Course objectives:
The main objective of the Reading and Writing course for Year V at PWSZ in Konin is for
students to have an opportunity to practice a number of issues with regard to reading and
academic writing at the proficiency level. The general focus of the course is to offer practical
guidance and to assist students in their MA research and MA thesis writing through providing
a wide variety of reading and writing tasks.
Course contents/description:
The main areas of interest for the course are the following:
- Writing abstracts, introductions, and conclusion sections of academic papers/theses.
- The use of vocabulary for academic writing
- The importance of cohesion/coherence in academic writing
- Reading and analyzing texts (both academic and non-academic)
- Analysis of common students’ errors
Completion requirements:
Semester 1 (30 hrs):
1. Regular attendance/Active Participation
2. 3 written assignments
