“Mining, Iron and Steel Triptych”
An audio-visual and musical journey from past and tradition to
modernity and innovation.
It is a spectacular performance that consists of three parts:
Values, At work and After work. The show, based on two old mining and
iron-and-steel industry song-books from 1900 (Bochum) and 1926 (Lviv),
takes another look at the old days of Silesian working tradition, everyday
life of the miners and steelworkers, and industrial transformation from
the past to the present times.
SZPAS BAND
SZPAS, a word meaning “fun” in Silesian dialect but also a name of
music group consisting exclusively of Siemianowice Slaskie City Hall
clerks. It is the most interesting amateur music group in Poland and
probably the only city hall clerks group in Europe. The members of the
group surpass the boarders of their profession and seek out new
challenges in music and art, combining their love of music with and joy
of playing.
