Over 5,000 bigger and smaller enterprises deal with manufacturing windows, doors, roller shutters and façades, and their every third product is exported, mainly to the European Union markets. The previous year’s value of first-fix joinery export from Poland exceeded EUR 1 B, which placed Poles on the 1st place in the ranking list of European exporters. The enormous leap accomplished in the last 20 years is related not only to the value but also the technical quality of Polish products. Thanks to the purchase of West European, mainly German and Italian, technologies, Polish companies managed to upgrade their factories and to implement the latest European achievements of the window and door technology. It is in Poland that the newest and most modern process lines are operating today, and Polish producers are currently the largest partners of such brands as Veka, Aluplast, Gealan, Brügmann or Schüco. A large portion of production volume is sold by Winkhaus, Roto, G-U, Maco, Pilkington, AGC, Saint-Gobain and dozens of other suppliers from the whole Europe. Polish enterprises buy components from their European partners for the purpose of manufacturing first-fix joinery products, and in exchange they supply them with thousands of windows, doors and blinds. Such a partnership is for the benefit of both parties and the effect of this cooperation is highest-quality finished construction products offered to European project owners at very convenient prices. In the age of stagnation of the construction sector in whole Europe, contractor companies in each European Union member state are very eager to take advantage of this. The export of Polish products became more dynamic seven years ago, when Poland joined the European Union. The main problem of the first years of mutual business contacts was the lack of appropriately educated personnel, insufficient knowledge of business practice and troublesome language barriers on the Polish side. However, also this area has seen a great progress in the last years in Polish companies. Poles not only adapted to the European business standards, but are still exhibiting far-reaching flexibility in meeting the expectations of European project owners. Their partners are sometimes surprised to admit the Polish product can mean a product that is better, more adjusted to the needs, more quickly delivered. The opinion about a good cooperation with Poles, about the still increasing quality of their offer, about the increasingly better post-sales service, is more and more common in Europe. European contractor and trade companies have gained a credible partner in the East, with which they are making bigger and more profitable deals. With this publication, which is now in your hands, we are going to provide you with information about the history of the Polish first-fix joinery market, its present condition and perspectives. You will also find information about manufacturers which operate on the Polish market and about their innovative offer, which they make available for you. You are warmly encouraged to become familiar with them and to establish possible cooperation. If you encounter any difficulties, our Publishing House is always ready to help. FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY ROLE MODELS + EXCELLENT WORKMANSHIP Photo: Oknoplast The beginning of the system transformations in Poland in the 1990s and the emergence of the free market economy unfortunately did not trigger rapid changes in the Polish construction sector. The number of flats delivered for use decreased, but the market of joinery replacements flourished. It was thanks to that market that the intensive development of the window sector occurred. The low barrier in entering this production segment led to overproduction in late 2000. (Circa 1,500 manufacturers operated in late 2000 in this sector – which was a record on the European scale.) Poland has been still regarded as the European “window heartland”, and the estimated number of facilities manufacturing PVC joinery is 1,200. The PVC joinery market has been evolving and continuously changing, and due to the high competitiveness it is characterised by a considerable number of bankruptcies. It is the over-competitiveness that causes low profitability of production and sales – the development strategy very often boils down to competing with price. The same over-competitiveness has also a positive impact. When they want to abandon positioning their enterprise by the price, manufacturers distinguish their offer by employing any innovations introduced by suppliers of insulating glass units, profiles or fittings. It is in Poland that highest quality windows can be bought, and their innovativeness enables manufacturers to stand out on the very competitive market. Today, the basic standard in window fit-out is joinery formed based on 5- or 6-chamber profiles, at least 70 mm wide. 3- and 4-chamber profiles dis- appeared completely from manufacturers’ offers. The age of 5-chamber profiles is gradually coming to an end. Insulating glass units underwent similar evolutions. While the standard in the past was windows fitted with glazings characterised by thermal transmittance (Uw) of 2.6 W/m2K, subsequently gradually reduced to 1.3 or 1.1, now the standard is units characterised by Uw of 1.0 W/m2K, but triple-glazing units with Uw = 0.7 W/m2K can be found increasingly more often in the offer of many manufacturers. Also suppliers of fittings are regularly introducing new solutions. Examples are silver fittings with adWindow joinery by material (2010). PVC windows – 75% Wood windows – 22 % Metal windows – 3% ditional components, such as the wrong handle position blockade, tilt multiposition, micro-ventilation, or remote controlling. One of the methods to improve window thermal insulation characteristics is concealed fittings, since Polish customers are more and more interested in windows holding energy certificates and those designed for passive houses – these are windows whose profile is over 80 mm wide, has at least 6–7 chambers, with middle sealing (i.e. the so-called third gasket), fitted with glazing units with thermal transmittance (Ug) of 0.7 W/m2K or even 0.5 W/m2K, and owing to the use of a reinforcement coupled with thermal barriers of polyurethane foam the thermal transmittance for the whole window is Uw=0.8 W/m2K. Window profiles The largest share in the Polish window profile market has been attributable to the following manufacturers: Aluplast, Veka, Brügmann, Profine, Gealan, Inoutic, Rehau, Drutex, Dobroplast, Decco, Schüco, Others. 5- and 6-chamber, 70–74 mm wide profiles prevail on the market; 90% of them are profiles with outside sealing and the flat window frame, AD (German: Anschlagdichtung). The majority of manufacturers and suppliers operating on the Polish market offer profiles used in passive construction and profiles with middle sealing, MD (German: Mitteldichtung), i.e. with an extra middle gasket which significantly improves window tightness and durability, at a higher price relative to the commercial solutions which use AD sealing. The overwhelming majority, which is 88% of the profiles offered and sold in Poland, are B class and formed based on zinc-calcium stabilisers devoid of lead and cadmium. Domestic sales and export Sales in 2010 amounted to c. PLN 3.8 B, and almost 9.5 M window units were manufactured. It is estimated that c. 73% of this figure were mounted in Poland, while the remaining 27% were exported by Polish manufacturers to the following countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania, Italy and France. Changes were slight in 2011. Germany has remained the largest recipient of Polish windows, while Hungary dropped from the fourth to the seventh place. The export markets that display the greatest dynamics in the perspective of the last three years are Italy, France and Benelux. Thanks to export sales, Polish manufacturers avoid seasonality of sales due to the milder climate in Western and Southern European countries, where the construction season is not put on hold in winter like in Poland. Largest manufacturers In 2011 the position of the three largest companies on the Polish market remained unchanged. These are: Drutex from Bytów, Dobroplast from Zambrów, Oknoplast from