LINCOLN’S FOR LEARNING
The school children are trying to reach their goal of
200,000 pennies for the benefit of the school. To
date they have collected $951.00. They still need
$1,049! Mr. Theis, the school principal, promised
that if the goal is reached he will sleep in the school attic one
night! The children are trying very hard to reach their goal of
200,000 pennies so that their principal can keep his promise!.
If anyone would like to help them it would be much appreciated.

The Liturgy of the Word for the 2nd Sunday of
Lent
Genesis 15:5 -12:, 17 -18: In a holy covenant
God promises Abram a homeland.
Psalm 27: “”The Lord is my light and my salvation.”
Phillipians 3:17-4:1l: Christ will change our lowly body to conform
with his glorified body.
Luke 9:23b-36: His face changed in appearance and his clothes
became dazzlingly white.
Who can forget the “bargain” that Abraham tried to make with
God when he interceded on behalf of the people of Sodom and
Gomorrah? That was pretty bold of him, wasn’t it? Think, too,
about how David, Job, Isaiah, and Paul all communicated with the
Lord. And we all know about Mary’s conversation with the angel
Gabriel. In fact, the more you look at the Bible, the more stories
you find about ordinary human beings actually speaking with - and
hearing-from Almighty God. It’s on almost every page of Scripture!
All of these divine encounters are summed up and capped off by
the story of Jesus’ transfiguration. If none of the other stories in the
Bible convinces us, perhaps this amazing event can help us believe that communication with heaven really is possible.
The story of Jesus’ transfiguration prompts us to ask a key question: Does my experience at Mass, in prayer, or while reading
Scripture, include being influenced by Jesus? Does it include the
promise that I can hear from heaven and be changed by what I
hear? We may not know exactly what it feels like when Jesus is
speaking to us, but there are a few signs we can be on the lookout
for.
Perhaps you feel a desire in your heart to praise Jesus and thank
him for his love. Perhaps you experience a growing hatred of sin
and the way it separates you from the peace of Christ. You may
feel a great sense of happiness, peace, or joy-especially after receiving the Eucharist. Or possibly you will find yourself moved to
show greater love for your family. Or maybe you will experience a
growing desire to serve the Lord, whether in your parish or in your
community. Don’t discount these feelings! Jesus works in many
ways, and the more we respond to him, the more confident we will
be in his love.
“Jesus, I trust that you hear my prayers, and so I will keep coming
to you. Lord, I trust you to give me the wisdom and grace to live a
life pleasing to you.”

En aquel tiempo, Jesús se llevó a Pedro, a Juan y a Santiago a lo
alto de una montaña, para orar. Y mientras oraba. El aspecto de
su rostro cambió, sus vestidos brillaban de blancos. De repente,
dos hombres conversaban con él: eran Moisés y Elías, que aparecieron con gloria, hablan de su muerte, que iba a consumar en
Jerusalén. Pedro y sus compañeros se caían de sueño; y espabilándose vieron su gloria y a los dos hombres que estaban con él.
Mientras éstos se alejaban, dijo Pedro a Jesús: Maestro, qué bien
se está aquí. Haremos tres tiendas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y
otra para Elías. No sabía lo que decía. Todavía estaba hablando
cuando llegó una nube que los cubrió. Se asustaron al entrar en la
nube. Una voz desde la nube decía: Este es mi Hijo, el escogido,
escuchadle.
Cuando sonó la voz, se encontró Jesús solo. Ellos guardaban silencio y, por el momento no contaron a nadie nada de lo que habían visto.

