The aim of the courses:
The Academic Writing courses develop skills of writing
academic texts in English at an advanced level of
proficiency.

Knowledge:
Having completed the Academic Writing 1 course, a student
 knows academic writing principles: style, register, form, content, etc.,
 knows the principles of MLA.
Skills:
Having completed the Academic Writing 1 course, a student:
 can write clear, well-structured academic paragraphs on a variety of subjects relating to
his/her interests, incorporating and documenting information and arguments from different
sources,
 can express views and news effectively in writing and relate to the views of others at B2 +
level,
 can organize and support ideas in a logical and argumentative way,
 can identify and apply methods of coherence, cohesion and unity,
 can identify most typical errors, edit and revise the text,
 can identify different parts/ types of a paragraph,
 can differentiate between informal and formal styles,
 can differentiate between bibliographic styles and can use one consistently (MLA).
Knowledge:
Having completed the Academic Writing 2 course, a student:

knows academic writing principles: style, register, form, content, etc.,

knows the differences between bibliographic styles: APA,MLA and Chicago Manual of Style,

knows the principles of MLA .