Cracow. Important manufacturers are: Petecki from Łódź, Stollar 2 august 2012 fu luksus w zasięgu ręki fuhr pl anzeige a4 indd 1 04 06 2012 22:52:06 Uhr FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY from Suwałki, Eko-Okna from Racibórz, M&S from Słupsk, Jezierski from Kielce, Vetrex from Tczew, Sonarol from Jedwabne, Budvar Centrum from Zduńska Wola, Eurocolor from Pyskowice. The role and significance of Alsecco from Nysa has been growing in the recent years – thanks to investments the company doubled its production capacity and considerably increased sales of PVC joinery, with real chances to become a major company on the Polish market. The market share of the largest Polish manufacturer did not exceed 10%, while the 30 largest companies accounted for circa 45% of the Polish market in total (estimated data referring to 2010). Door production In the housing construction sector in Poland, recipients are more interested in wood doors, while in retail and institutional facilities – in aluminium doors. Therefore, PVC doors account for not more than 5% of production volume in the structure of window and door joinery manufacturers. Instead, all types of doors are manufactured by the following assortment groups: external, sliding HKS (German: Hebe-Kipp-Schiebe), patio doors with a movable mullion, and balcony doors. Conclusion We have said this once: window supply has considerably exceeded demand on the Polish market. Unfortunately, this has led to the situation where one of the important elements of the market- Shares of the Polish suppliers of the Polish window PVC profiles. Others 4% Aluplast 21% Schüco 4% Decco 4% Veka 18% Dobroplast 5% Drutex 6% Brügmann 10% Rehau 7% Inoutic 7% Profine 7% Gealan 7% ing game is the price. This results not only in the decreased quality, but generally in the reduced profitability of PVC window sales, which is very dangerous. Recently many old and large manufacturers have gone bankrupt: Okna Rąbień, Okfens in Czeladź, Montostal Dąbrowa Górnicza, Petrosol from Cracow, Tras from Skawina, SuperOkno from Zabrze. The following old and significant Polish facilities reduced their activity by abandoning PVC window production: Thermoplast from Libiąż, or A-P from Żory. There are many more bankruptcies in the small enterprise sector and it is estimated that circa 80 small local enterprises disappear from the Polish window manufacturing market every year. However, they are replaced by new entities, which originate mainly from former window dealers which seek their opportunities in production. Generally Poland has plenty of measurable assets, confirmed by economic indices, in economic development. The growing export of Polish products enhances Poland’s balance of payments with EU member states and other countries. The continuous gross domestic product growth, recorded for many years now, is favourable to investments by international enterprises. In addition, the good exchange rate of PLN in relation to EUR and USD, which maintains at a permanent level, with the forecast of Poland’s entering the EUR currency zone, additionally improves the investment index for Poland. The threats, which undoubtedly exist, are in fact global in nature, and although they are not to be neglected, Poland has a negligible influence on their existence and predictability. KRZYSZTOF ŁAKOTA [email protected] BREVIS COMPANY Since 1998 our company is spreading the idea of controlled ventilation with the use of window air ventilators known as VENTAIR in Poland. Przemysłowa 8, POLAND august 2012 5 FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY Photos: Sokółka Okna i Drzwi INNOVATIVE INDUSTRY CREATED FROM SCRATCH The manufacturing of wood and window joinery has become our hallmark in the last two decades. It is one of the 15 industries being Polish export specialities – nearly 30% of production volume is exported, and the estimated value of windows exported from Poland is over EUR 950 M annually. Nearly every third window and door sold in the European Union come from Poland. It was assumed at the turn of this millennium that in 2010 the production volume of wood window and door joinery would amount to 15–15.5 M m2 in Poland. In fact, the figure was considerably higher, given that currently almost 2,500 window and door manufacturers produce circa 20 M window and door units. From historical to roof windows Market successes of window and door joinery originate to a large extent from the quality of products and the master skills. A considerable part of deliveries are wood windows and doors for renovated and upgraded facilities, where “old times” joinery is required. And so, many Polish enterprises specialise in manufacturing historical windows, for example Świebodzin Fabryka Okien Drewnianych Line in Wilków, or 6 august 2012 WM-Mazurek from Studzianka near Wolbórz or Bioserwis from Łódź, and plenty others to be enumerated. Reconstruction consisting in rebuilding joinery in its historical shape and structure requires not only precise machines and tools but also excellent professional skills. This group of wood window manufacturers skilfully combines engineering processes carried out on machining centres with manual handling of certain processes, which allows e.g. rendering decorations from old wood windows. At the same time, the manufactured windows meet all standards concerning thermal performance or sound reduction index. The majority of them are single-frame windows, of threelayer glued-laminated square-sawn timber, the external layers are not glued along the length, the external profile of sash and frame can be milled for decoration purposes. There are a lot of manufacturers in Poland that produce traditional English windows of gluedlaminated pine wood, which can be opened traditionally vertically or to the outside, or Scandinavian windows, which open to the inside in accordance with the local standards. Apart from the above-mentioned company from Wilków near Świebodzin, a less known enterprise, NorDan in Wolsztyn (Greater Poland), specialises in manufacturing such windows, and is one of the six production facilities of the parent group NorDan from Norway. Almost the whole production volume of Scandinavian windows from this facility is directed to the Scandinavian markets and to England, Ireland and Scotland. Interestingly, basically exotic glulam wood is not used for manufacturing windows at NorDan. Pine glulam from Finland, Estonia or from a Polish manufacturer is, in turn, pressure impregnated in whole, in accordance with the Swedish SP standard. Components after machining, including machined tenons, are impregnated 4–6 mm deep. Our manufacturers very quickly learnt the method of producing aluminium-wood windows, which is based on the idea of joining two independent frames – the wood and the aluminium one. They are exceptionally easy to maintain, since they do not require painting at the outside surface, while on the inside the wood gives a natural appearance and at the same time fulfils the insulation and structural function. The Western market accepted such windows a long time ago, despite their higher price. The demand for them has been still growing, so for example windows with aluminium cladding accounted for 60–70% of NorDan’s production volume recently. Today, virtually every major Polish window joinery manufacturer offers aluminium-wood windows, but also nearly everyone complains about their low sales volume on the domestic market. The loft window is just over 100 years old, and Fakro, a company that exports 70% of its production volume and today is the second largest company worldwide in terms of loft window sales with circa 15% share in the global market – only 20 years old. It is difficult to show a world country which does not acquire windows from Nowy Sącz, but it is not the only enterprise which specialises in producing those windows. Successful in Poland are also the following: Velux, Roto, Okpol and several other smaller manufacturers. Industry built from scratch In the case of wood window and door manufacturers, it is actually not that they underwent metamorphosis, since this sector was virtually created from scratch over the last 20 years. Only two of the former “Stolbud” facilities, the main window and door manufacturers until 1990, survived. The