They Left Everything
This week, you are asked to review the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure. The theme of the campaign is: “…they left everything and followed Him.” (Luke 5:11)
The Apostles gave up everything to follow Jesus. You are not asked to do the same. Rather, you are asked to spend some time this week reflecting on the Annual
Catholic Appeal. While funding a number of Archdiocesan ministries, the Annual Catholic Appeal is also the largest philanthropic source of financial support
for ALL of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese.
As you review the work enabled by your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal, please reflect on God’s gifts to you. He has given you all that you have. Your
gifts to our parish, to the Archdiocese and to the work of the Church throughout the world are given in gratitude for the continuing gifts that God gives you.
Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they fund a significant portion of the work of our Archdiocese. After our parish goal of $22,680.00 is
reached in cash, 100% of the additional funds come back to our parish to help to fund our needs.
If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. For those of you that did not receive a mailing or
have not had time to respond to it, we will conduct our in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend.

W tym tygodniu prosimy o przejrzenie broszury dotyczącej Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej,Myślą przewodnią tegorocznej kwesty są słowa:”… zostawili wszystko i
poszli za Nim” (Łukasz 5,11)
Apostołowie porzucili wszystko, by iść za Jezusem. Nie prosimy cię, abyś postąpił tak samo. Prosimy jedynie abyś w tym tygodniu poświęcił trochę czasu i rozważył
możliwość włączenia się w Doroczną Kwestą Katolicką. Dochód z tej Kwesty finansuje działalność wielu projektów katolickich, wielu duszpasterstw i pracę wielu
kapłanów, ale przede wszystkim stanowi wsparcie finansowe dla WSZYSTKICH szkół w naszej archidiecezji.
Obserwując efekty pracy, które dokonały się dzięki darowiznom na Doroczną Kwestę Katolicką, warto zastanowić się nad głębszym rozumieniem daru. Ponieważ
każdy dar otrzymujemy od samego Boga, powinniśmy cześć z tych darów oddać na potrzeby swojej parafii, archidiecezji – szerzej myśląc - na rzecz Kościoła.

Esta semana se le pedirá a usted que lea el folleto de la Campańa Católica Anual que recibirá junto con el boletín. El tema de la Campańa es: “…abandonaron todo y
lo siguieron”. (Lucas 5:11)
Los Apóstoles abandonaron todo para seguir a Jesús. A usted no se le pide hacer lo mismo. Más bien, se le pide que esta semana use algo de su tiempo para
reflexionar sobre la Campańa Católica Anual, la cual financia un número importante de ministerios arquidiocesanos y es también la fuente filantrópica más
grande de apoyo financiero para TODAS las escuelas católicas de la Arquidiócesis.
Mientras revisa la lista de trabajos que son posibles gracias a su aportación a la Campańa Católica Anual, reflexione en las bendiciones que ha recibido del Seńor. Él

Today, St. Paul speaks about the greatest gift. I think you know what it is. St. Paul say, "The greatest of these is
love." Today's readings speak about three levels of love. Love, of course, is pure and simple in itself, but like light
passing through a prism, it has many facets. Today we see three levels.
The first is the level of emotions. Bad emotions can get us into trouble, but good emotions can better our relationships. St. Paul encourage us to cultivate good emotions and avoid bad ones: jealousy, brooding, quick-temper - and
so on. Love to some degree, depends on good emotions, but love involves a lot more than emotions. Perhaps you
have heard the saying: Love is not a feeling; love is a decision. That is the second level of love - to make a decision
and follow through. Today's Gospel illustrates the decision to love. Jesus returns to his home town. His old neighbors
should have received him enthusiastically. Instead, they turned against him. They got so angry they wanted to toss
him over a cliff. How Jesus reacted to this rejection can teach us a lot. Love is a sound decision, sustained by good
emotions. But love involves something else we cannot ignore. St. Paul makes it clear that love is a charism, a gift
from God. Love is a gift - and it takes open hands to receive a present. So love has three levels: emotions, decision
and gift. Love is a good emotion, beginning with a smile. Love is a decision - to carry through and to continue in face
of discouragement. Love, above all, is a gift. As St. Paul says, "Faith, hope, remain...but the greatest of these is love."

