GREETINGS PARISHIONERS AND FRIENDS OF ST. WILLIAM PARISH!
Thank you to all who have purchased the 100th Anniversary Raffle tickets so far. Drawing will be held at our Parish
Dinner Dance on October 2, 2016. From now till then, we are asking for your continued support by YOU asking
your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to also purchase raffle tickets. There are extra tickets at the rectory
and church entrances for you to take and when you see them at your home, place of work or family functions,
please extend the opportunity to purchase tickets and win some money in
support of our parish.
On October 2 will be the pinnacle of our Year of Celebrations, with the Mass of Thanksgiving with Archbishop
Cupich presiding along with Fr. Robert, Fr. Jarek, and Fr. Stan, along with previous serving clergy, deacons and
religious life. Later that afternoon, we will continue our celebration with a dinner dance held at 3pm at Elmcrest
Banquets in Elmwood Park.
You can purchase tickets today after all the masses, or on line at www.saintwilliamparish.org - look for the
specific event’s link. You can also purchase tickets at rectory during normal working hours.
God has truly blessed St. William Parish, since its humble beginnings in a small wooden church to our present day
stone and mortar buildings that grace these four corners of our parish community. Please, come and be a part of
these celebrations and give thanks to God for these past 100 years as we approach our next
Century of Faith.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP
"And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting
prudently." It's important to pay attention to the details of the
parable Jesus tells in today's Gospel. At first glance, it might
seem as if Jesus is encouraging us to be dishonest. But in fact,
it's just the opposite. The steward in this tale was reported to
his master "for squandering his property." In other words, the
steward was not being responsible with what he was in charge
of. And the master was ready to fire him on account of it. But
then, the steward had a change of heart. (This isn't so hard to
comprehend--sometimes it takes a real threat for us to realize
we need to change our ways, doesn't it?) So the steward went to
the people from whom he had previously collected money to
"make friends" with them. How? By reducing their debts.
This might seem to be dishonest yet again, but we need to bear
in mind that in the end, the master was pleased with the steward's behavior. So this debt reduction must not have affected
the master's pocketbook. Rather, it seems probable that the
steward had originally hiked up what the debtors owed the
master and put the extra cash in his own pocket. This was the
sort of extortion that was common in those days, among tax
collectors for example. Now, when the steward was about to
lose his position, he thought it wise to go back and return that
"dishonest wealth" to the folks who had lost it, and gain some
sympathy in the process. So, in the end, the steward was making up for his previous cheating behavior by doing something
RIGHT and smart. It's this honest behavior that will enable
him to take his place in "eternal dwellings." And surely our
honest behavior will have the same effect.
When the collection basket passes you by at church, what are
you thinking? The reality is that your spiritual health is tied
into what you think and what you do with your money. People
like to say that stewardship doesn't have to do with money,
but the reality is that money is such a strong force in our lives,
if we relegate it to something outside of our spiritual journey,
it has the potential to sneak up on us and take control before
we know it. In marriage, money is the source of most arguments and stress between spouses. The majority of big lottery
winners find their lives in shambles just a few years after they
cashed in the winning ticket. Credit card debt is a primary obstacle for many in trying to buy a house, car, or other primary
item needed for basic living.
Jesus said, "No servant can serve two masters... You cannot
serve both God and mammon [wealth or riches]." I heard a
long time ago the P. T. Barnum quote, "Money is a terrible
master but an excellent servant." The truth is that unless we
exercise true dominion over our money and allow it to serve
God's purpose, then we run the risk of waking up one day
being enslaved by it. This does not only apply to what we give
away to our parish, our community, or to charity. It applies to
the money we use for shelter, food, and clothing. It applies to
every dollar in our wallet and bank account. For it ALL belongs to God.
When the next offertory comes upon you, think before that
basket passes you by. Place your offering into the basket first
with gratitude toward God for that gift. Then, may your offering remind you of who is the real Master. May you allow your
Master to lead you in all things.
SCHOOL NEWS
PET BLESSING
Greetings from first grade! We are all excited about being
back with our teachers and classmates for a new school
year. We are working very hard to be the best students we
can be. We are learning to be good listeners as well as
learning the importance of showing respect and kindness
towards everyone we meet. The first graders are looking
forward to a challenging and exciting new school year.
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, we will have our annual
animal blessing in front of church on Saturday, October
8th at 3 pm. Please have all pets on a leash or in a pet
carrier. If your pet is a little bit aggressive or gets nervous
around strangers, just stand off to the side away from
others, and we will come to you to bless your pet.
Safety first please.

PIERWSZA SOBOTA PAZDZIERNIKA
Arcybractwo Straży Honorowej Najświętszych
Serc Jezusa i Maryi zaprasza na nabożeństwo
wynagradzające „ Pierwsze Soboty Miesiąca” za
grzechy osobiste, nasze, naszych Rodzin , Polonii
i narodu polskiego Ojczyzny Polski. Czuwanie rozpoczyna się
o godzinie 7:00 wieczorem. W programie czuwania jest
wspólna i prywatna modlitwa, spowiedź święta, różaniec i
koronka do Bożego Miłosierdzia. Czuwanie kończy się mszą
świętą o godzinie 9:15 PM.
Składam serdeczne podziękowania Polskiej
Szkole, parafianom, nauczycielom, dzieciom,
rodzicom, gościom i wszystkim którzy
przyczynili się do zorganizowania wspaniałego
poczęstunku z okazji moich imienin i urodzin. Bardzo