first one is located in Włoszczowa and although it invokes the name and history dating back to 1969, it does not resemble that former wood window and door mass production facility. The second one is Stolbud Warszawa, which specialises in door manufacturing, but its offer includes also PVC windows and aluminium joinery. The low quality of the “Stolbud” brand products of that time opened the wide path for plastic windows in the early 1990s. They were a wonder of technology then! They did not warp, were tight, FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY soundproof, did not require yearly repainting, closed easily. The sales of wood windows in Poland decreased year by year, so outlet markets were sought in neighbouring countries. The latter, interested in cheaper products, forced better quality of windows, which was possible to achieve only thanks to the use of glulam and the introduction of modern machinery for machining components and accessories, which revolutionised wood windows. It turned out that accessories used in well-constructed wood windows are nearly identical to those in plastic windows, and the thermal conductivity parameters of glued-laminated wood meet even the energy-efficient construction criteria. The use of high quality impregnates, priming and finishing varnish materials became a standard. Generally, the window and door design changed. “We are able, with keeping the wood 68 profile plus an aluminium trim, to assemble various triple glazing units and hence to considerably reduce the heat transfer coefficient, maintaining the material costs of wood and aluminium at the same level,” says Leszek Hohensee, the owner of Hohensee in Stare Bojanowo (Greater Poland), where after installing new machines, for example a machining centre, not only was the production increased but also expanded by aluminium-wood joinery. Everything influences quality Most manufacturers decide to use renowned products intended for wood surface protection – from impregnates to hiding materials, particularly when windows arrive in Southern European markets and it is necessary to meet the high requirements concerning wood protection against moisture absorption. Wood impregnation and priming by immersing in tubs is more and more common. And this is carried out before gluing the components, but the primer is applied after they are glued together. The surface layer, in turn, is applied by spraying, since the used water-thinnable lasures are characterised by high viscosity and only hydrodynamic spraying allows appropriate floating, which results in the even spill of lasure. The innovativeness of the industry can be proved by examples of original solutions in wood machining, varnishing, wood and finished goods drying, dust collection, moistening, or window and door assembly. Usually square-sawn timber is stored under a canopy in whole so that it has specified humidity on the moment it is transferred for machining on planing and milling machines. Also subsequent processes observe specified process parameters, for example humidity in the production hall or the specified product drying time, or appropriate quality of plywood used for door manufacturing. When using more and more frequently water-thinnable paints and varnishes, attention is drawn to each detail which affects the quality of varnish coating. At Hofman in Słubice, humidity in the hall is controlled on an ongoing basis by the socalled dataloggers, interfaced with hygrometers, which read the data concerning the current temperature and humidity. When those parameters fall to an undesirable level, a system that triggers hall sprinkling with water mist activates automatically. Or “warming up” starts in a sectioned off part of the hall where the drying process is being carried out. The drying area is deliberately sectioned off with curtains so as to keep not only perfect cleanliness but also appropriate temperature and humidity. “We conduct an audit four times a year at our company, and an inspection twice a year at construction sites in the Netherlands, where the majority of our windows are sent,” says Przemysław Wojdyło, the operations manager of the facility in Słubice. “Our components are checked by a specialised company, which reviews computer logs of multiple production and measurement devices.” Producers absorb novelties Window and door joinery producers are surely the cutting edge in the Polish wood industry in terms of technological equipment. In Pozbud’s facility in Słonawy operates the first in Poland, and one of the few in Europe, automated line for producing wood windows and doors, designed and constructed by Weinig. The machining from square-sawn timber to all finished components of a wood window, which after exiting the automated line can be directed straight to gluing, takes in this facility as much time as is needed to go from one end of the over 60-m long hall to its other end, from where the process leads to the gluing hall. This investment enabled increasing production capacities to 4,000 m2/month and upgrading the wood window production process. It was thanks to that investment that Pozbud, a company quoted on the stock exchange, could launch the production of Exterm wood window, with the characteristics conforming to the requirements of the passive construction. In the process line, a four-side planing machine, two drills situated in parallel, two tenon machines and two profile machines were installed. One machine set machines left and the other set machines right components of sashes. Only two workers are employed at the machines – one applying the material and the other receiving finished components. The company owners decided to install a similar line for the purpose of wood door production. There are plenty of examples of modern solutions. For instance at Invado – a production line of door basic pieces allows gluing and veneering even 100 pcs of door leaves with decorative veneer in a single run during a single shift. Wood back in grace Today simple and classical windows and doors, but also ones rich in decorations and of unusual shapes can be ordered at Polish wood window and door manufacturers. Historical and traditional. Burglarproof and super energy-efficient. Round or rhombus-shaped, of three-layer glued-laminated squaresawn timber and joined along the length, but with the external layer not glued along the length, or of four-layer glued-laminated square-sawn timber with rounded edges of sashes and frames or milled in a very broad colour spectrum. Therefore, wood windows are coming back in grace as a high quality product year by year. The situation is similar in the production of internal and external doors, which are characterised by not only functionality, but also aesthetic workmanship and design. JANUSZ BEKAS www.gpd24.pl august 2012 7 FORUM BRANŻOWE PROMOTIONAL ARTICLE IMPORTANT DOOR PRODUCER Since entering the market of joinery in 1992, Porta KMI Poland has been widening the scope of activity and has become a leading producer of door leaves and frames in Poland and in Central Europe. Porta is renowned for the product quality, which can be achieved with the use of advanced, automatic technology. Apart from putting emphasis on solidity and durability of products, Porta produces doors distinguished by unforgettable designs and functionality, which helps to attract new customers, thereby making the company the largest and the most dynamically developing door producer in the region. Stages of development The history of Porta KMI Poland is characterized by continuous development, both in terms of geographical expansion and introduction of new, innovative products. The company was established in 1992 in Bolszewo, in the north of Poland, and soon became a prominent door producer in the Polish and the European market. There were a few groundbreaking moments which came down in the history of the company, one of them being the opening of a modern factory in Ełk in 2000, Porta KMI System, which specializes in the production of wooden frames. In April 2001 Porta Group was joined by a new company producing joinery – Porta KMI Fornir in Suwałki. The dynamic development resulted in opening a factory manufacturing metal frames – Porta KMI Metal in Ełk. At the same time Porta decided to take