Confirmation Parent Meeting:
On Monday, January 28, 2008 there
will be a meeting for all parents of
students that will receive the sacrament of Confirmation in 2008. The
meeting will begin at 6:30pm and it will be held in Makuch
Hall.
Parents of St. Mary’s School students, as well as parents of
CCD students are to attend the Confirmation meeting. All of
the information you will need to prepare your children for the
reception of the sacrament of Confirmation will be distributed at these meetings.
OUR SCHOOL IS IN NEED OF YOUR HELP! Please consider ordering items from Market Day or participating in the Home Run Inn
fundraiser for the benefit of our school children.
Market Day order forms are available at all entrances of the church.
The deadline for placing orders is Thursday, January 31st. Order forms can be dropped in the collection baskets or they can be brought to the school
office during school hours Internet orders are due
no later than noon on Monday, February 4th. Orders will be available for pick-up on Thursday, February 7th in the school hall between 2pm and 3pm.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL—IN-PEW
PLEDGE SUNDAY
This weekend all of our parishioners
are asked to make an in-pew pledge to
the Archdiocesan Annual Catholic Appeal-2008.
Sometimes it is difficult to envision how
one pledge can help an organization the
size of our Archdiocese, how it can make a real difference. But
each pledge does make a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministry and services.
A significant gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal touches the lives
of many others in a very positive way. The Annual Catholic Appeal provides a significant portion of the budget of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Most dioceses in the country conduct an appeal,
once a year, to help with the costs of providing services and programs to their parishes and people. The Archdiocese of Chicago
is no exception.
The Annual Catholic Appeal campaign is much different than a
one time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you
can make a gift, payable over five months.
All proceeds collected at St. Mary of Czestochowa will be used
to pay down our debt owed to the Archdiocesan Bank. Most importantly the Archdiocese will match all funds raised, up to the
amount of the parish goal, and apply them to the parish debt.
Your generosity in responding to the in-pew pledge today will
greatly help our parish to reduce its debt to the Archdiocesan
Bank. May God reward your generosity!
St. Blase, Bishop and Martyr—Feast Day, February 3rd
St. Blase was a bishop in Armenia in the early
fourth century. Not much is known about him, but
there are many legends and stories that tell us what
the times were like. It was a time of persecution for
the Catholic Church. The Roman empire was trying
to get rid of the Christians. Many faithful were martyred because they would not give up their love and
faith in Jesus Christ.
Saint Blase received a message from God to go
into the hills to escape the persecution. The Roman
governor sent men to find him. While searching for
St. Blase, the hunters discovered a cave that was full
of sick wild animals. There was St. Blase in the middle, healing the animals! They captured him and took him back to the governor. On the
way, St. Blase rescued a poor woman’s pig from a wolf. Other stories
say that he cured a boy who had a fish bone stuck in his throat and was
choking to death. It is because of this miraculous healing that he is considered to be the patron of throat ailments. After suffering various forms
of torture, St. Blase was beheaded. Seven women were martyred at the
Same time.
The blessing of throats will take place after the 5pm Mass on, Feb. 2nd
and after all Sunday Masses on Feb. 3rd in our church.
Through the intercession of St. Blase, bishop and martyr, may God
deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness; In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

During his second missionary journey,
Paul spent close to two years in Corinth
working to establish a Christian community there. Many people there embraced
his message of salvation and became believers. The Corinthian
Christians were richly blessed by God, especially in the area of
spiritual gifts. Yet despite these blessings, the fledgling church
was troubled by quarrels and internal rivalries.
As different factions aligned themselves with various leaders,
the Corinthians were in danger of losing the unity that is essential to any church. Concerned, Paul appealed to them to end
their bickering. Lest they lose sight of Jesus himself, Paul also
reminded them that the faith they had embraced—as well as all
the blessings they had received—rested on the power of Jesus’
cross. It didn‘t depend on the special talents of Christian leaders
like himself or Apollos or Cephas.
Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus and his cross is a necessary
safeguard for us, too. In a world that idolizes celebrities and
exalts popular personalities, Christians stand as people rooted
in God first and people second. It’s through the cross that we
are saved, not through a leader’s charismatic personality. It’s
through the cross that the heavens are opened, not through our
hard work or sincerity.
Today, at Mass, unite yourself with the words of the Eucharistic Prayer, especially the prayer for the church: “Watch over it,
Lord, and guide it; grant it peace and unity throughout the
world.” Let the Spirit show you what a glorious thing it is to be
joined to so many brothers and sisters by Jesus himself. As you
pray, may Christ increase your love for every member of his
church!