Św. Paweł śpiewa hymn dziękczynienia, swoje Magnificat. Jeden z najpiękniejszych hymnów, jaki zna literatura
światowa - hymn o miłości. Rzecz znamienna, nie jest to hymn sławiący miłość mężczyzny wobec kobiety, nie jest
to pieśń miłosna, jedna z milionów, jakie napisali zakochani, by śpiewać swoje szczęście płynące ze spotkania z
ukochaną czy umiłowanym. Jest to pieśń sławiąca samą miłość. Paweł objawia szczęście, jakie jest zawarte w tym,
że on kocha, że nauczył się kochać, że osiągnął pełnię dojrzałości, bo opanował najważniejszą sztukę, która decyduje
o szczęściu człowieka, o jego bogactwie, o jego dojrzałości. Paweł zestawia z miłością wszystkie inne umiejętności i
porównuje je do miedzi brzęczącej, do cymbałów brzmiących. Tylko jedna jedyna umiejętność jest prawdziwą
wartością zdolną uszczęśliwić człowieka. Niewielu ludzi wchodzi na drogę doskonalenia swej miłości, niewielu
zatem dochodzi do pełni dojrzałości. A przecież jest to jedyna droga do pełni człowieczeństwa. Paweł dostrzegł tę
drogę: „Gdy byłem dzieckiem, mówiłem jak dziecko, czułem jak dziecko, myślałem jak dziecko. Kiedy zaś stałem
się mężem, wyzbyłem się tego, co dziecięce" (1 Kor 13,11).
Chrześcijaństwo to droga do najwyższej dojrzałości! Jeżeli szukamy w życiu szczęścia, to nie wolno nam poprzestać
na przeciętności. Często wracajmy do hymnu miłości św. Pawła i uczyńmy wszystko, by „wyzbyć się tego, co
dziecięce" i osiągnąć pełnię dojrzałości.

Hoy, San Pablo habla del mayor don. Creo que ustedes saben que es. San Pablo dice, "El amor es la mayor."
Lecturas de hoy hablan de tres nivels de amor. Amor, desde luego, es puro y sencillo, pero como luz que pasa por un
prisma, tiene muchas facetas. Hoy vemos tres niveles. El primero es el nivel de emociones. Emociones malas pueden
causarnos dificultades, pero buenas emociones pueden mejorar nuestras relaciones. San Pablo no anima a cultivar
buenas emociones y evitar las malas: celos, tristeza, mal genio, coraje, etc. Amor a cierta medida, depende de buenas
emociones, pero el amor es mucho mas que emociones. Quizas han escuchado el dicho: Amor no es un sentimiento,
es una decision. Eso es el segundo nivel del amor - hacer una buena decision y seguirla.
El evangelio muestra la decision de amar. Jesus regresa a su pueblo. Sus vecinos anteriores deben de haberlo
recibido con entusiasmo. Pero, lo rechazaron. Reaccionaron con tanta colera que querria matarlo. La forma que Jesus
respondio a ese rechazo puede ensenarlo mucho. Amor es una decision solida, sostenida por buenas emociones. Pero
el amor tiene algo mas que no podemos ignorar. San Pablo aclara que el amor es un carisma, un don de Dios. Amor
es un don - y requiere manos abiertas para recibir un regalo. Entonces, el amore tiene tres niveles: emociones,
decision y don. Amor es una buena emocion, comenzando con una sonrisa. Amor es una decision - para cumplir a
pesar de rechazos. Amor, sobre todo, es un don. Como dice San Pablo. "Tenemos estas tres virtudes: la fe, la
esperanza y el amor; pero el amor es la mayor de las tres."

THE HOLY SPIRIT, INTERPRETER OF SCRIPTURE
In Sacred Scripture, God speaks to man in a human way. To
interpret Scripture correctly, the reader must be attentive to what
the human authors truly wanted to affirm and to what God
wanted to reveal to us by their words.
In order to discover the sacred author’s intention, the reader
must take into account the conditions of their time and culture,
the literary genres in use at that time, and the modes of feeling,
speaking, and narrating then current. For the fact is that truth is
differently presented and expressed in the various types of historical writing, in prophetical and poetical texts, and in other
forms of literary expression.
But since Sacred Scripture is inspired, there is another and no
less important principle of correct interpretation, without which
Scripture would remain a dead letter. Sacred Scripture must be
read and interpreted in the light of the same Spirit by whom it
was written.

DUCH ŚW. - INTERPRETATOR PISMA ŚWIĘTEGO
W Piśmie św. Bóg mówi do człowieka w sposób ludzki. Aby
dobrze interpretować Pismo św. trzeba więc zwracać uwagę na
to, co autorzy ludzcy rzeczywiście zamierzali powiedzieć i co
Bóg chciał nam ukazać przez ich słowa.
W celu zrozumienia intencji autorów świętych trzeba
uwzględnić okoliczności ich czasu i kultury, rodzaje literackie
używane w danej epoce, a także przyjęte sposoby myślenia,
mówienia i opowiadania. Inaczej bowiem ujmuje się i wyraża
prawdę w różnego rodzaju tekstach historycznych, prorockich,
poetyckich czy w innych rodzajach literackich.
Ponieważ Pismo św jest natchnione, istnieje druga zasada
poprawnej interpretacji, nie mniej ważna niż poprzednia, bez
której Pismo św. byłoby martwą literą. Pismo św. powinno być
czytane i interpretowane w tym samym Duchu, w jakim zostało
napisane.