a courageous step and invested in the development abroad, in Romania to be precise. In July 2003 a new company Porta KMI Romania srl was established, which was followed by the opening of a manufacturing plant in the city of Arad in 2005. Today Porta KMI Poland employs almost 2 thousand staff members in 5 manufacturing plants, which produce over 80 thousand door leaves and 65 thousand door frames on the average per month. Yet another factor which confirms the strong market position of the company is the fact that Porta KMI Poland is a member of a strong group, Baltis Investment S.A., which includes highly reputed developer companies such as Invest Komfort and SGI Baltis. Doors for everyone The wide range of Porta doors include interior doors, folding doors, sliding doors, entrance doors, exterior doors or technical doors, which may be used in residential buildings, hotels, offices, public buildings and industrial premises. This impressive offer range was successively extended in line with the dynamic development of the company. The need to introduce new, more attractive and diversified products is rooted in the company’s willingness to develop 8 august 2012 new aesthetic habits consistent with the global trends. From the very beginning Porta KMI Poland has specialized in internal doors intended for indoor use in apartments and offices. The variety of models allows each customer to find a leaf model of interest both in terms of design and price. As for the sliding or folding systems produced by Porta, they constitute a perfect solution when traditional side-hung doors cannot be installed because of limited space. All these system solutions are available in a wide range of colours and veneers and with a complete wallmounted set. When it comes to entrance doors, Porta is aware of the customers’ need to feel safe in their house. Therefore, it puts emphasis on the door solidity and produces anti-theft, fire-resistant and reinforced doors. The Porta Facts & Figures FOUNDED: 1992 STRUCTURE: member of Baltis Investment S.A. Porta KMI Poland can also provide customers with technical doors, whose parameters have been measured and confirmed by a number of tests. Technical doors include noise reduction doors (up to 42 dB), smokeproof and fire-resistant doors (up to 60 minutes) or acidproof doors. All of them are appreciated by the project owners dealing with the construction of high standard hotels and office buildings. Apart from door leaves, Porta offers a door frame for each door model, which is technically and aesthetically compatible with the door. One can find modern shapes available with various finishes: natural, synthetic veneers or metal. Success factors What lies behind the success story of Porta KMI Poland? There are many factors which help the company to attract customers and win their trust. Apart from a wide choice of doors, their functionality and aesthetic values, it is the product quality which has always been the company’s priority. It was confirmed by the ISO 9001 quality certificate granted in 1998. Porta has always been striving to obtain all necessary certificates and technical approvals issued by the accredited research institute to confirm the functional properties of the products used in the building industry. The high quality of products is the result of the most advanced and automated production processes. The sources of Porta success can be also found in the owners’ belief that investments in quality bear fruit. For example, in the Romanian plant there are cutting-edge process lines from the renowned world companies, thanks to which Porta KMI Romania became the most modern door production plant in that part of Europe and one of the biggest employers in the special economic zone in the Arad city. Now it has a chance to become a leading producer of doors in the Balkan Region. Apart from purchasing the best equipment for door leaf and frame production, Porta cooperates with prominent world suppliers of raw materials and door accessories to achieve the highest standards of its products. It is also worth mentioning that Porta cares about environmental protection, thereby using only environment-friendly raw materials and reducing emissions of noxious substances. Moreover, the incineration plant for the production waste fully covers the heating energy demands of the plant. The success of Porta wouldn’t have been possible without the people working in the company, including skilled carpenters, mechanicians, production engineers, designers and managerial staff. Rewards Today Porta is the company which won acclaim of both customers and independent institutions, which noticed its efforts and rewarded it with numerous distinctions and awards. BEST S OLUTIO FOR H OME & BUSIN N ESS THE HIGHEST QUALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY OF OUR DOOR SOLUTIONS IS CONFIRMED BY NUMEROUS PRESTIGEOUS PROJECTS IN POLAND AND EUROPE FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY ALUMINIUM HAS A GOOD TIME Photo: Aluprof photovoltaics, heat pumps). This is correlated with the development of traditional aluminium-glass space dividing elements; the standard is products from HI (High Insulation) and SI (Super Insulation) groups: FW50+HI façade, windows and doors from AWS75SI, AWS90SI+ group. Also Wicona, the second German manufacturer of aluminium systems present on the Polish market, is promoting similar solutions. Although it is considerably less popular than Schüco, its products are characterised by equally high quality and functional properties as well – it is the case of intelligent multi-purpose façades Wictec TEmotion, mullion/transom façades with high thermal performance Wictec 50HI, or the new window line EVO (Wicline 77HI). Similar product lines can be noticed in another Western supplier. Reynaers supplemented its offer by a new window-door system, CS104. So far the main premium products have been CW50HI façades and CS86HI windows. In addition, a tendency of alluding to old, it would seem, ideas, such as dual windows, can be noticed. The modern solutions that allow achieving favourable thermal parameters are also outright aesthetic and meet the strictest requirements of architects. It should be also mentioned here about products of such companies as Schüco (AWS105CC.HI), Wicona (Wicline 125, TOP-Window), or Reynaers (CS77VF). An undeniable advantage of such solutions is also good sound protection and the possibility to place window blinds between the sashes. It should be reminded that the prices of aluminium raw materials maintained at a high level in 2011. In the first two quarters, the average aluminium price on London’s commodity market exceeded USD 2,400 per ton. Only in December did the price fall below USD 2,000 per ton. It is also worth emphasising that the aluminium sector is vulnerable to currency exchange rate fluctuations. In this case the previous year could be favourable for Polish companies, which offered products at prices denominated in PLN and thus could well compete with Western European companies. This is visible in the structure of the Polish market, where a Polish supplier, Aluprof, is the leader, and for the last several years the remaining places have been distributed among Ponzio (estimated c. 15% market share), Yawal (estimated 12–14%) and Aliplast (estimated above 10%). Another leading player from the top five, Belgium-based Reynaers, did not count the last year as a successful one. However, increased turnover was recorded by Schüco, a German manufacturer, which relies mainly on sales for facilities (commercial market). Another Polish joint-stock company, Yawal, also sees increased sales. The turnover for 2011 was considerably higher in relation to 2010, reaching PLN 173 M. The growth exceeds 40%. Is it a coincidence? 