MENSAJE DEL SANTO PADRE BENEDICTO XVI PARA LA CUARESMA 2007
“Mirarán al que traspasaron” (Jn 19,37)
Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
«Mirarán al que traspasaron» (Jn 19, 37). Este es el tema bíblico que guía este
año nuestra reflexión cuaresmal. La Cuaresma es un tiempo propicio para
aprender a permanecer con María y Juan, el discípulo predilecto, junto a Aquel
que en la cruz consuma el sacrificio de su vida por toda la humanidad (cf. Jn 19,
25). Por tanto, con una atención más viva, dirijamos nuestra mirada, en este
tiempo de penitencia y de oración, a Cristo crucificado que, muriendo en el
Calvario, nos reveló plenamente el amor de Dios. En la encíclica Deus caritas
est traté con detenimiento el tema del amor, destacando sus dos formas fundamentales: el agapé y el eros.
El amor de Dios: agapé y eros El término agapé, que aparece muchas veces
en el Nuevo Testamento, indica el amor oblativo de quien busca exclusivamente el bien del otro; la palabra eros denota, en cambio, el amor de quien desea
poseer lo que le falta y anhela la unión con el amado. El amor con que Dios nos
envuelve es sin duda agapé. En efecto, ¿acaso puede el hombre dar a Dios
algo bueno que él no posea ya? Todo lo que la criatura humana es y tiene es
don divino; por tanto, es la criatura la que tiene necesidad de Dios en todo. Pero
el amor de Dios es también eros. En el Antiguo Testamento el Creador del
universo muestra hacia el pueblo que eligió una predilección que trasciende
toda motivación humana. El profeta Oseas expresa esta pasión divina con
imágenes audaces como la del amor de un hombre por una mujer adúltera (cf.
Os 3, 1-3); Ezequiel, por su parte, hablando de la relación de Dios con el pueblo
de Israel, no tiene miedo de usar un lenguaje ardiente y apasionado (cf. Ez 16,
1-22). Estos textos bíblicos indican que el eros forma parte del corazón de
Dios: el Todopoderoso espera el «sí» de sus criaturas como un joven esposo el

de su esposa. Por desgracia, desde sus orígenes, la humanidad, seducida por
las mentiras del Maligno, se ha cerrado al amor de Dios, con el espejismo de
una autosuficiencia imposible (cf. Gn 3, 1-7). Replegándose en sí mismo, Adán
se alejó de la fuente de la vida que es Dios mismo, y se convirtió en el primero
de «los que, por temor a la muerte, estaban de por vida sometidos a esclavitud» (Hb 2, 15). Dios, sin embargo, no se dio por vencido; más aún, el «no» del
hombre fue como el impulso decisivo que lo indujo a manifestar su amor con
toda su fuerza redentora.
La cruz revela la plenitud del amor de Dios En el misterio de la cruz se revela
plenamente el poder irrefrenable de la misericordia del Padre celeste. Para
reconquistar el amor de su criatura, aceptó pagar un precio muy alto: la sangre
de su Hijo unigénito. La muerte, que para el primer Adán era signo extremo de
soledad y de impotencia, se transformó de este modo en el acto supremo de
amor y de libertad del nuevo Adán.
Así pues, podemos afirmar, con san Máximo el Confesor, que Cristo «murió, si
así puede decirse, divinamente, porque murió libremente» (Ambigua, 91, 1956).
En la cruz se manifiesta el eros de Dios por nosotros. Efectivamente, eros es —
como dice el Pseudo Dionisio Areopagita— la fuerza «que hace que los amantes no lo sean de sí mismos, sino de aquellos a los que aman» (De divinis nominibus, IV, 13: PG 3, 712). ¿Qué mayor «eros loco» (N. Cabasilas, Vida en
Cristo, 648) que el que impulsó al Hijo de Dios a unirse a nosotros hasta el
punto de sufrir las consecuencias de nuestros delitos como si fueran propias?
«Al que traspasaron» Queridos hermanos y hermanas, miremos a Cristo traspasado en la cruz. Él es la revelación más impresionante del amor de Dios, un
amor en el que eros y agapé, lejos de contraponerse, se iluminan mutuamente.
En la cruz Dios mismo mendiga el amor de su criatura: tiene sed del amor de
cada uno de nosotros. El apóstol Tomás reconoció a Jesús como «Señor y
Dios» cuando metió la mano en la herida de su costado. No es de extrañar que,
entre los santos, muchos hayan encontrado en el Corazón de Jesús la expresión más conmovedora de este misterio de amor. Se podría decir, incluso, que
la revelación del eros de Dios hacia el hombre es, en realidad, la expresión
suprema de su agapé. En verdad, sólo el amor en el que se unen el don gratuito de uno mismo y el deseo apasionado de reciprocidad infunde un gozo tan
intenso que convierte en leves incluso los sacrificios más duros. Jesús dijo: «Yo, cuando sea elevado de la tierra, atraeré a todos hacia mí» (Jn 12, 32).
La respuesta que el Señor desea ardientemente de nosotros es ante todo que
aceptemos su amor y nos dejemos atraer por él. Sin embargo, aceptar su amor
no es suficiente. Hay que corresponder a ese amor y luego comprometerse a
comunicarlo a los demás: Cristo «me atrae hacia sí» para unirse a mí, a fin de
que aprenda a amar a los hermanos con su mismo amor.
Sangre y agua «Mirarán al que traspasaron». Miremos con confianza el costado
traspasado de Jesús, del que salió «sangre y agua» (Jn 19, 34). Los Padres de
la Iglesia consideraron estos elementos como símbolos de los sacramentos del
bautismo y de la Eucaristía. Con el agua del bautismo, gracias a la acción del
Espíritu Santo, se nos revela la intimidad del amor trinitario. En el camino cuaresmal, recordando nuestro bautismo, se nos exhorta a salir de nosotros mismos para abrirnos, con un abandono confiado, al abrazo misericordioso del
Padre (cf. san Juan Crisóstomo, Catequesis, 3, 14 ss). La sangre, símbolo del
amor del buen Pastor, llega a nosotros especialmente en el misterio eucarístico: «La Eucaristía nos adentra en el acto oblativo de Jesús (...); nos implicamos en la dinámica de su entrega» (Deus caritas est, 13). Vivamos, pues, la
Cuaresma como un tiempo «eucarístico», en el que, aceptando el amor de
Jesús, aprendamos a difundirlo a nuestro alrededor con cada gesto y cada
palabra. De ese modo, contemplar «al que traspasaron» nos llevará a abrir el
corazón a los demás, reconociendo las heridas infligidas a la dignidad del ser
humano; y nos llevará, en especial, a luchar contra toda forma de desprecio de
la vida y de explotación de la persona, y a aliviar los dramas de la soledad y del
abandono de muchas personas. Que la Cuaresma sea para todos los cristianos
una experiencia renovada del amor de Dios que se nos ha dado en Cristo, amor
que también nosotros cada día debemos «volver a dar» al prójimo, especialmente al que sufre y al necesitado. Sólo así podremos participar plenamente en
la alegría de la Pascua.
Que María, la Madre del Amor Hermoso, nos guíe en este itinerario cuaresmal,
camino de auténtica conversión al amor de Cristo. A vosotros, queridos hermanos y hermanas, os deseo un provechoso camino cuaresmal y con afecto os
envío a todos una bendición apostólica especial.