EL ESPIRITU SANTO, INTERPRETE DE LA
ESCRITURA
En la sagrada Escritura, Dios habla al hombre a la manera de los
hombres. Por tanto, para interpretar bien la Escritura, es preciso
estar atento a lo que los autores humanas quisieron
verdaderamente afirmar y a lo que Dios quiso manifestarnos
mediante sus palabras.
Para descubrir la intencion de los autores sagrados es preciso
tener en cuenta las condiciones de su tiempo y de su cultura, los
generos literarios usados en aquella epoca, las maneras de sentir,
de hablar y de narrar en aquel tiempo. Pues la verdad se presenta
y se enuncio de modo diverso en obras de diversa indole
historica, en libros profeticos o poeticos, o en otros generos
literarios.
Pero, dado que la Sagrada Escritura es inspirada, hay otro
principio de la recta interpretacion, no menos importante que el
precedente, y sin el cual la Escritura seria letra muerta. La
Escritura se ha de leer e enterpretar con el mismo Espiritu con
que fue escrita.

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, Saint Bruno will once again be hosting a fundraiser. Junior High students will recreate
the classic game show “To Tell The Truth.” Local celebrities will join us as the stars of the show. All profits will be used
to benefit the school.
We are looking to our parishioners to show their support of Saint Bruno School by participating in our ad book. It is a
great way to show your support for Catholic education. You could place an ad for your families, in memory of a deceased, acknowledge an accomplishment, to promote your organization or just to show your support.
Full page ads (5x8) are available for $100.00. Half page ads (5x4) are available for $50.00 and quarter page ads (5x2)
are available for $25.00. Be sure to let us know how you want your ad to read. Please send your check and ad to the
school or rectory office or place it in the collection basket by February 1, 2010.

ten days before publication. The editorial staff reserves the right to
make changes to fit our format. Holiday weeks the bulletin deadline
is fifteen days before publication. Electronic submissions are
accepted at our parish email address.

CONTRIBUTIONS
Now that the New Year is
here, we would like to remind
you that a year-end statement
of contributions is available from the rectory. Please
contact the rectory by phone or email with your request
and provide your envelope number ready as well as
your name and phone number.
BAPTISM
Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal
Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday
after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on
the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish
Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least
8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION
CALLS
Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.
CONFESSIONS: Thursday 3:00PM - 4:00PM and 5:00 PM
- 6:00 PM, Saturday from 4:00 to 4:45 PM and Weekdays
after the 7:00 AM Mass.
CHRZEST Prosimy dzwonić na plebanię aby omówić
sprawę chrztu św. Rodzice i chrzestni są proszeni aby się
zapisali na lekcję przygotowawczą do chrztu św.
Chrzty w języku angielskim udzielane są w pierwszą
niedzielę miesiąca w czasie Mszy św. o godzinie 9.00AM lub
12.15PM. Chrzty w języku polskim udzielane są w drugą
niedzielę miesiąca w czasie Mszy św o godz 10.30 AM.
Chrzty w języku hiszpańskim udzielane są w trzecią niedzielę
miesiąca w czasie Mszy św. o godzinie 2:30PM.
MAłŻEŃSTWO.Prosimy dzwonić na plebanie conajmniej 8
miesięcy przed planowanym ślubem.Data ślubu bedzie
ustalona podczas pierwszego spotkania z księdzem lub
diakonem.Wymagana jest precana czyli kurs
przedmałżeński..
KOMUNIA ŚW I SAKRAMENT CHORYCH.
Prosimy dzwonić na plebanie aby prosić księdza o sakrament
chorych .Jeśli ktoś jest w szpitalu i potrzebuje ministrów
eucharysti prosimy również dzwonić na plebanie.
SPOWIEDŹ
W każdą sobotę o godz 4.00 PM do godz.4.45 PM
W ciągu tygodnia po Mszy św o godz.7.00 AM
W każdy czwartek od godz.3.00 PM do godz. 4.00 PM oraz
5:00 PM do godz 6:00 PM
BAUTISMO. Por favor llamar a la rectoria para organizar
bautismo. Los Padres y Padrinos necesitan estar registrados
para classes bautismales. Bautismo son cada tercer domingo a
las 2:30 PM
LAS BODAS. Por favor llamar a la rectoria 8 meses antes de
la boda. Durante la primera reunion con el Padre o Diacono,sera confirmada la fecha de la boda. Necesitan una
precana para poder casarse.
SACRAMENTO DE ENFERMOS Y COMUNION. LLamar a la rectoria para desirle al sacerdote que si puede venir.
Si usted esta hospilizado o en la casa y necesita que vaya un
ministro de comunion,por favor llamar a la rectoria.