10 august 2012 Photo: Reynaers It is often talked and written about a crisis in the construction industry. So it is worth asking a question whether the crisis afflicted also the suppliers of aluminium structures. The results of the largest companies operating in the construction aluminium systems sector seem to contradict the above statement. The biggest supplier on the Polish market, Aluprof, recorded increased sales by as much as 19% for the previous year and increased its market share to c. 40%. So perhaps the Polish construction market is really not in such a bad condition? It could seem that such results of the companies were significantly influenced by the organisation of the European Football Championship by Poland. This is because the public sector of the market accounted for the majority of orders placed at enterprises specialised in supplying aluminium architectural systems. It is clear, however, that much has been happening in the aluminium sector, not only in connection with the championship. Its development is also positively affected by the stricter requirements for the energy-efficiency of space dividing elements, as well as by the development itself of modern technologies for construction. Project owners increasingly more often commission the Green Building certification procedure for the newly constructed built features. The German supplier of aluminium systems for construction, Schüco, has been promoting its products under the banner of Green Technology – currently Energy3 – for several years now. With this respect the enterprise offers complete solutions, from energy-efficient shells for buildings, to thermal energy recovery and use systems (solar collectors, Modern aluminium structures are not only thermal protection; they also mean the strive for achieving a maximally big glazing area. Although it seems difficult to reconcile that, the development of modern technologies is very rapid also in this case – triple glazing with very high parameters is a standard today. No-one is surprised by achieving Ug at the 0.5W/m2K level, at the same time meeting the strict requirements as to the selection of light energy, sound parameters and anti-burglary parameters. Although the technological capacities of aluminium structures are still a limitation to a great extent, their manufacturers are trying to live up to those challenges. A façade with glass weighing 500 kg? An openable window weighing 200 kg? No problem – these are customised solutions but absolutely possible! The limitations can be overcome in this case by introducing vacuum insulated glass to serial production and sales – the glazing weight will no longer play the decisive role in limiting the load-bearing capacity of structural components. This will allow implementing most daring ideas of designers and architects. What is the situation of domestic manufacturers and the remaining competition compared with the Western companies described above? The development of “domestic” systems is astonishing. Aluprof introduced modern componentbased façades to standard sales. In addition, that company puts a strong emphasis on the thermal parameters of its solutions. During the exhibition in Munich last year it promoted the MB-86ST/SI/ Aero window system and MB-TT50 façades, which aroused a big interest. The enterprise is also developing new façade systems, MB-SR50N, which give the opportunity to use triple glazing, including also semi-structural façades, MB-SR50N Efekt. Yawal is also trying to keep up with the competition – which is proved by new windows of TM77HI series and the FA50N mullion/transom façade characterised by high thermal protection. The remaining main market players are also developing their products. Ponzio has expanded its offer of window-door systems by modifying the existing PE78 system by new thermal solutions – PE78HI. A similar situation refers to façades – the PF152 system is complemented with a system with enhanced thermal performance, PF152HI. A similarly broad, if not richer, offer is boasted by Aliplast – Superial window-door systems have been additionally complemented with new solutions – the Star system, which with its incorporation depth can compete with CS104 system by Reynaers or AWS90SI+ by Schüco, or mullion/ transom walls of MC Passive series. The same tendency can be observed even in the “newcomer” on our market – Blyweert Aluminium: basic systems are complemented with technological novelties. So, the company’s offer includes modern façades from Hera line and innovative Triton HI window systems based on the labyrinth insulation technology (spidertechnology). It should be added that Blyweert Aluminium patented this system, and its production will be launched thanks to a subsidy from the European Union. What determines the main tendencies in the commercial construction is also applicable in the single-family construction. Nowadays the individual customer is well-educated in terms of technology and very demanding. A tendency of superseding the so far popular materials serving for glass incorporation – i.e. PVC and wood – by aluminium is observable. Because it is light, durable and aesthetic, it is increasingly more often used in single-family houses, also in the so-called passive houses. Aluminium, apart from the already mentioned properties, is characterised by excellent resistance to weather conditions and corrosion, and provides fire safety. It is no longer associated with a “cold” material and can be applied in the aforementioned solutions: aluminium windows are energy-efficient and ensure maintaining appropriate heat transfer coefficients. Apart from traditional incorporation, aluminium is more often used in sliding and lift-sliding doors. The following are most popular products on the Polish market: ASS70HI by Schüco, CP155/155-LS by Reynaers, or the novelty by Aluprof – MB-77HS. Modern fittings allow producing very large doors, which often weigh more than 300 kg. The concept of “leaving the living room for the garden” is therefore becoming very realistic, because the border where the house ends and the garden begins is no longer clear. The situation on the so-called primary market is entirely different – in the multi-family and retail construction, most sales is accounted for by structures that are relatively poor in terms of thermal solutions, albeit meeting all requirements of the applicable standards. These are, above all, systems with incorporation depth of 60–65 mm, found in the offer of all important system suppliers, as well as internal enclosures without thermal barriers. Fire divisions are also popular. So far it has been a segment dominated by steel systems (Jansen). The dynamic development of the fire protection aluminium product sector means a greater competition, which entails reduced prices for finished products. Until now, the main field of fire protection research has remained entrance lobby and door structures as well as mullion/transom façades in EI15/30/45/60 class. Today a tendency is observable of expanding the fire classification from 60 min (on the German market – above 90 min) – to 120 min. Such products are currently offered by Sweden-based Sapa, a company long specialised in fire protection solutions (Thermo 92 EI 120 system), and Jansen (Economy E 120 system). Also a Polish manufacturer, Aluprof, has applied for fire classification. Moreover, a group of products for application on glass roofs in the following fire classes is developing dynamically: RE30/REI30 (e.g. Jansen VISS Fire TVS, Aluprof MB-SR50/50N EI, Yawal FA50 Dach REI30). As can be seen, Polish companies are trying to keep up with the Western competition also in this field. No wonder that they are more and more confident when entering with their products such areas that used to be closed for them, and are successfully exporting their know-how. This can be noticed, for example, by becoming familiar with the official sales report for 2011 of the biggest Polish company – Aluprof, belonging to Grupa Kapitałowa Kęty: the export value in the previous year increased by 25% in relation to 2010. The main areas of its export activity are Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania. Yawal is interested in a similar market. The export sales of that company accounted for c. 17% of the whole sales in the previous year. The examples described above reveal that the industry of construction aluminium structures has been gradually developing. System suppliers are marketing new products which meet the expectations of increasingly more demanding recipients, both commercial and individual ones. What is more, they are offering them at good prices. This is an excellent starting point for developing export. MARIUSZ ĆWILICH [email protected] august 2012 11 FORUM BRANŻOWE PROMOTIONAL