MacDonald, CSsR. Fr. MacDonald will celebrate the 5:00 P.
M. Mass and preach the homily
on Saturday, February 9, and
there will also be the anointing
of the sick at this time.
On Sunday, February 10 he will
celebrate and preach at the 7:30
A. M and 9:00 A. M. Masses. On Monday through
Thursday Fr. Kevin will celebrate the 8:00 A. M.
Mass with a short homily, and the Mission celebration will continue each evening at 7:00 P. M.

Al enterarse Jesús de que habían arrestado a Juan, se
retiró a Galilea. Dejando Nazaret, se estableció en
Cafarnaún, junto al lago, en el territorio de Zabulón y
Neftalí. Así se cumplió lo que había dicho el profeta
Isaías: “País de Zabulón y país de Neftalí, camino
del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, Galilea de los gentiles. El pueblo que habitaba en tinieblas vio una luz
grande; a los que habitaban en tierra y sombras de
muerte, una luz les brilló.” Entonces comenzó Jesús
a predicar diciendo: Convertíos, porque está cerca el
reino de los cielos. Pasando junto al lago de Galilea,
vio a dos hermanos, a Simón, al que llaman Pedro, y
a Andrés, su hermano, que estaban echando el copo
en el lago, pues eran pescadores. Les dijo: Venid y
seguidme, y os haré pescadores de hombres. Inmediatamente dejaron las redes y lo siguieron. Y, pasando adelante, vio a otros dos hermanos, a Santiago,
hijo de Zebedeo, y a Juan, que estaban en la barca
repasando las redes con Zebedeo, su padre. Jesús los
llamó también. Inmediatamente dejaron la barca y a
su padre y lo siguieron. Recorría toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas y proclamando el Evangelio
del reino, curando las enfermedades y dolencias del
pueblo.

La Fiesta de Presentación del Señor
El día Sábado 2 de Febrero de 2008 vamos a
celebrar la Misa en Español a horas 6:30 PM. Invitamos cordialmente y no se olviden traer las velas.
La Presentación del Señor es la fiesta de Cristo, luz de los
pueblos y del encuentro del Mesías con su pueblo en el Templo de Jerusalén. El gesto de obediencia a la ley de ofrenda,
realizado por María y José que llevan al niño Jesús para presentarlo en el Templo debe inspirarnos a vivir plenamente la
unión con Dios bajo el ejemplo de la Sagrada Familia comprometida y consagrada a vivir la misión específica dentro de
los designios que Dios les propone. En este día al igual que
el viejo Simeón y la profetiza Ana, contemplamos al Niño Divino, el Verbo Encarnado que es presentado en el templo de
Jerusalén que representa el templo de nuestro corazón.
Los papás de los niños de Confirmación tienen su
reunión el día 28 de Enero de 2008. La reunión se
realizará en Makuch Hall a las 6:30 PM
Las próximas clases de Religión (Catecismo,
CCD) vamos a tener día 9 de Febrero de 2008 de
8:00 AM a 10:00 AM.

