STEWARDSHIP
AWARENESS
Responding to the
Call….”Here I Am, Lord!”
There is an urgency to
Jesus’ call to each person! Jesus does not call
us to follow Him some time in the future, but in the
“here and now” - at this moment, in these circumstances. There is no room for delay. Let us recall
Jesus’ own words: “Go and proclaim the kingdom
of God...No one who sets a hand to the plow and
looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom
of God.” (Luke 9:60.62).
Next week you will lean more about Responding to
the Call. As we continue our study of Stewardship
please read the following passages from scripture
(Luke, 9:57 -62 and Luke, 10:1-3) to be better prepared to respond to the “Call.”
Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. As a means of expressing
the commitment we have made to protect children, the Archdiocese
of Chicago is joining other church groups, child protection agencies,
and civil agencies by engaging in activities that will keep the protection of children at the forefront in our parishes, schools, and agencies.
Let us ask God’s blessing that we may keep joy and trust alive in the
children entrusted to our care. Thank you for all you do to protect
children.

The Parents’ Club of St. Mary’s School is sponsoring
a FISH FRY every Friday during Lent in the school
hall from 2PM to 6PM. All proceeds will benefit the
school.
Fish dinners are $6.00 per person.
Drinks will sell for $1.00 each.
Additional side dishes will cost $1.00
Carry-out services will be available.

MARKET DAY PROGRAM
Our parish school benefits greatly from
the Market Day Program. All profits are
deposited directly into the School Fund.
This month our school could receive a
Bonus and our profits will grow if we can sell at least 249 pies
(see insert in order sheets)! The pies are delicious and can be
used as a part of your Easter dinner! Orders are due by Tuesday, March 28th. They can be dropped off at the school office or
at the rectory office. Internet orders can be placed as late as
Monday, April 3rd, (by noon). Pick-up Date/Time is THURSDAY,
APRIL 6TH from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM in the school hall. We can
arrange for your food to be delivered to your home - please call
Blanca at (708) 795-7848 for more details about home delivery
and other information you may need. Your cooperation will be

Sunday, March 26. John 3:14-21
Ask a physicist to define light, and you might
learn that light consists of electromagnetic
radia-tion visible to the human eye. Ask a
biologist to define life, and you might learn
that it manifests itself in growth, reproduction, and response to stimulus. Ask one of the writers of the New
Testament, however, and you'll get an entirely different
answer. Most likely, you'll hear that light and life are divine
gifts from God given to us in Jesus Christ.
There is so much more to the Christian life than the "light"
of intellectual understanding. There is so much more to
"life" than simply surviving in this world. Endless gal-leries
of divine revelation and unmer-ited grace exist that can
bring us to a personal knowledge of God and his plan for
our lives—to his own light and life.
Where do we find this revelation? In Jesus Christ, the
Word of God. According to the church, "in giving us his
Son, God spoke everything to us at once—and he has no
more to say" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 65). Now
we can spend the whole of our lives digging ever more
deeply into that revelation. "He is like a rich mine with
many pockets containing treasures; however deep we dig
we will never find their end or their limit" (St. John of the
Cross, Spiritual Canticle).
Why do we need the light and life of Christ? Because
without him, we are dead. Scripture tells us that because
of sin, we have forfeited our inheritance of divine life. The
law of death holds sway over all of us, and there is no
escaping it on our own power. Only the wooden cross and
the open grave can restore this life to us. Faith in Christ
can open so many more doors than we can imagine. Let
us come to Jesus today and ask for a double portion of his
light and his life.

be like you, bringing light and life into a needy world."

CUARTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
A los seis meses el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una
ciudad de Galilea llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con
un hombre llamado José, de la estirpe de David; la virgen se
llamaba María. El ángel, entrando en su presencia, dijo: Alégrate,
llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo. Ella se turbó ante estas
palabras y se preguntó qué saludo era aquel. El ángel le dijo: No
temas, María, porque has encontrado gracia ante Dios. Concebirás en tu vientre y darás a luz un hijo, y le pondrás por nombre
Jesús. Será grande, se llamará Hijo del Altísimo, el Señor Dios le
dará el trono de David, su Padre, reinará sobre la casa de Jacob
para siempre, y su reino no tendrá fin. Y María dijo al ángel:
¿Cómo será eso, pues no conozco a varón? El ángel le contestó:
El Espíritu Santo vendrá sobre ti, y la fuerza del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra; por eso el Santo que va a nacer se llamará

