Kolorowe wst´gi - „Symptomy” pokazujà mieszkanie i pracowni´ artysty. (...) Die Anwesenheit von Symptomen in der Umwelt ist die Widerlegung gefertigter Bilder, die Widerlegung jeglicher Wirklichkeit und angenommener Definitionen der Dinge.“ Ryszard Tokarczyk Ryszard Tokarczyk, a professor at the Architecture Department of the Szczecin Technical University and the Higher School of Applied Art in Szczecin. Colourful ribbons - ‘Symptoms’ represent the artist’s apartment and atelier. “Symptoms in their linear or point form are not paintings, they are signs of internal and external reality. They are signs of life - they arise, exist, change and disappear. (...) The presence of Symptoms in our environment is a protest and revision of fixed pictures and both realities, as well as of the adopted definitions of objects.“ Ryszard Tokarczyk Od 1995 roku w oficynie kamienicy przy ul. Wojciecha - dawny cmentarz garnizonowy za∏o˝ony w koƒcu lat 40. XIX wieku, gdy teren dawnej nekropolii wojskowej zaj´ty zosta∏ pod budow´ Nowego Miasta. Cmentarz zlokalizowano u stóp fortyfikacji otaczajàcych miasto, przy drodze wiodàcej od Bramy Berliƒskiej (obecnie Portowej) w kierunku zachodnim - do wsi Tanowo (dawniej Falkenwalder Straße - obecnie ul. Wojska Polskiego). General Anders Park at St. Wojciech Street General Anders Park at St. Wojciech Street - a former garrison cemetery established at the end of 1840s, after the area of the old garrison cemetery had been assigned for the construction of the New Town. The cemetery was located at the base of the fortifications surrounding the city, along the road leading from the Berlin Gate (at present the Port Gate) to the west, to Tanowo village (former Falkenwalderstraße now Wojska Polskiego St.). The preserved Wi´ckowskiego St., which limits the old cemetery site, is a relic of the past route. French officers, who died in Szczecin as prisoners of the Franco-Prussian war, were buried with honours here in 1871. Their graves are commemorated by a stone with a memorial plaque located near the presbytery of the Jesus’ Heart Church, which was built in 1913 on the cemetery grounds from the side of Zwyci´stwa Square. Earlier, the area of the cemetery was reduced by the construction of St. Wojciech Street at the beginning of the 90s. At that time the area had already been designated in the plans as an oasis of greenery. While transforming the cemetery into a park efforts were made to preserve the most valuable tombstones, among them the tombstone of the Szczecin resident Friedrich von Wrangl (1784-1877), a field marshal. His tombstone was made in 1878 from sandstone and white marble with the inscription ‘Love never ends’ and castings symbolising his life: a helmet, a sword and a laurel wreath.