ARTICLE ALUPROF FOR MOST DEMANDING PROJECTS! Owing to the use of spectacular aluminium components, glass buildings arouse awe and recognition. The robust structure of the profiles and the glittering glass provide a unique effect, which is compounded particularly when the building attracts attention also with original architecture. The portfolio of Aluprof, a company belonging to Grupa Kapitałowa Kęty SA, as one of the leading European distributors of aluminium systems, includes projects that attract pedestrians’ sight with unusual appearance. façade products was used for the construction of dozens of buildings in Poland and worldwide. Such buildings include: Transatlantyk (Gdynia), Cubic Center (Bucharest), TV Inter (Kiev), Northwood Court Block J (Dublin), New Point Offices (Wrocław), Akwilon (Sankt Petersburg), Queen’s University (Belfast), Centrum Haffnera – Spa House (Sopot), Magnus shopping centre (L’viv), Filharmonia Gorzowska (Gorzów Wielkopolski), ASSECO (Rzeszów), MONNARI (Łódź), etc. Contemporary architecture poses a great challenge for the contractors. Complex structures, original shapes or very large surfaces often require developing an individual solution designed for a particular facility. For the needs of modern built features, Aluprof has prepared special systems, materials and designs, thanks to which buildings have a magnificent appearance. Completed projects Aluminium systems by Aluprof are used in many commercial projects. This happens thanks to the confidence gained at many project owners, architects and general contractors. Because the performance of certain undertakings involves thinking outside the box, the company often introduces systems of individual solutions. “The creation of certain facilities involves meeting unusual requirements as to the appearance, size or functionality of façade systems. Therefore, we decided to develop individual structure designs, which are prepared in cooperation with the designers of the given building. Thanks to that, what used to be unachievable for architects is now realistic”, explains Tomasz Grela – Aluprof’s Chairman of the Board. Thanks to such an open policy of the enterprise, Aluprof systems were applied in such undertakings as: Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Hilton hotels in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Łódź and Kiev, Prosta Tower in Warsaw, Euro 2012 stadiums in Gdańsk, Warsaw and Wrocław, the Olympic Village in London, or the construction of the highest building in Poland – Sky Tower in Wrocław. “It is also worth mentioning several facilities that are under construction now, e.g.: Pomeranian Scientific & Technology Park in Gdynia, Ambasador office building in Warsaw and CENT II in Warsaw”, adds Tomasz Grela. Given the growing technical requirements as to the thermal conditions and water- and wind-resistance, let us look at the new solutions offered by Aluprof: The new version of the façade from MB-SR50N family, marked with “EFEKT” symbol, proves excellently as the structure of light curtain (hung and infill) walls and of roofs and skylights. It allows constructing a façade with a uniform, smooth glass external surface. This effect was achieved with use of special fastening of glass panes to mullions and transoms. The surface of the façade constructed with this technology is divided into a structure of vertical and horizontal 2-cm wide lines. Gaps between the glass fields of the façade are filled with a special silicone binder, which ensures tightness of the structure and enhances its thermal insulation properties. The fastening system of the filling differs depending on the glass weight, and it is adjusted to the technical requirements of the given project. MB-SR50N EFEKT has recommendations from the three world leading suppliers of structural & weatherproofing silicones: Dow Corning, Sica and Tremco-Ilbruck, which confirms the strength and tightness of the structure. The employed silicones are available in the broad colour offer. The real architectural innovation remains, however, the possibility to use glazing units with laminated glass panes. This allows designing and constructing façades of an unprecedented aesthetic value. MB-SR50N EFEKT additionally enables using single- or double-chamber glass, as well as non-transparent panels based on insulated glass. MB-SR50N EFEKT system parameters air permeability: class AE 1200 Pa, EN 12152 The MB-SR50N semi-structural façade and its EFEKT version – towards energy-efficiency and new aesthetic possibilities This innovative façade was developed based on the proven MB-SR50N mullion and transom wall system. The technology based on this family of 12 august 2012 water-resistance: class RE 1500 Pa, EN 12154 wind load resistance: 2.4 kN/m2, EN 13116 impact resistance: class I5/E5, EN 1409 MB-TT50 – a successful combination of current structural trends with insulating properties The MB-TT50 façade is the newest technologically advanced aluminium system with the mullion and transom structure. It allows constructing curtain walls or infill walls, roofs and spatial structures. Thanks to the use of a set of mutually adjusted insulators, the façade ensures a high level of building protection against thermal energy loss, and their special shape at the same time facilitates façade pre-casting. In addition, the set of gaskets and the 3-level cascading water drainage and air evacuation system ensure the proper operation of the façade even in worst weather conditions. Various angle joints provide freedom in designing spatial structures, thanks to which the MB-TT50 system provides great possibilities to shape the incorporation. The wide range of glazing and the high load-bearing capacity of the mullion-transom joint (2.5 KN) enable using multiple types of glass panes and assembling large and heavy units. We also provide a wide choice of openable components in the façade: various types of windows and doors, including roof light windows, windows integrated with the façade, as well as awning windows and windows openable in parallel. ITT type tests as per EN-13830, conducted in the Building Research Institute, revealed that it is the best façade system with the mullion and transom structure that is currently in production. MB-TT50 is intended also as the base for future fire protection and anti-burglary solutions. The MB-TT50 façade underwent tests in accordance with the CWCT specification, full B sequence, excluding 2 dynamic tests and an impact test. The façade passed the tests with the excellent grade, confirming in the first test that its tightness parameters at 1200 Pa exceed the standards (600 Pa is required). Two structural options were tested: mullion-transom and transom-transom options. Currently the MB-TT50 system is the best system in its class in terms of tightness and thermal parameters available on the British market. The system was already used for the construction of the Estonian University of Technology in Estonia. MB-TT50 system parameters air permeability: class AE 1350 Pa, EN 12152 water-resistance: class RE 1800Pa, EN 12154 wind load resistance: 2.7 kN/m2, EN 13116 impact resistance: class I5/E5, EN 14019 fire resistance: possible to construct in EI 30 and EI 60 version thermal performance (Uf): from 0.6 W/m2K Apart from the enumerated systems, Aluprof also offers many other solutions, including in particular specialised fire protection and anti-burglary systems. These are still present on the Polish market today, and several of them have also launched production here (Hörmann, Torsystem Butzbach, Novoferm). The most popular structure in Poland has so far been the tilt-up door, as the cheapest, yet the least reliable one. Currently the demand is growing for roll-up and sectional doors, both for the housing construction and for the industry. It is estimated that the annual production of traffic doors in Poland exceeds 200 thousand pieces. Turnover of the largest manufacturers of traffic doors and protection in Poland. Wiśniowski Hörmann Aluprof Portos Markisol Ispol Franc Gardiner In line with the popularisation of the new traffic door structures, also numerous Polish companies launched their production. The following companies have considerably increased their market shares in the last decade: Wiśniowski from Wielogłowy, Krispol from Września, or Dako from Nowy Sącz. The sales of their products has been dynamically growing year by year, and an increasingly greater share is accounted for by the export sales, above all to the European Union member states. Apart from tycoons, several hundred traffic door production plants are also operating in Poland, manufacturing mostly tilt-up doors, which are able to sell their not very expensive products in the cheap individual construction sector and for standalone structures of metal garages. Also bigger roller shutter production plants are still supplying a lot of roll-up structure traffic doors and grilles. 