„Take 10! Data visualizations” / Zamek Cieszyn 15.07–18.07.2014
Zamek Cieszyn invites students and designers to participate in the Summer School of Design 2014.
This time we will create infographics and data visualizations. For each of them hides a process and a story. We have for you
a few great stories! Join to the workshop to create infographics inspired of Zamek Cieszyn’s 10th Anniversary which we’re
going to celebrate in 2015. We are waiting for designers, for whom cieszyn’s design center will be a source of knowledge
and inspiration to create a unique data visualizations.
Workshop leaders
PhD. Justyna Kucharczyk / Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Department of Visual Communication
Designer of visual communication; co–author of a system of visual information for the Katowice International Airport in
Pyrzowice and for the University of Economics in Katowice, as well as for the building of Polish National Radio Symphony
Orchestra in Katowice and the teaching-and-sport centre in Kleszczów.
Associate Professor Tomasz Bierkowski PhD. / Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Graphic Design Department
Graphic designer. Winner of the Poster Festival in Krakow, Silesian Icon 2005, cooperates with the Museum of Art in Lodz,
„Zachęta” – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw and the Centre of Contemporary Art „Kronika” in Bytom. Author of the „About
typography”.
PhD. Jacek Mrowczyk / Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Graphic Design Department
Graphic designer. Co–founder and editor of a Polish design quarterly „2+3D”. Jury member of national and international
graphic design competitions. Author of several articles about design and a Polish Dictionary of Typographic Terms. Member
of the Polish Graphic Design Association (STGU) and Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI).
PhD. Marcel Benčík / Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Department of Visual Communication
Graphic Designer. Finished his Master’s degree in 2004 and PhD studies in 2007. Works as pedagogue at Department of
Visual Communication at the AFAD since 2007. Organizes the international graphic design conference KUPÉ. Marcel focuses
on working on project related to architecture, public and social influence. Author of the national pavilion Slovakia and the
Czech Republic at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

All interested in participating in the workshop please send your application together with the portfolio (link or file maximum 5 MG) till 30.06.2014 at the following e-mail address: [email protected]
The number of participants is limited! Please note that registrations will be not handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The jury selected participants who will be able to attend in the workshop. The results will be announced 07.07.2014.
After the announcement of the results the qualified participants will be asked to make payment for participation in the
workshop.
The cost of participation in the Summer School of Design:
200,00 PLN / 50 EUR students
300,00 PLN / 75 EUR others
Equipment: Please all persons who qualify to participate in the workshop to bring your laptop (equipped with Adobe software) and a camera.
Accommodation: The organizers do not cover accommodation costs. For participants provides special prices in Castel’s
guest rooms. The organizer provides lunches.