Jezus wziął z sobą Piotra, Jana i Jakuba i wyszedł na górę,
aby się modlić. Gdy się modlił, wygląd Jego twarzy się odmienił, a Jego odzienie stało się lśniąco białe. A oto dwóch
mężów rozmawiało z Nim. Byli to Mojżesz i Eliasz. Ukazali
się oni w chwale i mówili o Jego odejściu, którego miał dokonać w Jerozolimie. Tymczasem Piotr i towarzysze snem
byli zmorzeni. Gdy się ocknęli, ujrzeli Jego chwałę i obydwóch mężów, stojących przy Nim. Gdy oni odchodzili od
Niego, Piotr rzekł do Jezusa: Mistrzu, dobrze, że tu jesteśmy. Postawimy trzy namioty: jeden dla Ciebie, jeden dla

Gorzkie Żale to nabożeństwo odprawiane w
Wielkim Poście - okresie liturgicznym, w którym rozważana jest Męka Pańska, a w Wielkim
Tygodniu ukrzyżowanie i śmierć Pana Jezusa.
Okres ten cechuje muzyka bardziej rzewna, z
którą kojarzą się takie uczucia jak żałość, litość, współczucie itp. Wszystkie pieśni okresu
pasyjnego są w tonacji molowej, czyli smutnej,
potrzebnej do zamyślenia, zadumy czy refleksji i zastanowienia się. Wzruszające teksty do wszystkich pieśni tego
okresu potęgują niepowtarzalny klimat. Uroczysty charakter, rzewna przepiękna muzyka, wzruszające teksty - czy
po prostu w dzisiejszym życiu, gdzie coraz bardziej wdziera
się egoizm, tupet, pogoń za materią, tęsknić zaczynamy za
zamyśleniem, przeproszeniem, za współczuciem, litością,
za pokorą czy wręcz pokutą. Gorzkie Żale to jakby streszczenie całego okresu Wielkiego Postu: całej męki, ukrzyżowania i śmierci Pana Jezusa, których rozważanie przez
śpiew pięknych, bardzo rzewnych melodii, odbywa się w
kościele w sposób bardzo uroczysty, przy wystawieniu Najświętszego Sakramentu.

przyczynił się do sukcesu tegorocznego wieczoru tanecznego.