Campaña Católica Anual de 2008
Un donativo significativo a la
Campaña Católica Anual tocará
las vidas de otros muchos de una
manera muy positiva. La Campaña Católica Anual proporciona
una parte significativa del presupuesto de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago. La mayoría
de las diócesis del país llevan a cabo una campaña
una vez al año para ayudar con los gastos de proporcionar servicios y programas a sus parroquias y a la
gente. La Arquidiócesis de Chicago no es excepción.
La Campaña Católica Anual es muy distinta a una
colecta especial de una vez. Es una campaña de compromiso, en la que puede hacer un donativo, a pagar
en cinco meses.
A veces es difícil imaginarse cómo un compromiso
puede ayudar a una organización del tamaño de
nuestra Arquidiócesis y cómo puede de verdad marcar una diferencia. Pero cada compromiso es importante porque todas las parroquias participan en la
campaña y los donativos de muchos permiten a la
Arquidiócesis proporcionar los ministerios y servicios necesarios.

sepa tocar el Bajo y también necesita personas que
puedan cantar, Necesitan voces de mujeres y hombres.
Por favor ayúdenles con su tiempo y talentos musicales. El coro Participa en la Misa de 12:30pm los domingos y los Miércoles a las 7pm para el Circulo de

Gdy Jezus posłyszał, że Jan został uwięziony, usunął się do
Galilei. Opuścił jednak Nazaret, przyszedł i osiadł w Kafarnaum nad jeziorem, na pograniczu Zabulona i Neftalego.
Tak miało się spełnić słowo proroka Izajasza: Ziemia Zabulona i ziemia Neftalegou, Droga morska, Zajordanie, Galilea
pogan! Lud, który siedział w ciemności, ujrzał światło wielkie, i mieszkańcom cienistej krainy śmierci światło wzeszło.
Odtąd począł Jezus nauczać i mówić: Nawracajcie się, albowiem bliskie jest królestwo niebieskie. Gdy Jezus przechodził obok Jeziora Galilejskiego, ujrzał dwóch braci: Szymona, zwanego Piotrem, i brata jego, Andrzeja, jak zarzucali
sieć w jezioro; byli bowiem rybakami. I rzekł do nich:
Pójdźcie za Mną, a uczynię was rybakami ludzi. Oni natychmiast zostawili sieci i poszli za Nim. A gdy poszedł stamtąd
dalej, ujrzał innych dwóch braci, Jakuba, syna Zebedeusza, i
brata jego, Jana, jak z ojcem swym Zebedeuszem naprawiali
w łodzi swe sieci. Ich też powołał. A oni natychmiast zostawili łódź i ojca i poszli za Nim. I obchodził Jezus całą Galileę, nauczając w tamtejszych synagogach, głosząc Ewangelię o królestwie i lecząc wszelkie choroby i wszelkie słabości
wśród ludu.

OFIAROWANIE PAŃSKIE
Nazwa dzisiejszego święta wywodzi się
od dwóch terminów greckich: Hypapante oraz Heorte ton Kataroin, co
oznacza święto spotkania i oczyszczenia.
Oba te święta były głęboko zakorzenione w tradycji Starego Testamentu. Na
pamiątkę ocalenia pierworodnych synów
Izraela podczas niewoli egipskiej, każdy
pierworodny syn u Żydów był uważany
za własność Boga. Dlatego dnia 40 po jego urodzeniu należało syna zanieść do świątyni w Jerozolimie, złożyć go w
ręce kapłana, a następnie wykupić za symboliczną opłatą
5 sykłow. Równało się to zarobkowi 5 dni pracy. Równocześnie z obrzędem ofiarowania i wykupu pierworodnego
syna łączyła się ceremonia oczyszczenia matki dziecka. Z
tej okazji matka była zobowiązana złożyć ofiarę z baranka,
a jeśli jej na to nie pozwalało zbyt wielkie ubóstwo, to
przynajmniej ofiarę z dwóch synogarlic lub gołębi. Fakt, że
Maryja i Józef złożyli synogarlicę, świadczy, że byli bardzo
ubodzy.
Uroczystość Ofiarowania Pańskiego przypada czterdziestego dnia po Bożym Narodzeniu. Jest to pamiątka ofiarowania Pana Jezusa w świątyni jerozolimskiej i dokonania
przez Matkę Bożą obrzędu oczyszczenia. Święto Ofiarowania jest związane z tajemnicą Narodzenia Pańskiego i dlatego jeszcze dziś wolno śpiewać kolędy.
Od 1997 r. 2 lutego Kościół powszechny obchodzi ustanowiony przez Jana Pawła II Dzień Życia Konsekrowanego, poświęcony modlitwie za osoby, które oddały swoje
życie na służbę Bogu i ludziom w niezliczonych zakonach,
zgromadzeniach i instytutach świeckich. Pamiętajmy o
nich w podczas naszej dzisiejszej modlitwy na Eucharystii.

