Piotr Majewski, Associated Professor, graduated from the Faculty of History at the Warsaw University in 1995. He also completed School of Journalism of the weekly „Polityka” (1993) and Post-Diploma Museological Studies at the Warsaw University Faculty of History (2001). In 2003, he has defended his PhD thesis on Wojna i kultura. Instytucje kultury polskiej w okupacyjnych realiach Generalnego Gubernatorstwa 1939-1945 [War and Culture. Institutions of the Polish Culture in Occupational Realities of the General Governorate 1939-1945], (published in Warsaw 2005), and a post-doctoral thesis in 2010, on Ideologia i konserwacja. Architektura zabytkowa w Polsce w czasach socrealizmu [Ideology and Conservation. Historical Architecture in Poland in the Times of Socialist Realism], (published in Warsaw 2009 and awarded by Historical Book Publishers’ Alliance KLIO). From 1995 to 2009, Piotr Majewski worked at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, and his last position held was the curator of the Historical Studies Center. From 2009 to 2011, he was the deputy director of the Cultural Heritage Department at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. From March 2011 he is the director of the National Institute for Museums and Public Collections and editor-in-chief of the annual ‘Muzealnictwo’ [Museology]. From October 2015, he holds a position of Associated Professor at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.
