OSKARA KOLBERGA W SZCZECINKU 12TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR WIND INSTRUMENTS „SZCZECINEK 2012” Cezary Traczewski Graduate the Music Academy in Wrocław. His knowledge was improved in Prof. Peter-Lukas Graf flute class in Sion (Switzerland) and on masterclasses in Weikersheim (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. P. Brock, E. Brunner and K. Thunemann. He gave concerts as a soloist and chamber music player in Poland, Switzerland and Germany. Traczewski made many radio and television recordings in the country and abroad. Between 1981 and 1997 he was a Wrocław Opera soloist. At present he leads flute class in Primary and Secondary General Education Music School in Wrocław. Cezary Traczewski developed many laureates of national and foreign-made competitions. His most prominent graduate is world fame flute virtuoso – Łukasz Długosz. Krzysztof Gotartowski Krzysztof Gotartowski graduated study at The State High Music School in Gdańsk. His teacher was Prof. Jerzy Sulikowski. He obtained three times the scholarship of F. Chopin Warsaw Society. As a member of piano trio he got distinctions on Chamber Ensembles Competition of West and North Lands in Wrocław and on Wrocław Musical April. With a piano trio he has also won III prize on VI National Intercollegiate Competition of Chamber Music in Łódź. Since 1978 Gotartowski works in Jelenia Góra, where he leads concert and pedagogical activity. From 1984 till 1987 he was a lecturer of Feliks Nowowiejski Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. He played with orchestras from Baltic Philharmonic, Częstochowa Philharmonic, Dolny Śląsk Philharmonic, Sudety Philharmonic, Świdnica Sinfonietta orchestra, Legnica Symphony Orchestra. As the chamber music performer he played among others: in the piano trios, with instrument soloists, vocalists. In 1996 Gotartowski created TVrecording together with German ZDF television. In pedagogical work he is mainly engaged in cooperation with vocalists and instrumentalists. He receives distinctions for the accompaniment on numerous competitions. The Music School Hall SAXOPHONE RECITAL Arno Bornkamp – saxophone Lena Ostrołucka – piano guest - Paulina Kulesza – saxophone Program: J. S. Bach – Chaconne Santiago Baez – L'Arlésienne Fantasy Concert Francis Poulenc – Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano, arr. for soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone and piano Arno Bornkamp Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp is a saxophone virtuoso, feeling equally at home in traditional and contemporary repertoire. His performances are full of the great artistry sense and virtuoso art. Bornkamp studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Ed Bogaard and graduated in 1986 with the highest distinction. He has won many awards, the 'Silver Laurel of the Concertgebouw' and the 'Netherlands Music Prize' among the most noteworthy. The latter enabled him to go abroad, studying in France with Daniël Deffayet and Jean-Marie Londeix, in Japan with Ryo Noda as well as working with composers as Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Since his 1982 solo debut in Rome, performing the 'Concertino da Camera' by Jacques Ibert, he has played more than 250 concerts with orchestras and ensembles around the world. Chamber music is also a great love of Arno Bornkamp. He has a long-standing duo with pianist Ivo Janssen and is part of the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet (one of the world's most acclaimed saxophone quartets), which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008. Arno Bornkamp's many activities (including concerts, festivals, masterclasses, lectures) have taken him to many countries in Europe, the USA, the Far East and South America. The many CD's he has made since 1990 on various labels have garnered national and international praise. Arno Bornkamp is a renowned teacher, leading an international saxophone class at the 10 SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. In the summer he teaches at the 'International Saxophone Masterclass in Laubach' (Germany) and at the 'Université d'Eté Européenne pour saxophone' in Gap (France). Lena Ostrołucka Piano teacher and accompanist. Graduate Pyotr Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kiev on instrumental department, specialization – piano. She also led accompaniment lessons in vocal class and on opera studies there. Since 2000 she works in Poland. Lena Ostrołucka was many times honored for accompaniment on regional, national and international competitions from violin, flute, saxophone and trumpet classes. As a chamber musician she played with many prominent artists, such as: Charles Stolte – saxophone – Canada, Tomasz Strahl – cello – Poland, Paweł Gusnar – saxophone – Poland, Roman Gryń – trumpet – Poland, Łukasz Długosz – flute – Poland, Manfred Bockschweiger – trumpet – Germany, Wolfgang Bauer – trumpet – Germany. Paulina Kulesza She started musical education at the age of 14 in a Krzysztof Witkowski’s saxophone class, followed by Sławomir Bielski, with who she studied till 2010 in a