatican II, the nature of the sacrament was a
last anointing to prepare a person for death. But Vatican
II changed that. Vatican II actually reverted to the more
ancient practice of anointing the sick—not just the terminally ill or dying person-which may restore a person to
health, aid in their healing and recuperation or calm their
mind and spirit if they are indeed preparing for death.
So the sacrament today is broader than just a last
anointing and everyone is invited to participate in the
Communal Anointing of the Sick next week.

llegar a ser testigos de la misericordia.
Nuestra hermosa iglesia de Santa María de Czestochowa ha sido nombrada por el Monseñor Blase Cupich, Arzobispo de Chicago, como una Iglesias con la Puerta del Jubileo. Será una señal del verdadero deseo de conversión. A medida que entramos a través de la Puerta de la Misericordia en
nuestra iglesia, vamos a experimentar el amor de Dios que
consuela, perdona e infunde esperanza en nosotros.
En nuestros boletines semanales hemos sugerido
formas en que se puede vivir el Año de la Misericordia. Hemos mencionado sobre todo las prácticas de las obras espirituales y corporales de misericordia. Practicamos las obras
corporales cuando damos de comer al hambriento, beber al
sediento, vestimos al desnudo, acogemos al extranjero, visitamos a los enfermos, visitamos a los presos y enterramos a los
muertos. Practicamos las obras espirituales de misericordia
cuando enseñamos al que no sabe, damos buen consejo al que
lo necesita, corregimos al que se equivoca, consolamos a los
tristes, perdonamos a los que nos ofenden, sufrimos con paciencia los defectos del prójimo, y rezamos por los vivos y los
muertos. El objetivo final del extraordinario Año de la Misericordia es ayudar a cada uno de nosotros a cambiar nuestros
corazones y nuestras vidas para que podamos ser testigos de
la misericordia de Dios en todo lo que decimos y hacemos.
Todas las familias y amigos de la Parroquia Santa
María de Czestochowa están invitados a celebrar la liturgia de
la Semana Santa y Domingo de Pascua en nuestra hermosa
iglesia. También les recordamos que su generoso regalo pascual, se utilizará para las necesidades y el mantenimiento de
nuestra parroquia. ¡Ténganlo por cierto que sus aportes serán
muy apreciados! Les pedimos que depositen su ofrenda en el
sobre adjunto.
Los Padres Redentoristas ofrecerán las Misas de Pascua por las intenciones de todos los feligreses y amigos de

La Celebración comunitaria
de la Unción de los Enfermos.
El sábado 2 de Abril en las vísperas de Domingo de la Divina Misericordia, en nuestra
parroquia habrá la celebración comunitaria
de la Unción de los Enfermos durante la
Masa a horas 5PM. Con este sacramento de
la Unción de los Enfermos, el enfermo recibirá fuerza de Dios
en su lucha contra enfermedad. Por favor informe a sus enfermos familiares o sus amigos para que puedan participar en esta
celebración. También le pedimos para que faciliten la llegada
de los enfermos a nuestra iglesia parroquial.

Niedziela Wielkanocna
Pierwszego dnia po szabacie, wczesnym rankiem, gdy jeszcze było ciemno, Maria Magdalena udała
się do grobu i zobaczyła kamień odsunięty od grobu.
Pobiegła więc i przybyła do Szymona Piotra i do drugiego ucznia, którego Jezus miłował, i rzekła do nich:
«Zabrano Pana z grobu i nie wiemy, gdzie Go położono». Wyszedł więc Piotr i ów drugi uczeń i szli do grobu.
Biegli oni obydwaj razem, lecz ów drugi uczeń wyprzedził Piotra i przybył pierwszy do grobu. A kiedy się nachylił, zobaczył leżące płótna, jednakże nie wszedł do
środka. Nadszedł potem także Szymon Piotr, idący za
nim. Wszedł on do wnętrza grobu i ujrzał leżące płótna
oraz chustę, która była na Jego głowie, leżącą nie razem
z płótnami, ale oddzielnie zwiniętą na jednym miejscu.
Wtedy wszedł do wnętrza także i ów drugi uczeń, który
przybył pierwszy do grobu. Ujrzał i uwierzył. Dotąd bowiem nie rozumieli jeszcze Pisma, które mówi, że On ma
powstać z martwych.

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele,

które Chrystus Zmartwychwstały skierował do swoich uczniów
w wieczór Paschy nadal będzie
rozbrzmiewać w każdym z nas,
gdy będziemy świętować Zmartwychwstanie Pana Jezusa i Jubileuszowy Rok Miłosierdzia!
Zmartwychwstały Pan daje nam
ciepło Jego miłości i miłosierdzia, abyśmy się też mogli stać
świadkami miłosierdzia!
Nasz piękny kościół Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej został wyznaczony przez Księdza Arcybiskupa Błażeja Cupicha jako
Kościół Jubileuszowy, który jest znakiem głębokiego pragnienia ukierunkowanego ku prawdziwemu nawróceniu.
Wchodząc przez drzwi Miłosierdzia w naszym kościele,
mamy możliwość doświadczyć miłości Boga, który pociesza, udziela odpuszczenia naszych win i wzbudza w nas nadzieję.
W naszych cotygodniowych biuletynach niedzielnych znajdujemy raz po raz sugestie dotyczące sposobów praktykowania w Roku Miłosierdzia uczynków miłosierdzia co do ciała
i co do duszy, aby jak najlepiej ten czas przeżyć. Zdobywamy zasługi przed Bogiem kiedy nakarmimy głodnych, napoimy spragnionych, odziejemy nagich, przyjmiemy do domu
podróżnych, opiekujemy się chorymi, odwiedzamy uwięzionych i grzebiemy zmarłych. Także praktykując uczynki miłosierdzia co do duszy, kiedy grzesznych upominamy, nieumiejętnych pouczamy, wątpiącym dobrze radzimy, strapionych pocieszamy, krzywdy cierpliwie znosimy, urazy chętnie darowujemy i modlimy się za żywych i umarłych. Głównym zadaniem Roku Miłosierdzia jest pomoc nam wszystkim zmienić nasze serca i nasze życie, abyśmy mogli stać się
świadkami miłosiernego Boga we wszystkim, co mówimy i
robimy.
Wszystkie rodziny i przyjaciół parafii Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej zapraszamy do wspólnego świętowania liturgii
Wielkiego Tygodnia i Niedzieli Wielkanocnej, które będą
celebrowane w naszym pięknym kościele. Przypominamy
również, że Wasza hojna Wielkanocna ofiara materialna,
która będzie przeznaczona na potrzeby i utrzymanie naszej
parafii, będzie bardzo mile widziana! Uprzejmie prosimy o
umieszczenie swojej donacji w załączonej kopercie Wielkanocnej.
Jednocześnie informujemy, że my, Wasi Duszpasterze, w
niedzielę wielkanocną będziemy celebrować Msze św. w
