Since 2007, Sebastian Sass is the Head of EU Representation of Nord Stream AG.
Nord Stream AG, a European-Russian joint venture, was established in December 2005 for the planning,
construction and subsequent operation of a new offshore gas pipeline across the Baltic Sea. The company’s
registered office is based in Zug, Switzerland. Gazprom holds a 51% interest in the joint venture, German
BASF/Wintershall and E.ON Ruhrgas hold 20% each. Dutch gas infrastructure company N.V. Nederlandse holds
9%.
Prior to joining Nord Stream, Sebastian Sass worked as EU Coordinator for the Finnish Minister of Justice during
Finland's EU Presidency. Between 2003 and 2006, Sebastian Sass was Secretary for International Affairs for the
Social Democratic Party Group in the Finnish Parliament. In 2005, he worked as an Advisor in the German
Parliament in the Department for European Affairs. From 2001 to 2002, Sebastian Sass worked as a Project
Manager "European Economic and Monetary Union" for the Consumer Protection Association of the City of
Hamburg.
Sebastian Sass holds a Masters degree in European Law (LLM).
