Izraelska operacja w Strefie Gazy – Osiągnięcie celów
i wstrzymanie ognia
Operacja Płynny ołów doprowadziła do ciężkich i bezprecedensowych zniszczeń
struktur władzy i terrorystycznej infrastruktury Hamasu. Zginęły setki terrorystów,
poważne straty odniosła organizacja bojowa, zniszczono setki obiektów tj. tunele
służące do przemytu, magazyny broni, ośrodki dowodzenia i szkoleniowe.
W wyniku działań dyplomatycznych, prowadzonych równocześnie z operacją
wojskową, powstała regionalna wspólnota na rzecz ograniczenia przemytu broni,
dążąca do zakończenia rozbudowy arsenału Hamasu i zatrzymania penetracji
Strefy Gazy przez Iran. Procesowi temu przewodziły Stany Zjednoczone,
państwa europejskie oraz pragmatyczni przywódcy z regionu Bliskiego Wschodu,
na czele z prezydentem Egiptu Mubarakiem.

W rezultacie Izrael postanowił odpowiedzieć na prośbę Egiptu i w niedzielę 18
stycznia wstrzymał działania wojskowe w Strefie Gazy. Jeśli natomiast Hamas
zdecyduje się kontynuować działania terrorystyczne i ostrzał Izraela, Cahal
(Izraelskie Siły Obronne) wznowi działania w celu ochrony obywateli swojego
kraju. Cahal pozostawi tymczasem swoje oddziały w Strefie Gazy w stanie
gotowości. Po całkowitym wstrzymaniu ognia przez Hamas, wojska izraelskiej
rozważą możliwość całkowitego wycofania się z Gazy.
Izrael nie walczy z ludnością palestyńską, lecz z terrorystyczną organizacją
Hamas. Izraelskie władze prowadzą nieustanny dialog z liderami ruchów
umiarkowanych w celu osiągnięcia trwałego pokoju ze swoimi palestyńskimi
sąsiadami. Walce Izraela z terrorystami towarzyszą działania na rzecz pokoju
prowadzone w porozumieniu z prezydentem Autonomii Palestyńskiej
Mahmoudem Abbasem (Abu Maazenem) i premierem Fayyadem.

FM Livni spoke with UN Sec-Gen. Ban Ki-Moon
Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni spoke with UN
Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Monday afternoon, prior to his scheduled
visit in Israel on Tuesday. FM Livni told the Secretary General that Hamas has
shown over the years, and also during the recent operation, that it does not care
about the Palestinian population and is willing to sacrifice the people's basic
interests to its terrorist agenda. Hamas, Livni said, is responsible for the
situation in the Gaza Strip and is the cause of the destruction there.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of ensuring that the international
efforts to improve the situation in Gaza do not result in the strengthening or
legitimizing of the terror organization that, in all its actions, is endangering the
very population that it is supposedly governing.

Humanitarian aid flows in to Gaza via
Kerem Shalom, Karni and Nahal Oz Crossings
Kerem Shalom, Karni, Nahal Oz and Erez crossings operated today in order to
enable humanitarian movements and convey humanitarian goods in to Gaza.
Throughout the day 195 trucks laden with 4946 tons of supplies at the request of
various international organizations, donations from Jordan, Egypt and the Israeli
organization "latet" all made their way to Gaza. Following a successful pilot
yesterday, direct access from Egypt to Gaza was conducted and 10 trucks with
an Egyptian donation of 198 tons of flour entered directly in to Gaza though
Kerem Shalom. Also, the ICRC facilitated the transfer of ten ambulances from
the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the West Bank to the Gaza Strip, in
order to strengthen the ambulance fleet in Gaza. Further medical movements
included 33 Palestinians that left Gaza for medical treatment in Israel, including
eight cancer patients en route to Augusta Victoria hospital in Jerusalem.
Also, 537,100 liters of heavy duty diesel and 206 tons of domestic gas were
transferred to the Gaza Strip via Nahal Oz fuel depot.
Since the beginning of the operation, 41,937 tons of humanitarian supplies have
been transferred to Gaza in 1693 trucks. Also, 2,263,351 liters of fuel have been
conveyed through Nahal Oz and Kerem Shalom.