STEWARDSHIP
La vocación cristiana es esencialmente un lla-mado a ser discípulo de Jesús y la correspon-sabilidad es parte de eso. Además, los
cristianos están llamados a ser personas co-rresponsables de la
vocación personal que reciben. Cada uno de nosotros tiene que
dis-cernir, aceptar y vivir con alegría y generosi-dad los compromisos, deberes, y funciones a que ha sido llamado por Dios.
¿Qué buscan? Jesús les preguntó. "Rabí" le contestaron,
"¿dónde vives?" "Vengan y verán." Se quedaron con él el resto
del día fascinados por sus palabras y por el poder de su personalidad.
Profundamente afectados por esa experiencia, Andrés va a buscar a su hermano Simón y lo lleva a Jesús. El Señor le dice: "Te
llamarás Kefas"—Piedra. El día siguiente, al encon-trarse con
Felipe, Jesús le dice: "Sigúeme." Felipe se encuentra con su
amigo Natanael y para desafiar su incredulidad se lo presenta al
Señor. Pronto Natanael también se convence: "Maestro, ¡tú eres
el Hijo de Dios! ¡Tú eres el Rey de Israel!"
Una es la naturaleza personal del llamado de Jesucristo. Él no
llama a los discípulos como si fueran una muchedumbre sin rostro
sino como a individuos únicos. "¿De cuándo acá me conoces?" le
preguntó Natanael. "Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas
bajo la higuera, ahí te conocí." El sabe las historias personales de
la gente, sus luchas y debili-dades, su destino; El tiene un propósito en mente para cada uno.
Este propósito es la vocación individual. "Pero el eterno plan de
Dios," dice el Papa Juan Pablo II, "se nos revela a cada uno sólo
a través del desarrollo histórico de nuestra vida y de sus acontecimientos" (Christifideles Laici, 58). Cada vida humana, cada vocación personal, es única.
Y aún así las vocaciones de todos los cris-tianos tienen ciertos
elementos comunes. Uno de estos es el llamado a ser discípulo.
De hecho, ser discípulos—seguir a Cristo y tratar de vivir su vida
como si fuera la nuestra—es la vocación de los cristianos; ser
discípulos en este sentido es la vida cristiana.
La otra lección que vemos en el relato de Juan es que las personas no escuchan el llamado del Señor aisladas de otras personas. Otros discípulos son instrumentos de su vocación y ellos
también serán instrumentos del llamado del Señor para otros. Las
vocaciones se comu-nican, se piensan, se aceptan y se viven
dentro de una comunidad de fe que es una comu-nidad de discípulos (cf. Redemptor Hominis del Papa Juan Pablo II, 21) y sus
miembros se ayudan mutuamente a oír la voz del Señor y a responder.

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a Nicodemo:Lo
mismo que Moisés elevó la serpiente en el
desierto, así tiene que ser elevado el Hijo del
hombre, para que todo el que cree en él tenga
vida eterna. Tanto amó Dios al mundo que
entregó a su Hijo único para que no perezca
ninguno de los que creen en él, sino que tengan vida eterna. Porque Dios no mandó su
Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino
para que el mundo se salve por Él. El que cree
en él no será condenado; el que no cree ya está
condenado, porque no ha creído en el nombre
del Hijo único de Dios. El juicio consiste en
esto: que la luz vino al mundo, y los hombres
prefirieron la tiniebla a la luz, porque sus
obras eran malas. Pues todo el que obra perversamente detesta la luz y no se acerca a la
luz, para no verse acusado por sus obras. En
cambio, el que realiza la verdad se acerca a la

kwietnia Mszą świętą o godz. 10:30 z rana
oraz o godz. 7:00 wieczorem. W następne
dni tj. od poniedziałku 3-go kwietnia do
czwartku 6-go kwietnia Msze święte z
nauką rekolekcyjną będą o godz. o godzinie 12:00 w południe oraz o 7-ej wieczorem. Rekolekcje będą trwały pięć

STEWARDSHIP
Powołanie
Głównym powołaniem chrześcijan jest bycie uczniem
Chrystusa. Stewardship jest częścią tego powołania i
pomoże nam odkryć, na czym ono polega. Każdy z nas
powinien zaakceptować i z wdzięcznością przyjąć otrzymane powołanie. Opis powołania pierwszy uczniów,
który znajduje się na początku Ewangelii Św. Jana przybliża nam tę sprawę.
Kiedy Jan Chrzciciel stał ze swoimi uczniami – Andrzejem i Janem i zobaczył Jezus przechodzącego obok,
wskazał na Niego jako Baranka Bożego. Oni natychmiast
poszli za Nim. Jezus zapytał ich „Czego szukacie?”. Oni
odpowiedzieli „Rabbi, gdzie mieszkasz?”, Jezus powiedział „Chodźcie a zobaczycie.” Poszli więc i spędzili z
Nim cały dzień, zachwyceni Jego słowami i osobowością.
Głęboko poruszony tym doświadczeniem, Andrzej idzie
do swojego brata Szymona i przyprowadza go do Jezusa.
Jezus wita go słowami „Ty będziesz nazywał się Kefas –
to znaczy „skała”. Następnego dnia spotykając Filipa,
Jezus powiedział do niego „Pójdź za mną”. Filip spotyka
swego przyjaciela Natanaela i znając jego wątpliwości,
przyprowadza go do Jezusa. Wkrótce Natanael także

jesteś Królem Izraela. Jezus nie tylko powołuje ludzie do
siebie, lecz także formuje i wysyła ich do służenia.
W pierwszej części Ewangelii zawartych jest wiele treści.
Po pierwsze Jezus powołuje każdego z nas osobiście i ma
specjalne zadanie dla każdego z nas. Jan Paweł II powiedział, że poprzez historię naszego życia Bóg objawia nam
swój plan. Wszystkie powołania mają wspólny element,
którym jest bycie uczniem Chrystusa. To oznacza, że
nasze życie ma być naśladowaniem Jego życia.
Po drugie żyjąc w odosobnieniu ludziom trudno jest rozpoznać swoje powołanie, dlatego potrzebują wspólnoty,
która by im w tym pomogła. Miejscem rozpoznania naszego powołania jest zatem wspólnota.
