Hi Chris,
I’m going on a school trip on Friday for a week. I’m very excited because
we’re going to stay at a campsite. It’s much cheaper than the three-star hotel
last year, but I have a problem. Can you look after Remy? I can’t take him
with me and anyway Remy doesn’t like travelling by bus. I think he gets some
kind of travel sickness. He just needs food once a day and his cage will need
cleaning on Tuesday. He also likes having a little run around on the floor.
Don’t worry, he’s no trouble and he doesn’t bite. I’d ask my parents but they’re
a bit scared of rats.
Thanks a lot,
Phil

The Merryland shopping centre is situated 5 km west of the town centre. There are
two main shops, a supermarket and a Do-it-Yourself store with a garden centre. In
addition, there are sixty smaller shops. They sell everything from clothes to
electrical things. A children’s play area, a cinema, a car park for 2,000 cars and a
large eating area make Merryland a great place to come for a day out with the
family.

a) To inform about a new place in Bath.
b) To complain about a new shopping centre.
c) To describe ways of spending free time.
The new Grange Park Sports Centre is now open. It’s just in the centre, opposite
the cinema. The building is huge. There are five tennis courts, two halls for
gymnastics or basketball and an Olympic-sized swimming pool for good
swimmers. There’s also a fun pool for children and adults who prefer to relax. In
addition to all the sports facilities, there’s a very nice café. It’s above the sports
halls, has nice wooden tables and glass walls and roof all the way round. These
let you watch the sports as you drink your coffee. I had a very relaxing time
watching my two children playing tennis. That was enough exercise for me. The
Grange Park Sports Centre really is for everyone, even those who don’t like
sport.

Dear Mary,
I want to tell you about a fantastic place in Cardiff! It is called Llanishen Sports Centre
and I have no idea why I didn’t know about it before. It’s not new, it opened in 1993. I
went there yesterday with my sister to play badminton. Her boyfriend invited her there
for bowling on her birthday last month and then she decided to take me there! The
sports centre is situated next to my sister’s home, 6 km north of the centre. We
simply must go there together!
Patricia
