Invitation to Tender (Terms of Reference) No. 6012232/KW/11
The subject matter of the invitation is:
Testing of the catalysts in the phenol alkylation reaction
The work consists of:
1) state-of-the-art patent and literature research
2) testing of heterogeneous catalytic systems for the alkylation of phenol with propylene in liquid
as well as gaseous phase on a continuously working laboratory mini plant. Consideration and
preselection of 3-5 candidates for each process, provided by PCC, according to the product
property requirements defined by PCC, which are
a. purity
b. alkylation degree distribution
c. regioisomeric distribution
3) after identification of 1-3 potential candidates, operating conditions of each catalytic system
should be optimized regarding
a. activity
b. turnover
c. selectivity
d. long term stability under continuous reaction conditions (deactivation, poisoning)
4) optimization of process conditions with respect to
a. temperature
b. pressure
c. mass flow
d. residence time
e. propylene/phenol ratio
f. time space yield
5) identification and quantification of all mass streams. Monitoring by the technical setup of the
mini plant
6) identification and quantification of all reaction products via
a. GC
b. NMR
7) investigation of catalyst deactivation processes after long term testing by
a. electron microscopy
b. powder X-ray diffraction
c. thermal analysis (TGA)
d. IR spectroscopy

Start of work is August 1 2011.
All work should be carried out within 12 months.
A written scientific report on the results shall be submitted until 01.08.2012 in English in five copies
and also in electronic form (pdf, doc – format).
Description of the offer preparation
1. The offer must be prepared in the form appended to this invitation as Annex No. 1.

2. The technical drawings (pictures) of the miniplant installations must be attached to the offer
3. The offer must be signed by signatories indicated in the document entitling to enter into legal
relations on behalf of the tenderer or holding a power of attorney as appropriate (in case of a
power of attorney, it must be attached to the offer). Signatories should sign the annexes and all
the places where the tenderer made any changes.
4. The offer must be submitted by August 01, 2011 by 9:00 AM at the Purchasing Platform website
zakupy.pcc.pl or sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected]
The following must be attached to the offer:
1. Annex No. 1 to the Offer – scope of work / technical specification
2. Annex No. 2 to the Offer - company registration documents
3. Annex No. 3 to the Offer - The technical drawings (pictures) of the miniplant installations
The criteria for offer evaluation:
All offers which fulfill a.m. requirements will be compared to:
1. Subject of matter
2. Setup of technical and analytical equipment described in Subject of matter
3. Price

3. Offers not meeting the above requirements shall not be taken into consideration.
4. PCC Rokita SA. reserves the right to:
a) a free selection of the offer,
b) recall the tender action (proceedings) without specifying a reason thereto,
c) close the tender action (proceedings) without selecting any offer.