Misje Święte w naszej parafii
11 - 18 marca 2007
Słowo misja dotyczy w swym najgłębszym znaczeniu samego Trójjedynego Boga, który w swej wielkiej miłości
wychodzi do człowieka. Bóg Ojciec tak bardzo pragnie
zbawienia grzesznej ludzkości, że posyła na świat swego
Syna, który w tajemnicy wcielenia przyjmuje ludzką naturę i umiera za nas na krzyżu. Daje nam także
Ducha Świętego, aby działał w głębi ludzkich
serc, prowadził i uświęcał założony przez Jezusa Kościół. To właśnie Kościołowi Chrystus
powierzył kontynuowanie swej zbawczej misji.
Już dziś serdecznie zapraszamy na Misje
Święte – czas szczególnej łaski, dany nam,
aby na nowo odkryć dar wiary oraz przyjąć
Bożą miłość. Zechciejmy nasze codzienne problemy i
zmagania zawierzyć Bogu. Otwórzmy się na dar Słowa,
aby w Jego świetle poszukać odpowiedzi na pytania, jakie
stawia nam życie. Zaplanujmy już dziś ten tydzień tak,
aby w pełni wykorzystać ów niezwykły czas! Misje Święte
rozpoczną się 11 marca i zakończą się 18 marca 2007
roku. Każdego dnia będzie możliwość uczestniczyć w kazaniach misyjnych o godzinie
12:00pm lub o 7:00pm. Misje będzie prowadził

... "Czym jest nawrócenie?" - zastanawiał się Papież tłumacząc po chwili, że jest ono procesem, codzienną drogą całego
naszego życia. Przytaczając słowa Jezusa z ewangelii św.
Marka: Nawracajcie się i wierzcie w Ewangelię, Ojciec
Święty powiedział, że chodzi o odrzucenie zła i czynienie
dobra. Szczere pragnienie Boga, będące jego darem, prowadzi do odrzucenia zła i czynienia dobra. Nawrócenie serca to
bezinteresowny dar Boga. On sam, poprzez łaskę, towarzyszy naszym wysiłkom, zmierzającym do nawrócenia. Nawrócić się, to szukać Boga, iść z Bogiem, iść za nauczaniem Jezusa Chrystusa, i "wyrwać z naszych pragnień korzenie próżności" ustępując miejsca pragnieniu Boga - wyjaśnił Papież.
Benedykt XVI podkreślał, że nawrócenie nie jest wysiłkiem
zmierzającym do samorealizacji, bo człowiek nie jest architektem swego przeznaczenia i twórcą siebie samego. Autorealizacja była w tym sensie wewnętrzną sprzecznością, gdyż
czeka nas wyższe przeznaczenie. Nawrócenie jest poszukiwaniem Boga, "akceptowaniem dobrowolnie i z miłością, że
zależymy od miłości Stwórcy".
"Nawrócić się to znaczy nie szukać własnego sukcesu, czegoś, co przemija, ale porzucając ludzkie bezpieczeństwo,
ruszyć za Panem, aby każdego dnia, jak mawiała Matka Teresa z Kalkuty, Jezus "stawał się moim wszystkim we
wszystkim" - podsumował Ojciec Święty dodając, że "Kto
pozwoli Mu się zdobyć, nie obawia się stracić własnego życia"...

Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na
temat życia kościoła w Polsce także naszej
Archidiecezji. Czytając ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje np. „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
Jest także do wzięcia za darmo gazeta „Katolik” wydawana przez naszą Archidiecezję Chicago.

Wielkanoc które można wysłać do rodziny
w Polsce.