14 august 2012 Anwis Krispol Selt Gardinia Roller shutters The Polish market of window covering differs from the markets in Southern and Western Europe, mainly for climate reasons. Shutters or roller shutters are not so widespread in Poland, where they rather act as additional protection against burglary or cold. Therefore, a large portion of the produced roller shutters, particularly metal ones, are applied as divisions and protection inside units, e.g. in warehouses and shopping centres. In the field of solar control, exterior roller shutters and venetian blinds play an auxiliary role in Poland for the increasingly more popular air-conditioning systems. For this reason a large group of manufacturers of PVC windows have already launched roller shutter production departments or have established cooperation with specialised plants, such as Opole-based Aluprof (aluminium) or Kalisz-based Portos (PVC). More and more such products feature also electrical drives and automated control systems. This is a segment which is currently at the stage of dynamic development in Poland. Blinds Traditionally, curtains and net curtains have been hanging in Polish windows, so other window coverings have been less popular so far. However, blinds and material roller blinds as well as wood or aluminium slat louvers are already common for the purposes of solar control. The production of blinds in Poland has clearly begun to develop. Four to five important suppliers of blinds systems make provisions for several thousand smaller and bigger workshops, which are also involved in assembling those products. Several dozen companies in the entire country have launched industrial production, basing their sales on distributor chains. The largest are: Włocławek-based Anwis, Vertex from Silesia and Sierant from Piotrków, Mirola from Orzesze, MOL from Poznań, Sunżal from Katowice or Dragon from Gdańsk. Considerable export sales is recorded by such enterprises as Franc Gardiner from Świdnica or Ispol from Kielce. However, this is an extremely atomised segment, dominated by small workshops, and hence it is more difficult to reconnoitre it and to plan marketing actions. Also for this reason the biggest companies undertake intensive export activities by establishing trade cooperation with partners abroad. And what is more important: they are perfectly prepared for such cooperation in terms of quality, logistics and organisation. ALURON DOMEL Gemini Quadrat FB is a system characterised by the modern rectangular shape of aluminium profiles in the flushed out version. It allows using glazing units that are wider than standard. Aluminium cladding is available both in the welded version and in the mechanically joined version. The system has also a version with a thermal insulator, which allows achieving better thermal insulation parameters and reduces the cooling air circulation. Energetic – a window constructed based on the 6-chamber S 9000 system by Gealan; the incorporation depth is 83 mm. The thermal insulation coefficient of the frame ranges at 0.92 W/m2K. The gasket deployment system in three planes contributes to enhanced thermal insulation of the entire window. Deeper embedding of the glass pane thanks to the 26 mm high glass stop and a higher rebate eliminates the creation of thermal bridges. Anti-burglary fittings are in the standard offer. BRÜGMANN DRUTEX The BluEvolution 82 window is constructed based on 6-chamber 82 mm wide PVC profiles, with 5-point seal (MD version) and a double-glazing unit as standard. The profile can be veneered with colour or woodgrain foil; it can also be white. The presented window can achieve thermal performance of 0.74 W/m2K (for dimensions 1230 x 1480). The Iglo window can achieve heat transfer coefficient of 0.89 W/m2K. GL System profiles, on which it is based, have special steel reinforcements in sashes and in the frame, which enhances the stability of the whole. As a standard, the windows have fittings by Maco with the mushroom striker plate and the wrong handle position blockade. The presented window is available in Renolit veneers, in ordered shapes, with or without muntin bars, and with the glazing unit that is in line with the needs. FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY FAKRO FPP – V preselect dual action window is provided with two separated sash opening functions: tilt and pivot ones. The tilt function allows leaving the sash in any position within the range from 0° to 35°, which allows free access to the opened window. The pivot function allows rotating the sash by 180° and serves above all for washing the external part of the glazing. The fitting system used in the window ensures the possibility to make only one method of opening and the full stability of the sash, both in the tilt and in the pivot function. The opening method is possible thanks to the preselect switch placed in the side part of the frame. The window is fitted with the automatic V40P ventilator. OKPOL GEALAN S7000IQplus is a combination of PVC profiles (5050/5051) achieving Uf = 0.78 W/m2K, and its structural solution is patent-protected. The product combines company’s four innovative technologies: Acrylcolor – the external profile walls are co-extruded with a coloured coating of acrylic glass, which is resistant to scratches, damage, ageing, fading, warming up, soiling. STV – during production, the static-thermal tape is placed on the sash rebate, and it permanently joins the glass pane with the sash. IKD – the main chamber of profiles is tightly filled with structural thermal foam during production. IQ Plus – profiles have A class and are 83 mm wide, which allows glazing up to 54 mm. OKNOPLAST The Winergetic Premium window is characterised by the heat transfer coefficient ranging at 0.78 W/m²K. The glazing is composed of a double-chamber glazing unit with 3 mm thick glass panes, which allows making large glazings with the use of tempered glass. It is possible to employ thermal reinforcement, i.e. a combination of a steel profile with a resin insert, which minimises the emergence of thermal bridges. The presented window is constructed based on the 7-chamber frame profile with the incorporation width of 82 mm, and the half-flushed out sash profile 93 mm wide. Six gaskets, including an extra one in the glazing groove, improves the product energy-efficiency. Based on the reports of the Building Research Institute, in PE 68+ version, i.e. with closing of the cavity – Uf ranges from 1.5 W/m2K, PE 68HI in version – with closing the glazing chamber and the insulation insert in the profile chamber – Uf ranges from 1.4 W/m2K. In the warmest version: PE 68HI+, Uf coefficient reaches values ranging from 1.3 W/m2K. Thanks to the possibility to choose different variants of additional thermal insulation, the system allows flexible adjustment to the thermal performance requirements. SCHÜCO Schüco ThermoPlus is a seven-chamber window system of PVC-U, in which the heat transfer coefficient for the frame amounts to 0.78–0.90 W/m2K. Such a Uf value makes the system perfect for energy-efficient and passive construction. This solution is based on the patented technology of permanent joining of a plastic (PVC-U) with continuous, flat aluminium reinforcements that reflect thermal radiation. The cavity was divided into two thermal insulation zones, while the glazing was embedded deep in the profile. The system with an increased incorporation depth (up to 82 mm) allows using glazing units up to 52 mm thick. Together with the passive sliding system Schüco ThermoSlide it allows comprehensive designing of energy-efficient building shells. STOLBUD WŁOSZCZOWA The