Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Last Sunday, the Sunday of the Feast of the Bap sm
of the Lord, marked the beginning of Ordinary Time
in the Catholic Calendar. Ordinary Time will last un l
Ash Wednesday, that is February 18, 2015.
Today we hear the Gospel according to John (1: 3542), which tells of the appointment of the first Apostles of Jesus, Andrew and his brother Simon,
whose name the Lord Jesus changed to Cephas or Peter. A simple
and uneducated fisherman became the first Pope of the Church.
With God nothing is impossible.
I want to wholeheartedly thank all those who were involved in

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele,
Po ubiegłej Niedzieli Chrztu Pańskiego rozpoczął się w
Kościele tzw. okres zwykły, który będzie trwać aż do
Środy Popielcowej, czyli 18-go lutego. Dzisiaj
słuchamy Ewangelii według św. Jana (1:35-42), która
mówi o powołaniu przez Jezusa pierwszych
Apostołów, Andrzeja i brata jego Szymona, któremu
Pan Jezus zmienił imię na Kefas czyli Piotr. Prosty i
niewykształcony rybak został pierwszym Papieżem Kościoła. U
Boga bowiem nie ma nic niemożliwego.
Chcę z całego serca podziękować tym wszystkim, którzy
zaangażowali się w przygotowanie dekoracji na święta Bożego
Narodzenia. W sposób szczególny dziękuję następującym

październiku 2016 roku, planujemy pierwsze spotkanie
organizacyjne, na które zapraszamy wszystkich chętnych.
Spotkanie będzie miało miejsce w Sali Ks. Borowczyka,
w czwartek, 26-go lutego, początek o godz. 7:00-ej wieczorem.
Jeśli ktoś z was ma jakieś suges e, życzenia bardzo prosze o
kontakt.

The Parish Transforma on Team’s Ac on Plan included
the ins tu on of a monthly Children’s Liturgy of the
Word. This is a program where children from 5 to 10
years of age are invited during the Liturgy to go to a
separate loca on and hear an age appropriate lesson
related to the readings of the day. They will be invited
to leave a er the opening prayer and will return to join
their families a er the Creed. They will then celebrate
the rest of the mass with their parents.
We will begin this monthly program with the first Sunday of February, that is, February 1st at the 10:30 AM
Mass. Catechists from the Religious Educa on Program will be organizing the materials and will be in
charge of this program. It will be on the first Sunday of
each month excluding the summer months.
This is not a replacement for Elementary School Religion or Religious Educa on for your child but an addional tool to help them understand the readings of the
day.

program please contact Pat for more informa on at

In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year anniversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on
which you can place the names of your loved
ones: parents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the
dead can be named, so that their memory will
last forever. You can have your own name on a
leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds
from this project will be used for repairs of the
church parking area and parish buildings. There
are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of
Life". For the engraving and moun ng of each
small leaf, the dona on is $250.00, while for
each large leaf it is $400.00. The number of
leaves is limited and there may not be enough
for everyone. Please visit the rectory office to
complete all necessary transac ons.

A DAY OF PRAYER AND PENANCE FOR LIFE
In response to our Holy Father and the teaching of
our Catholic Church, please come join other people
of goodwill who want to protect the unborn, pregnant women, the elderly, the sick and the disabled.
Let’s pray, educate ourselves, and work together to
build a culture of life. All are strongly encouraged
to par cipate in the 2015 Chicago March for Life.

full restora on of the legal guarantee of the right to life
and of penance for viola ons to the dignity of the human
person commi ed through acts of abor on.
Why a Day Prayer
and Penance?
In the U.S., the date of
January 22nd as the Day of Prayer
and Penance is significant because
this date marks the anniversary of
the deplorable Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized
abor on in the U.S. throughout all
nine months of pregnancy. The Roe
v. Wade decision legally established in the U.S. that most
laws against abor on in the United States were uncons tuonal, for privacy rights reasons, under the Due Process
Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Because abor on is
immoral and intrinsically evil, we as faithful Catholics are
obligated to teach against this grave evil. This is to be
worked towards certainly through social and poli cal acons; however, as an issue of faith, the weapons of prayer
and penance are of significance.
THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY January 18-25
"Give me a drink" "A Samaritan woman came to draw water and Jesus said to her, "Give
me a drink." The Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of
me, a woman of Samaria? Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gi of God, and who it is
that is saying to you, "Give me a drink" you would have asked him and he would have
given you living water." (cf. John 4:7-10)

observed at Graymoor from January 18-25, 1908. Today, the Week of Prayer for Chris an Unity invites the whole
Chris an community throughout the world to pray in communion with the prayer of Jesus “that they all may be
one” (John 17:21). ).

Today is Ecumenical Sunday when we celebrate what God is doing through the many ecumenical agencies—local,
regional, na onal and interna onal—that make up the modern ecumenical movement. As we con nue our special
prayers “that all may be one... that the world may believe” (John 17:21), we take me to familiarize ourselves with
the work that (insert the name of one or more agencies) does to promote understanding and coopera on among
Chris ans and others in our community.