Secondary State Music School in Białystok (Poland). During those years she has got a 3rd prize, later the distinction in the National Saxophone Festival in Przeworsk (Poland), a distinction in the National Audition of Chamber Music Groups in Wrocław (Poland), 3rd prize on the III International Competition for woodwind instruments in Wrocław (Poland). Paulina received two times a scholarship Otwarta Filharmonia Agrafki Muzycznej for young and talented musicians. From September 2010 Paulina started her study in Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of world fame saxophonist Arno Bornkamp. Till now she is the winner of the 1st prize of ClariSax Competition in Valenciennes (France). Paulina took part in a numerous masterclasses and festivals like: International Saxophone Week 2010 and 2012 (Amsterdam), Contemporary Music Masterclass with Jean-Marie Londeix and Christian Lauba (Amsterdam), numerous Baroque Masterclasses with Walter van Hauwe (Amsterdam). She had a pleasure to take lessons from the best saxophone players in the world: Christian Wirth, Vincent David, Claude Delangle, Jean-Yves Formeau (France), Jan Schulte-Bunert (Germany), PedroSaxo (Spain), Arno Bornkamp, Willem van Merwijk (Holland), Radek Knopp, Paweł Gusnar (Poland). Paulina is a member of Ebonit Saxophone Quartet (baritone saxophone), which was found in September 2011. They won Ottomani Concour for saxophone quartets in den Bosch (Holland). The quartet is a finalist of Almere Chamber Music Competition (Holland). SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. The Music School Hall FLUTE RECITAL András Adorján – flute Łukasz Długosz – flute Andrzej Jungiewicz – piano Program: Franz Doppler – Andante and Rondo op.25 Janusz Bielecki – Kolory Lata Antal Dorati – Duo Concertante Franz Doppler – Duettino Americana op.37 András Adorján András Adorján was born in Budapest, grew up in Copenhagen and lives since 1974 in Munich. He first studied dentistry, obtaining his dentist's diploma in Copenhagen in 1968. He completed his musical studies under the auspieces of Aurèle Nicolet and Jean-Pierre Rampal. After winning two international prizes in 1968: in Copenhagen "Jacob Gade Prize" and in Montreux the "Concours International de Flûte", András Adorján was unanimously awarded the "Premier Grand Prix" of the "Concours International de Flûte de Paris" in 1971. This was the beginning of an international career which has led him to appear worldwide as soloist with the best chamber and symphony orchestras. Between 1970 and 1987, thanks for his artistic activity, he received position of principal flautist of important symphony orchestras in Stockholm, Cologne, Baden-Baden and Munich. 1987 he was appointed professor at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and since 1996 he is teaching at the Musikhochschule in Munich. András Adorján is a welcome guest at many music festivals and he is very active in widening the flute literature by playing many by him (re)discovered pieces as well as 12 SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. More than 100 records and CDs (1988 Prize of the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik) testify to the eminent artistry of András Adorján. Łukasz Długosz Łukasz Długosz is a Polish flute player. He is a Freiburg’s Staatliche Hochschule für Musik graduate. There he learnt under the supervision of Mirjam Nastasi (2002-2003). He also completed Munich’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater in András Adorján’s class, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris under the supervision of Pierre-Yves Artaud (2007-2008) and Ransom Wilson’s class (2009-2010) at the Yale University in New Haven. Długosz is a multiple laureate of flute competitions, which were organized in Poland and abroad, among others: • 1997 – I prize on the Wind Instruments Competition in Kielce, • 1998 – I prize on the 26th National Young Musician Contest in Szczecinek, • 2001 – IV prize and the award for the biggest artistic individuality on the 9th Friedrich Kuhlau’s International Flute Competition in Uelzen; I prize on the 30th National Young Musician Contest in Szczecinek; I prize and special, Janos Balinta award on the 4th Polish Flute Festival in Sieradz, • 2003 – II prize on the 10th International Competition “Jeunesses Musicales” in Bucharest; Grand Prix and I prize on the 16th International Flute Competition in Ovada; III prize on the International Mozart Competition in Wiesbaden; III prize on the 10th Friedrich Kuhlau’s International Competition in Uelzen, • 2004 – I prize and three special awards on the 9th International Flute Competition in Timisoar, • 2005 – I prize on the 5th Leonardo de Lorenzo’s International Flute Competition in Viggiano, • 2006 – I prize on the Yamaha Contest in Mannheim; II prize on the 3rd Carl Nielsen’s International Competition in Odense; I prize on the International Flute Competition “Lions Club” in Marktoberdorf; I prize on the 2nd Competition in Oberstdorf, • 2007 – I prize and three special awards on the 4th International Flute Competition “Domenico Cimarosa” in Aversa, • 2008 – II prize on