Velux GGL wood pivot window with an energy-efficient laminated glass pane and rain sound dampening unit reduces rain noise by 7 dB, which can be perceived as noise of rain drops reduced by a half. This effect was achieved thanks to the optimisation of the structure, especially of the glass pane, and to the new technology of covering the flashings with sound-dampening foil. The presented window is particularly fit for assembly in children rooms and attic bedrooms. It ensures full safety of residents in case it is broken, because the inside glass panes are glued with use of foil. The heat transfer coefficient is 1.3 W/m2K. UNITECH The Capital wood window is company’s own patented structure and belongs to the energyefficient window class. The window frame and the sash frame are made of square-sawn pine, meranti or oak timber. The total thickness of the window frame and window sash is 92 mm. The sash features two thermoplastic gaskets. The glazing is composed of triple glazing units with heat transfer coefficient of Ug=0.5 W/m2K and sound reduction index of Rw=35 dB. The thermal performance coefficient for the entire window: from 0.6 W/m2K. The Capital window was awarded by the Building Research Institute in Warsaw with two certificates confirming its technical and utility parameters. These are: certificate for the Thermal Quality Mark CQ-ITB and EKO-ITB confirming that the windows are environmentally friendly products and do not exert a negative impact on the natural environment. The presented window belongs to E 3000 class in terms of rigidity and stability of the structure. 18 august 2012 VELUX The HFL technology (German: Holz Fenster Look) is used for producing windows with enhanced thermal resistance, distinguished by the joining of profiles at the angle of 90 degrees. Owing to that the window’s inside appearance resembles a classic wood window. During the milling process, open external chambers are achieved, which act as ventilation openings. This ensures the reduction of the temperature of the material in which the window is formed, which is important on hot days, since it guarantees better ventilation of the profile. Thanks to the presented technology, permanent deformations of window frames which can occur on façades exposed to the sunlight can be entirely eliminated. The area of the ventilation openings is larger by 35% than the total area of openings made in standard PVC windows. FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY YAWAL VETREX SOKÓŁKA OKNA I DRZWI FA 50N SW system serves for making parallel draw-out windows of large sash sizes: 2 m wide, 3 m high, up to 200 kg of weight. The profile shape enables mounting fittings and scissorlike mechanisms in accordance with European standards. The V90+ window is characterised by Uw=0.76 W/m²K (1230 x 1450 mm; Ug=0.5) The energy-efficiency is ensured by such components as: an insulating wedge in the 6-chamber profile of the frame in A class, the triple system of gaskets with the middle gasket, an under-sill trim with a gasket and a thermally insulating steel spacer between glass panes. Additional insulation and aesthetic value are provided by the fitting with the covered hinge side. This allows reducing energy losses in the facility by c. 10%. The fitting and the reinforcement of 1.5 mm thick zinc-plated steel in the frame, and 1.8 mm thick folded six times in the sash, hold the sash weight of up to 130 kg. 7-year warranty is furnished for the window. Thermo HS corner balcony door provides the opportunity to employ very large glazings. In contrast with two balconies placed next to each other, the glass surface in corners is not disturbed with a mullion or the vertical component of the frame. The balcony structure allows achieving the heat transfer coefficient for the whole door ranging at Uw=0.9 W/m2K. The floor threshold is 20 mm high, thereby giving the possibility to adjust the house for the needs of disabled people. The frame of the presented door is 188 mm thick, while the leaf – 80 mm thick, and the maximum door dimension may amount to: 6 m (width) x 6 m (width) x 2.8 m (height). To sum up, two external walls of a square living room with area of 36 m2 can be fully glazed. POL-SKONE VOX The Sempre Verse is a rebated door, constructed of glulam timber rails, cladded with two smooth HDF panels, covered by a veneered surface or Lamistone or Silkstone surface. Depending on the model, the choice includes Decormat tempered glass, white or brown, satinised graphite, white and mat brown. Leaves are available in 10 patterns and 28 colours; five models feature a large glazing surface. Vox doors with a cat entrance and a strip for toiletries are offered in decorative veneer available in four colours: coimbra, golden oak, ebony, melunga. The leaves are divided into 1 to 5 parts. The filling is made of chipboard. The leaf has the frame and panel structure – the frame is made of MDF panels. The bottom part of the leaf features a double-swing flap, through which a cat can move. This entrance is almost invisible, so the door remains aesthetic and durable. The cat entrance is covered by a warranty – it is forfeited when you cut out an opening in the door on your own. Each leaf can be fitted with an aluminium strip with hangers. It can be mounted in the top part of the door in selected models, which allows hanging e.g. a long bathrobe or towels. The toiletries strip supports the maximum load of 5 kg. M&S PVC windows manufactured in HFL technology (German: Holz Fenster Look), which is based on joining profiles in the manner characteristic for wood joinery, have entered serial production. This means that the corners of the window frame and sash at the external side, i.e. at the building façade side, do not have the fusion welds at the 45° angle, which are characteristic for the PVC technology, but are joined straight: vertically in the sash, and horizontally in the frame. The windows are available in woodgrain veneers, which imitate such tree species with colour and texture as: oak, mahogany, walnut or meranti. Thanks to the new technology of joining corners the profile is better ventilated, which increases its resistance to high temperatures. DROMA The Zipscreen window awning provides 80-90% protection against sunlight and forms a wind barrier. Because the zipper, the bottom trim and the canvas are inserted into a guide, no side gap is created through which light could penetrate. With lowered canvas, the awning can also serve as a mosquito net. The awning is controlled with use of a motor or a crank. The canvas and the mechanics compose a single whole. The maximum area of Zipscreen is 15 m². The wide choice of colours of fibreglass fabrics, resistant to adverse weather conditions, enhances the aesthetics of the product. august 2012 19 FORUM BRANŻOWE WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY INVADO Bianco door collection is richer by a new model – Fiori 3 with Nero glazing. METALPLAST-KALISZ WAPIENICA New saws of Aluex series are certified machining tools intended for industrial cutting of sections of aluminium alloys and PVC, used in window and door joinery and on production lines of profile manufacturers. The continuous work on the structure of saws resulted in new solutions: new shapes of teeth, expansion slots and sound-dampening slots. The saw dynamic stability at work is translated into a smaller machining resistance, thereby a smaller load of the machine components and a reduction of energy consumption. In manufacturing the new saw series, the procedure of checking the symmetry and flatness of disks was carried out with use of a laser device, in which the measurement results are displayed in the form of the 3D model of saw’s disk, and they are analysed and corrected on an ongoing basis. 22 august 2012 The company is able to construct profiles of various shapes thanks to advanced bending technologies. The manufacturer provides services of bending and constructing PVC structures from own material (Brügmann AD), or from supplied material. The machining does not affect the thermal performance parameters. Metalplast-Kalisz offers constructing full unusual structures, including inserting mullions in arched windows, glazing, and installing fittings. Each product is subject to comprehensive inspection.