PAŹDZIERNIK MIESIĄCEM MARYJNYM
Oczywiście widać, że kluczem jest tu różaniec i to właśnie on jest główną przyczyną, dla której październik jest
nazywany miesiącem maryjnym. Dlaczego październik?Bo oprócz maja ma on najwięcej wspólnego ze czcią
Najświętszej Maryi Panny i porównań z Nią związanych. Maj przypomina budzenie się przyrody do życia i jest kojarzony z Maryją czystą i świeżą, zielenią pełną nadziei powołującą do życia nasze zbawienie Jezusa Chrystusa. Październik, w
którym przyroda kładzie się powoli do zimowego snu tracąc liście drzew, przywołuje jesień ludzkiego życia i wspomnienie eschatologicznej przyszłości w Królestwie niebieskim, w którym króluje Jej Syn i Ona Sama orędując za nami. Październik nabrał
szczególnego znaczenia maryjnego w XVI w po słynnej bitwie i zwycięstwie wojsk chrześcijańskich nad flotą turecką, pod Lepanto, dokładnie 7 października 1571 roku. Wtedy to papież Pius V, przypisując nieoczekiwane zwycięstwo floty chrześcijańskiej
interwencji Matki Bożej wzywanej na różańcu, ogłosił święto Matki Bożej Różańcowej. Oficjalnie dopiero papież Leon XIII w
1885 roku, z racji różańca, ogłosił październik miesiącem maryjnym. Do ożywienia nabożeństw różańcowych w październiku
przyczyniły się na początku zeszłego stulecia objawienia w Fatimie, 13 października 1917 roku trojgu portugalskim pastuszkom, w
których Matka Boża z różańcem w ręku przedstawiła się, jako Pani Różańca Świętego i zaprosiła świat do przygotowania wielkiego
zwycięstwa nad szatanem za pomocą różańca. Tak powstały nabożeństwa gromadzące tłumy wiernych na wspólnej modlitwie
różańcowej, a sam październik wpisał się na stałe w Kościele katolickim, jako maryjny miesiąc różańcowy.
Zamawiając Mszę świętą za bliskie nam osoby, ofiarujemy im najlepszy prezent – duchowy dar, którym jest
postawienie tej osoby w strumieniu łaski. Książka z intencjami mszalnymi na 2017 rok jest już otwarta do wpisów.
W celu zamówienia intencje mszalnych na 2017 rok, prosimy o przyjście do biura parafialnego lub można
intencje przynieść do zakrystii przed i po każdej mszy świętej. W naszym kościele nie obowiązują stawki za
sprawowanie sakramentów, nie wyznaczamy, ile kto ma zapłacić. Wierni proszący o odprawienie Mszy
św. składają ofiarę, taką, na jaką ich stać. Nie jest to zapłata za modlitwę; msza św. jest za darmo – cenę zapłacił Chrystus. Składana
ofiara jest podstawowym źródłem utrzymania naszego kościoła. Jest to rodzaj odpowiedzialności za Kościół, a zapewne też wyraz troski

ROZWAŻANIA NA 26 NIEDZIELE ZWYKŁĄ
Am 6,1.4-7; 1 Tym 6,11-16; Łk 16,19-31
„Jeśli Mojżesza i proroków nie słuchają, to choćby kto z umarłych powstał, nie uwierzą”, oto odpowiedź Jezusa
w przypowieści, na brak wiary w Jego przesłanie. Przypowieść koncentrowała się na wrażliwości szczególnie
ludzi bogatych na ludzką niedolę, szczególnie w stosunku do ludzi ubogich. Przysłowiowy Łazarz, reprezentujący każdego ubogiego i człowieka w potrzebie, po czasie swej ziemskiej niedoli z powodu swego ubóstwa, w
ogóle niezauważony przez bogacza, u którego bram spał niemal przez całe życie, teraz staje się panem sytuacji,
miarą sprawiedliwości Bożej. Nasze ludzkie sądy i wartościowania, kierujące się innymi kryteriami niż ewangeliczne takie, jak: bogactwo, układy, znajomości, nie działają w królestwie Jezusa Chrystusa. Czas niedoli ziemskiej
znoszony w duchu ewangelicznej cierpliwości i miłości zostaje wynagrodzony Łazarzowi niebiańskim wytchnieniem. Bogacz
zrozumiawszy swój błąd po śmierci, tak jak każdy ignorujący głos Boga w jego duszy, teraz prosi Abrahama, by poprzez wysłanie zmarłych przodków przestrzegł jego żyjących krewnych, by uniknęli jego błędnego życia. Okazuje się, że tak to nie działa,
bowiem to właśnie zmarli prorocy i Mojżesz swiadczą o Bogu i wybranym Słudze Jahwe, a oni mimo to wciąż nie wierzą. Zmarli
krewni, więc też nie pomogą. Przypowieść jest przestrogą dla każdego z nas, by uwierzyć w przesłanie Bożego milosierdzia objawionego w Jezusie Chrystuisie i by wykorzystać Jego przyjście do prawdziwego nawrócenia. Żadne bowiem zjawy z innego
świata po śmierci niczego tu nie zmienią i nie zdziałają, skoro nie działa słowo Proroków i samego Jezusa. Wyznacznikiem działania tego słowa Bożego jest nasza wrażliwość na ubóstwo, chamsto i biedę tego świata oraz działanie ewangeliczne, którego On
od nas oczekuje.
