Oil is flowing in the Zhubantam licensed territory in Kazakhstan owned by Petrolinvest S.A.
The Management Board of Petrolinvest S.A. has been informed of the first inflow of oil on Saturday,
September 22. The oil originated from the G4-D well operated by EmbaYugNeft, a subsidiary of
Petrolinvest. The roughly 8-metre thick rock layer from which oil was extracted was perforated over the
length of 5 metres. The well's current daily output is 40 barrels.
Paweł Gricuk, Petrolinvest’s CEO, is optimistic about the further exploitation of the well. "The oil
inflow confirms the earlier interpretation of geophysical tests which indicated the presence of oil in the
three subsequent layers of the well", he says. According to the tests, the subsequent layers of the
combined thickness of 45 metres are also oil-bearing. The layers will be sampled over the next two
weeks and afterwards monthly production tests will be conducted. The final findings of the tests of all the
layers of the G4-D well will then be presented in the form of a current report. The drilling of the G-14D
well showing oil presence in rock samples is currently nearing its end.
By the end of 2007, the additional three shallow wells (up to 750 metres deep), 2 "slim holes" 3 to 4
medium-sized wells of up to 2,000 metre depth and one deep well of up to 5,000 metres will be
completed. The commencement of trial exploitation of the field is scheduled at the turn of the year.
"I wish to stress that Ryszard Krauze takes the credit associated with this venture. It is to him that we
owe the first barrel of Polish oil in Kazakhstan", says Gricuk.
In line with Petrolinvest’s strategy, tests and drilling work are also underway at the two remaining
licensed sites of Dautskoye and OTG in Kazakhstan
