Assembling The method of the F-747 train radio installation in double cabin locomotive version is shown on Diagram1 (No. F747M.00.00). The Diagram 2 (No. F747M.11.00) show cables connecting method to Switching Panel. At the first install Control Units [01], (vertically or horizontally), in suitable places for driver (“cabin A” and “cabin B”). The Tx/Rx Unit [10], DC/DC Converter [20] and Switching Panel [32] usually are installing together in one area. 3.1. Control Unit □ Place Control Units [01] on previously installed standard rack (frames) [02] and fix it with the knurled-head thumb screws [09]; □ In place of the Control Units [01] location (“cabin A” and “cabin B”), terminate the cable [43], [44] from Switching Panel [32] with DB25 type female connector [45] and clip [46]; □ Connect the control unit sockets [45], located in cabin A and B, to Switching Panel [32] with shielded multi wire cable [43], [44]. Diagram 2 (No. F747M.11.00) show cables [43], [44] connecting method to Switching Panel [32]; □ After checking installation and tension, connect the control unit angle-plug [08] to the socket [45] and secure with the locking fastener [47]. 3.2. Tx/Rx Unit □ Place Tx/Rx Unit [10] on previously installed standard rack (frames) [11] and fix it with the knurled-head thumb screws [09]; □ Power cables connector [23] should be connected to Tx/Rx Unit [10] socket [12] from one side, and to output of DC/DC Converter [20] described as „Output 13.6” from other side [25], [26]. □ Red cable [25] with fuse housing should be connected to positive end „+”, and black one [26] should be connected to negative end „-” of DC/DC converter [20]. □ Antenna coaxial cables [30], [31] should be connected to the Tx/Rx unit [10] connector [13]. □ Connect angle plug [49] to the Tx/Rx Unit [10] socket [14] and secure with the locking fastener [47]. 3.3. Switching Panel □ Place the Switching Panel [32] on previously installed special casing or panel cavity and fix it with the 6 screws; □ To prevent disconnecting the cable should be connected reliable according to Diagram 1 (No. F747M.00.00) and Diagram 2 (No. F747M.11.00); □ Positive (+) red cable [41] from locomotive battery [53] should be connected (soldered) to the joint [38] of the Switching Panel [32]. Negative (-) black [40] cable from locomotive battery [53] should be connected to the screw joint [39] of the power supply switch [33]. □ Connecting cables [43] and [44] should be soldered to link strip [42] and female sockets DB25 [45] installed in cabin A and B according to Diagram 2 (No. F747M.11.00). Pyrylandia Sp. z o. o. v1.2 F-747M Train Radio Installation Manual (double cabin locomotive version) page 4/9 □ Connect the power supply plug [29] to the socket [35] and secure with the nut. □ Connect the angle plug [49] to the switching panel Tx/Rx unit socket [36] and secure with the locking fastener [47]. Attention For locomotive powering tensions lower than 90VDC - the choking coil of the switching panel should be disconnected or disassembled (see Diagram 1, position 54). Before switching [34] the Control Unit [01] to second cabin A or B, switch the main power supply [33] off. 3.4. DC/DC Converter □ Place DC/DC Converter [20] on previously installed attached rack (frames) [21]; □ Connect attached power supply cables [27] [28] to the inputs of DC/DC Converter [20]. The red, positive (+) wire [27] should be connected to DC/DC Converter [20] positive (+) input. The black, negative (-) wire [28] should be connected to DC/DC Converter [20] negative (-) input. □ To prevent disconnecting the cable should be connected reliable; □ The DC/DC converter [20] ground cable [22] connect to locomotive frame; □ After connecting input cables [27], [28] check converter [20] output voltage. □ Connect the plug [29] to the Power Supply output socket [35]; Attention The type of DC/DC converter for the F-747M train radio depends on the voltage level given for converter input from vehicle power supply [53]. 3.5. Train antenna □ Antenna should be fastened to the metal body of the vehicle roof (of conducting surface) which is a plain of the "earth" for the aerial. For antenna installation is required to do a hole in the car body of the vehicle about the diameter of Φ16 mm; □ It is very important to provide the best galvanic contact between the base of the aerial [17] (with screen [31] of the coaxial wire powering the aerial) and with car body of the vehicle. It should be made very carefully. □ Place antenna [17], [18], [19] in the middle of the locomotive roof with the applicable six M8 screws; □ The place of the antenna socket [18] contacting with roof should be protected against weather conditions with silicon; □ Antenna cable should be placed naturally, without unfavourable bends. The cable shouldn’t be too long; □ In the working conditions of locomotive the best performance have crimped antenna plug. The middle pin of the plug should be soldered very precisely; □ After crimping, the plug should be protected against weather conditions with heat-shrinkable tubing or isolation. □ Antenna should be tuned after the installation for the correct frequency according to with attached manual. It should be tuned for the middle of used band; Pyrylandia Sp. z o. o. v1.2 F-747M Train Radio Installation Manual (double cabin locomotive version) page 5/9 3.6. Connecting of the Radio Stop relay □ Radio Stop signal (24VDC 100mA) is accessible on Switching Panel terminal [42]. □ Relay coil should be on 24VDC, max 100mA. □ Connect the cables [50], [51] to the soldering terminal [42]. Diagram 2 (No. F747M.11.00) show the method of connecting the radio-stop relay [52]. After installation Control Unit should be powered on, antenna checked and operator should make some test calls. Radio Stop tests should be done on Radio Stop Channel No. 000. To prevent some problems in the future operator should read operators manual very carefully. 4. Attachments 4.1.
