(AN-P = 35 and BN-P = 35) and a subgroup, consisting of 9 patients, who stopped treatment before its scheduled
termination time (AN-DR = 9 and BN-DR = 9). In other words, the former
might be called ‘completers’ and the latter ‘dropouts’. We used the following
measuring tools: Hopkins Symptoms Checklist (HSCL-72), T. WysokinskaGasior and A. Matuszewski Motivational Inventory, and Adjective Check
List (ACL) according to Gough and Heilbrun. The subjects were examined
in two steps, namely during an initial test prior to the admission to our clinic
and at admission to our clinic.
Results:
Both subgroups of the patients suffering from nutrition disorders who prematurely stopped treatment (AN-DR and BN-DR) revealed significant differences in the level of motivation factors and in the similar number of
Adjective Check List scales.
Conclusions:
Treatment cessation in the group of patients with diagnosed anorexia nervosa was associated first and foremost with a low level of motivation for
treatment and with the avoidance of critical realization their own and interpersonal difficulties. In patients affected by bulimia nervosa psychotherapy
cessation was connected with difficulties in the sustainment of stable therapeutic relation and with signs of impulsiveness.
