Assemblée parlementaire de l’OTAN NATO Parliamentary Assembly Ms Anna FOTYGA Mr Jan DZIEDZICZAK Delegation of the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland to the NATO PA c/o Ms Natalia Jaskiewicz International Affairs Bureau Chancellery of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland SEJM ul. Wiejska 4/6 PL-00-902 WARSAW 16 December 2013 Dear Anna, dear Jan, Thank you for your letter regarding the postponement of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council (UNIC) meeting, which was due to take place on 12 December in Brussels. I fully share your view that the situation in Ukraine is of direct and relevance and great importance to the NATO PA, and that we should continue to support the reform process and the country’s Euro-Atlantic path. I also agree that the current crisis must be resolved peacefully, through a dialogue between all political forces, with full respect for the freedom of expression and assembly. UNIC provides a unique forum for NATO PA members to exchange views with their counterparts in the Verkhovna Rada on all these issues, and we should make the fullest use of it particularly in the current delicate environment. I therefore fully support your suggestion of holding the next meeting of UNIC as soon as possible, and, if that is feasible, in Ukraine. Svitlana Svyetova at the NATO PA International Secretariat is already in contact with the Ukrainian delegation to enquire about a possible date for holding the next meeting of UNIC in Kyiv. Please do not hesitate to contact me or her should you have any further concerns or questions. Thank you again for your strong commitment to, and active involvement in, furthering the NATO PA’s relations with Ukraine. Best wishes, Hugh Bayley The President • Le Président Place du Petit Sablon 3 • 1000 Bruxelles • Belgique Tel: +32 2 513 28 65 • Fax: +32 2 513 59 23 • email: [email protected] • website: www.nato-pa.int