the 8th Jean Pierre Rampal’s International Competition in Paris. Łukasz Długosz is a laureate of prestige awards, such as: Gasteig-Musikpreis, Minister of Culture and National Heritage Award, Zeit-Preis, Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. OSKARA KOLBERGA W SZCZECINKU 13 12TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR WIND INSTRUMENTS „SZCZECINEK 2012” He is a soloist and chamber player, who’s giving concerts around 100 times per one year. He played among others in Poland, Germany, England, Austria, Romania, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, United States and Japan, where he worked with such conductors as: Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Helmut Rilling, James Levin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Jacek Rogala, John Axelrod and Krzysztof Słowiński. He performed pieces with many orchestras, among others with: NDR Sinfonieorchester, Bamberger Symphoniker, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Sinfonia Varsovia, Narodowa Orkiestra Symfoniczna Polskiego Radia, Orchestre de Paris, Odense Symfoniorkester, Kopenhagen Symphonieorchester, Münchener Kammerorchester, Orkiestra Kameralna Polskiego Radia “Amadeus”, Orkiestra Kameralna “Leopoldinum”, Orkiestra Filharmonii Świętokrzyskiej, Junge Münchner Philharmonie, Octopus Ensembel or Arcis Ensembel. He made many radio and television recordings in the country and abroad. In January 2010 he has recorded – together with London Symphony Orchestra – a CD with Michael Colin concert. He is a holder of many scholarships for artistic achievements. These scholarships are: Minister of Culture Scholarship, scholarships of: J&S Pro Bono Poloniae Foundation, Rosenberg-Stiftung, Otto Chelius-Stiftung, the President of Wrocław City, Culture Foundation, “Daj Szansę” Foundation, the President of Lublin City, the State Fund for Children and NIKE Lions Club in Warsaw. Andrzej Jungiewicz Andrzej Jungiewicz – a graduate of Prof. Józef Stompla’s piano class and chamber classes of Prof. Maria Szwajger-Kułakowska and Prof. Urszula Stańczyk from Music Academy in Katowice. At present he is a teacher at his maternal university and in Music Schools Complex in Katowice. He is a holder of Minister of Culture and Art Scholarship from 1986/1987. He is also a laureate: of piano competitions from Nowa Sól (1975), Sulechowo (1976); on the artistic scholarships of the Fryderyk Chopin’s Society in Warsaw (1985 and 1986); of the Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Łódź (1986) and the festival ‘Augustowskie Spotkania Młodych’ (1985). He took part in piano and chamber music masterclasses under the supervision of Barbara Halska, Ryszard Bakst, Rudolf Buchbinder, Konrad Richter. He has made recordings for radio and television. Together with double bass player – Irena Olkiewicz – they produced a CD ‘Thais’s Meditation’ (2003), and with pianist – Gabriela Szendzielorz – ‘Contemporary Silesian Composers’ Music for Two Pianists’ (2009). 14 SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. He cooperate as the chamber music player with many eminent musician from Poland and abroad. He accompanied for Jadwiga Kotnowska on concerts in Hong Kong, Pakistan and Malaysia in 2007. He is a accompanist on numerous masterclasses, among others from: • • • • flute (with Jadwiga Kotnowska, Jerzy Mrozik, Grzegorz Olkiewicz, Łukasz Długosz, Michel Martin Kofler, Trevor Wye, Philip Bernold, András Adorján, Peter-Lukas Graf, Mirjam Nastasi, Janos Ballint); saxophone (with Jean-Marie Londeix and Bernard Steuer); double bass (with Thomas Martin, David Walter, Irena Olkiewicz); clarinet (on the 20th Century Masters’ with the 21st Century Young Artists’ Meeting – with Maestro Michel Lethiec). Bach – Sonata g-moll – for soprano saxophone and piano Der Graf – „Aufregung“ – for alto saxophone Jan Schulte-Bunert Jan Schulte-Bunert began his career at just 14 years of age, when he has won first prizes at competitions such as national "Jugend Musiziert" competitions and the international competition in Kerkrade. He studied the saxophone at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with Johannes Ernst and at the Sweelinck-Conservatorium in Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp. Later a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) scholarship enabled him to study in Lyon with Jean-Denis Michat. He was a founding member of the saxophone quartet "Clair-Obscur" and works regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic. As a soloist he can often be seen on stage performing with renowned orchestras such as Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin and the orchestra of the Beethovenhalle Bonn. In 2003 Jan Schulte-Bunert was awarded the "Deutscher Musikwettbewerb" prize and the Cronenpreis of the Holsten-Brauerei AG. In 2007 his quartet clair-obscur became prizewinners at the International Chamber Music Competition "ADMC" in Illzach (France) and at the International "GAUDEAMUS" Competition in Amsterdam (Netherlands). 