A Family Occasion
“Rise up in splendour! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you.” —Isaiah 60:1
O
n every Epiphany,
the Lord commands us to “rise
up in splendour,” to put
the light of our lives in
Christ on the lampstand
to give light to all in darkness (see Lk 8:16). We
must let our “little light
shine” and let the world
know the true message of
Christmas — that Jesus
became a human being,
was born, died on a cross,
and rose from the dead to
save us.
Before we rise up, we
must see two things. First,
we must see what God
has done for us, His glory
shining on us (Is 60:2).
Then, we must see what
sin and Satan have done
to the world, for “darkness covers the earth, and
thick clouds cover the
peoples” (Is 60:2). When
we see the grace we’ve
received and the deadly
darkness of the world, we
know we have the responsibility and the power to
rise up. “For God, Who
said, ‘Let light shine out
of darkness,’ has shone
in our hearts, that we in
turn might make known
the glory of God shining
on the face of Christ” (2
Cor 4:6).
To rise, we must see.
To see, we must repent.
On this greatest day of the
Christmas season, let’s
give Jesus three gifts —
not gold, frankincense,
and myrrh, but repentance, seeing, and rising.
Jesus gave us the gift of
His birth. May we give
Him the gift of new birth
for many in darkness.

World Day of
Prayer
for Peace
Every day, we hear of issues such as war, poverty, or
persecution that affect our brothers and sisters around
the world. The problems can seem so large, complex,
and remote that they can leave us paralysed, overwhelmed, or even numb. We may wonder, “What can
I possibly do?”
In his Message for the 49th World Day of Peace, to
be celebrated on Jan. 1, 2016, Pope Francis urges us to
overcome such challenges by replacing isolation with
community, and indifference with solidarity.
In our families, schools, and institutions, we must
foster awareness about problems such as intolerance,
religious persecution, slavery, war, and the plight of
refugees. We must encounter our neighbours, engage
in civil dialogue, cooperate, and build skills to together
address these problems in meaningful ways.
Working together, we can creatively overcome inaction and indifference and work toward peace and respect for the lives and dignity of all people.

Bożej Rodzicielki Maryi
Jednym z zasadniczych celów świata jest przekonanie człowieka, że jest słaby. Wszystkie dążenia
sterowane przez świat zmierzają w tym kierunku,
by przekonać każdego z nas, że jesteśmy marni i
niewiele potrafimy. „Jesteś słaby. Twoje ciało jest
słabe. Medycyna mówi o prawach tego ciała. Nie
podejmuj trudu. My zrobimy wszystko, aby to twoje
ciało zaspokoić, tą najkrótszą, najłatwiejszą drogą.
Nawet to co jest nienormalne i niemoralne możemy
usprawiedliwić”. Tak człowiek staje się niewolnikiem
ciała. „Masz słabą wolę. My wyprodukujemy więcej
milionów alkoholu i używek w trosce o ciebie. Jesteś
słaby, jesteś chory, to nie grzech, ty musisz się napić,
naćpać, jesteś słaby”. Tak człowiek staje się niewolnikiem kieliszka i popularnych używek. Tysiące
ludzi jest zaangażowanych w to, aby z punktu widzenia gospodarczego, ekonomicznego, politycznego,
społecznego, psychologicznego wmówić w ciebie,
że jesteś bardzo słaby. Bo w takim położeniu, co ty
potrafisz zrobić? Na co cię stać? I oto staje dziś przy
mnie Bóg i mówi: „Synu, mój Synu, czemuś uwierzył
tej propagandzie, że jesteś niewolnikiem i że jesteś
slaby? Czemuś uwierzył, że z Moich rąk wyszedłeś
taki słaby i kaleki? Komuś ty uwierzył? Ja, twój Bóg,
twój Ojciec, a ty mój syn.
Mój syn nie może być niewolnikiem niczego i nikogo. Ja, kochający i wszechmogący Bóg, mający do
dyspozycji wszystko, nigdy się nie zgodzę na to, aby
mój syn był niewolnikiem. Obudź się synu, odkryj
na nowo swoją godność, wszystko co jest moje, jest
do twojej dyspozycji. To jest prawda, którą nam dziś
przekazuje św. Paweł w Liście do Galatów. Składamy
sobie życzenia. Chciałbym Wam życzyć, abyście na
początku roku odkryli, że nie jesteście niewolnikami
i że nie jesteście słabi, że jesteście synami i córkami,
dziećmi Boga, i możecie Mu powiedzieć „Abba, Ojcze”, i że macie do dyspozycji wszelkie Jego bogactwo, bo jesteście dziedzicami Ojca Niebieskiego. To
jest prawda, która ma moc zamienić cały Nowy Rok
w rok wewnętrznego szczęścia i prawdziwej radości.
Niech Matka Najświętsza prowadzi was bezpiecznie
przez wszystkie dni tego roku i wyprasza każdemu z
was swe Matczyne błogosławieństwo, wraz z łaską
głębokiej wiary w Jej Syna. Bogurodzico, Dziewico
– módl się za nami!!!

The group meets for
Mass in St Joseph’s
Chapel, Lawside, on the
third Saturday of the
month, at 10am.

own family, and in my greater
family, knowing that in your
Kingdom, we will truly be one
family, united by your sacrifice
on the cross.

Our Children’s Liturgy will start again at

International
Altar Servers
Altar Servers are the
young people we see
assisting the priest on
the altar. We accept
them as being there,
or not, and probably
think nothing more
about them. Those we
have in this parish we
value greatly. Without
their efforts and the
support of their families the liturgy would
be the poorer and we
extend our thanks and
gratitude to them.
The Altar Servers we
have, although young,
do sterling service, but
we don’t have enough
of them.
We ask all parents of
children aged nine and
upwards, who have
made their First Communion, to encourage
their children to consider becoming Altar
Servers.
With an increase
in Altar Servers we
can share their duties
among a greater num-
ber, have an increased
presence on the altar
and be able to provide
assistance and support
to the celebrant at every service he conducts.
This will enhance
the liturgy and, at the
same time, help our
young people to a
greater understanding
of the faith.
If there are any experienced Altar Servers among the adults
in the congregation,
I ask you to consider
whether you too might
be able to assist.

and training of new,
and existing, Altar
Servers.