Jezusa w świątyni. Zapraszamy na Mszę świętą w języku polskim o godzinie 8:00 PM. Nie zapomnijmy
przynieść świece (gromnice).
Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka 2008
Znacząca ofiara na rzecz Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej pozwala
każdemu z nas zaistnieć w losach wielu innych osób w bardzo
pozytywny sposób. Fundusze zebrane podczas Dorocznej Kwesty
Katolickiej stanowią znaczną część budżetu Archidiecezji Chicago. Większość diecezji w całym kraju przeprowadza kwestę raz
do roku w celu pokrycia kosztów związanych ze świadczeniem
usług i prowadzeniem różnego rodzaju programów dla osób z
terenów swoich parafii. Archidiecezja w Chicago nie jest wyjątkiem.
Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka w dużej mierze różni się od drugiej
tacy zbieranej jednorazowo na specjalny cel. Kwesta oferuje plan,
w którym można się zobowiązać do złożenia danej ofiary z możliwością spłaty całej kwoty w ratach, przez okres pięciu miesięcy.
Czasami trudno jest sobie wyobrazić na ile jedna ofiara jest w
stanie pomóc organizacji na skalę Archidiecezji, na ile ma ona
rzeczywiście znaczenie. A jednak pojedyncza ofiara liczy się,
ponieważ wszystkie parafie biorą udział w Kweście i to właśnie
ofiary wielu pozwalają Archidiecezji na zapewnianie tak potrzebnych duszpasterstw i usług.

W tym tygodniu przypada pierwszy piątek miesiąca. Odwiedziny chorych jak
zwykle od godz. 9-tej rano. Zapraszamy
na Mszę św. pierwszopiątkową o godz.
7:00 wieczorem.
Odwiedziny Duszpasterskie
Trwa czas duszpasterskiego odwiedzania
rodzin, popularnie zwany kolędą. Z tej też
okazji zachęcamy rodziny do kontaktowania
się z wybranym przez siebie kapłanem w
celu zaproszenia Go w progi swego domu.
Jest to polska tradycja, która ma na celu bliższe poznanie parafian, ich problemów oraz wspólną modlitwę z kapłanem w gronie rodziny.

Kurs przed Chrztem dziecka
Przypominamy, że w każdą trzecią niedzielę miesiąca w naszej
parafii po Mszy św. o godz.
10.30 odbywa się kurs przygotowujący rodziców i chrzestnych
do chrztu dziecka.
Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić
dziecko w naszej parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się na ten
kurs prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać, aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej
półtora miesiąca prze chrztem. (Aby uczestniczyć w
kursie przygotowującym)
► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt urodzenia
dziecka.
Prasa Katolicka
Tak jak w każdą niedzielę tak również i
dzisiaj wychodząc z kościoła można
nabyć nowy numer Tygodnika Katolickiego „Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na temat życia
kościoła w Polsce także naszej Archidiecezji. Czytając ten tygodnik a także
inne publikacje np.: „Różaniec”, „Anioł
stróż”, „Rodzina Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
Jest także do wzięcia za darmo gazeta „Katolik” wydawana przez naszą Archidiecezję Chicago.
U Pana Andrzeja przy wyjściu z kościoła
można zakupić duże świece (gromnice).