16 SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. OSKARA KOLBERGA W SZCZECINKU 12TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR WIND INSTRUMENTS „SZCZECINEK 2012” As well as numerous concerts given with his duo partner Florian von Radowitz, he regularly performs throughout Europe and the USA with his saxophone quartet. Jan SchulteBunert has already worked on many CD and radio productions. Recently a portrait of him and his quartet could be heard on many German radio stations. He is professor at the International Masterclass for Classical Saxophone in Laubach with Vincent David and Arno Bornkamp. Michał Francuz Michał Francuz started to learn piano in the Primary State Music School in Szczecin at the age of nine. Between 1992 and 1998 he continued his development in the State Music Lyceum in Szczecin in Dr. Mikołaj Szczęsny’s class. He is a graduate of Music Academy in Poznań, where he studied under the direction of Prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski. At present Francuz is a worker of Poznań Music Academy and he participates actively in academic concert life. He cooperates with student from Vocal Department and with string and instrumental as a educator on Instrumental Department. He also works at the Chamber Music Cathedral. It exists from around 10 years and specializes in contemporary music performing. ‘Flute o’clock’ was established in 2002, at present belong to it two flute players: Ewa Liebchen and Rafał Jędrzejewski. The ensemble uses whole flute instrumentarium – from bass flute, through alto until piccolo flute – presenting wide palette of colors, effects and sounds, which really far exceed classical perceiving this instrument. Currently, in cooperation with young composers, comes into being Polish repertoire dedicated to duo. The flutists get involved both in the development itself and promotion of Polish creativity on this chamber squad. They work together among others with: Jagoda Szmytka, Dariusz Przybylski, Tomasz Opałka, Wojciech Ziemowit Zych, Bartosz KowalskiBanasewicz, Sławomir Kupczak, Jakub Polaczyk or Dominik Karski. ‘Flute o’clock’ as the only one possesses also in one’s repertoire unique recital hugging present Japanese composers. In May 2010 – thanks for DUX publications – was released the first CD of this ensemble. The album has been distinguished by ‘Hi-Fi and Music for the Record of Year 2010’ monthly and was nominated to ‘Frederic 2011’ award from ‘The Phonographic Year Debut’ category. Doppler – Fantasy on "Rigolleto for two flutes” opera themes Elżbieta Woleńska Elżbieta Woleńska is a very active soloist and chamber player. She possesses 4 different flutes in her private collection, on which she successfully plays. Her musical specialization she’s widening for avantgarde and electroacoustic music, engaging in young composers projects. In December 2007 Woleńska released her debut CD with Claude Bolling’s music and pieces on flute solo. At present she performs new projects with Polish composers’ electroacoustic music and with Jagoda Szmytka’s electronic music for 4 flutes. In 2003 she graduated with distinction her studies in Jerzy Mrozik’s flute class at the Music Academy in Wrocław. In 2006 she obtained Art Doctor grade and currently she’s employed as a lecturer at her maternal university. Since 2007 she serves as a president of Polish Flutists’ Society and council president of the Foundation for Music and Sport Promotion “Nasz Sukces”. Elżbieta Woleńska is a laureate of national and international competitions in Olsztyn, Warsaw, the 2nd International Flute Competition in Cracow. She is also a finalist of International Contemporary Music Competition CHAIN. SZKOŁA MUZYCZNA I I II STOPNIA IM. OSKARA KOLBERGA W SZCZECINKU 21 12TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR WIND INSTRUMENTS „SZCZECINEK 2012” She is twofold Republic of Austria Government Scholarship and Polish Minister of Culture Scholarship holder. She participated in many masterclasses in Poland and abroad, among others by András Adorján, Julius Baker, Janos Balint, Peter-Lukas Graf. She also took part in jazz masterclasses by Delmar Brown and Brad Terry. She teaches students and pedagogues on courses and workshops in Primary and Secondary Music Schools. She is involved in Summer Music Workshops as well. Apart from workshops in music schools, she led also lectures on Summer Interpretation Course in Duszniki Zdrój and Flute Workshops in Zakopane. Lena Ostrołucka Piano teacher and accompanist. Graduate Pyotr Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kiev on instrumental department, specialization – piano. She also led accompaniment lessons in vocal class and on opera studies there. Since 2000 she works in Poland. Lena Ostrołucka was many times honored for accompaniment on regional, national and international competitions from violin, flute, saxophone and trumpet classes. As a chamber musician she played with many prominent artists, such as: Charles Stolte – saxophone – Canada, Tomasz Strahl – cello – Poland, Paweł Gusnar – saxophone – Poland, Roman Gryń – trumpet – Poland, Łukasz Długosz – flute – Poland, Manfred Bockschweiger – trumpet – Germany, Wolfgang Bauer – trumpet – Germany. 5th August 2012 (Sunday) 12.00 h.
