Description
The Studio of Multimedia Graphics Basics aims at acquainting a student of the Graphics
Faculty with electronic tools of artistic creation, their cooperation and dependence. In the
studio students get to know practical forms of using such devices as the camcorder,
video or the computer. They get the possibility to use those tools in artistic work. New
computer and software generation, electronic communication via the Internet allowing
for rapid flow of knowledge and information, new opportunities in contemporary art – all
those factors have got greater impact on the way students understand graphics design,
its new opportunities and their own expectations. Undoubtedly graphics design meets
nowadays new challenges but easiness with which is adopts the newest technique and
electronic achievements – some of them created just for the graphic design needs –
seems to show more steady and balanced development of this discipline.
Multimedia design basics are to prepare the students to undertake studies on the third
year of Graphic Design Studies with regards to the principles of creating designer’s
workshop and the ability to use computer workshop and knowledge of visual structures.
Teaching methods, form of classes
Because of the fact that during a semester students fulfill from four to seven design
tasks, sometimes working out a few options of one task and all of the works are
subjected to series of correction, amendments and changes it is not necessary to carry
all of them till the end.
Evaluation method
Getting credits and marks takes place per each semester. A semester ends with an
overview, choice of work for the exhibition and getting credits. The quality and artistic
maturity are chiefly taken into account. Most often it is conciseness, sharp thought
abbreviation and graphic symbol clarity which is the most important but also autonomy,
solutions originality and stylistic innovation is appreciated.