Many of you have responded to the Annual Catholic Appeal mailing from Archbishop Cupich. On behalf of those served by the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you for your gi s. If

In addi on to providing for ministries and services throughout the Archdiocese, the Appeal also
funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our parish.
This year, the theme of the Appeal is Entrusted with Responsibility. God provides each of us with many gi s. We
have a responsibility not only to recognize these gi s but also to nurture them.
As we contemplate His gi s to us, we should also reflect on our gra tude for these gi s. Your financial support for

Dear Parishioners and Friends,
In February, we celebrate the Feast of St. Constance,
patroness of our church, parish, and school. In the
spirit of St. Constance we would like you to become a
St. Constance School Angel.
In the last year alone, our Angels were able to help
13 St. Constance School children, all with the moneys
that you have so graciously donated. Children from
these families received help because their parents
lost jobs, had large medical bills, or were unable to
work for an extended period of me.
Soon, in the mail you will be receiving more informa on on how to help children from families in difficult situa ons.

MAKE UP ENTRANCE EXAM
AND & 7th GRADE “EXPERIENCE RES” DAY
Resurrec on College Prep High
School is offering an Entrance Exam for eighth grade girls who
were unable to a end the exam
at Resurrec on on January 10,
2015. The Entrance Exam will be
given on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 8 am un l
approximately noon. Tes ng at Resurrec on will
ensure that a registering student will be eligible for
the best selec on of classes at registra on for the
2015-16 school year on February 28, 2015.
Pre-registra on is necessary for the January 24

On February 1st, 2015, a er holy mass,
there will be an exhibi on shown in the
Borowczyk parish hall, organized by the
Narodowe Siły Zbrojne – Nowe Pokolenie, which will present the exterminaon and mass murders conducted by the Ukrainian
Na onalists on the Polish civilians residing Poland’s
Eastern Borderlands. During the exhibi on, there will
be a chance to donate the most needed ar cles of
survival, which will be packed and sent to Polish families, whom reside Poland’s Eastern Borderlands. The
accepted ar cles are: Polish books, food with a long
date of expira on, clothes (only new clothing). Members of the Narodowe Siły Zbrojne – Nowe Pokolenie
will be present outside of the Borowczyk parish hall
to help out and answer any ques ons regarding the
collec on. There will be boxes outside of the parish
hall where the ar cles listed above can be dropped

Poverty Awareness Month
This January, we must be aware.
Let us be aware that the unemployment
rate in Chicago is 9 percent, one of the
worst in the United States, and the unemployment rate in the African-American
community in Illinois is 16 percent. Over
half of recent college graduates remain
unemployed. Let us be aware that the
poverty rate for women in Illinois is nearly 16 percent and that one in six Americans live in poverty.
Let us be aware that the implica ons of
these numbers mean that seniors have to
choose which of the life saving medicaons they need they can actually afford
to take, and that the children who most
need services are being shuffled to different schools while the city cuts vital curricular and extracurricular programs. But,
we cannot be s ll in that awareness. The
scales must fall from our eyes and we
must call others to shake the scales from
theirs. Then, we must act on the truths
we know from our own experiences and
from the resources the USCCB shares this
month to recognize the poverty and oppression that defines so much of our lives

ON DIFFERENT NAMES

My wife has a friend named Ann, and as far as I
can tell, this is what everybody calls her. Heck. I called
her that, too. Years ago, I mean. When I first met her. But Ann was
looking to run her first marathon back then, and learning my history,
she turned to me for counsel and support. While Ann eventually
brought her 26.2 home safe, sound, and in fine fashion, she seemed
less than totally engaged with training for the race early on. I say
this because o en when I saw her and asked about the miles she
was logging--or should have been logging--she told me she’d worry
about training tomorrow. Recalling Scarle O’Hara’s “Tomorrow-isanother-day” from Gone with the Wind, I called Ann Scarle once,
and years later--with her nod--I s ll do.
By comparison, most people call me John, but other monikers have
been in play over the decades. Long before TV’s Dallas, my high
school buddies called me JR, and whenever the old gang gets together, I’m JR all over again. The ini als have followed me into the
workplace, as well. For the obvious reason, my nephew called me
Beard when he was small, and since I took to it, he and his brother-and their wives and my sister’s en re extended family--call me that
even now. Because of my early childhood appe te for fresh corn on
the cob, my Uncle Lee called me Cobbie, and did ll the day he died.
My mom called me Johnny. My wife does, too. Different names.
From different people. For different reasons. And I’ve embraced
them all.
Different names, from different people, for different reasons are
displayed in today’s Gospel text, too. “Behold, the Lamb of God,”
the Bap st says to two of his disciples as he watches Jesus pass by.
The two men follow Jesus, and when he asks the pair what they are
looking for, they ask him where he is staying. They begin, though, by
calling him “Rabbi,” (translated, Teacher). One of the two disciples-Andrew--goes next to his brother Simon and says, “We have found
the Messiah” (translated, Christ). Then Andrew brings his brother
directly to Jesus, who looks at him and says, “You are Simon, the son
of John; you will be called Cephas” (translated, Peter).
Per the old joke, “You can call me anything, just don’t call me late
for dinner.” Perhaps, but names are important. They define us on
the surface, certainly. And yet, they go much, much deeper. When
someone calls us by name--either our given name, or a nickname
assigned by a friend or loved one--the conversa on takes on a
whole new in macy. It’s interes ng that John’s naming of Jesus is
precisely the same as the priest’s naming of Jesus each me we prepare to receive Communion. “Behold the Lamb of God…” Christ.
Lord. Emmanuel. Savior. Friend. I name Jesus differently, depending
on the moment. Perhaps he names us differently, in like fashion.
John. JR. Cobbie. Scarle . Peter… Whatever he names us, may we
be s ll enough to hear--quiet enough to discern--this Divine in macy, and then follow the same advice Eli gives Samuel in the first
reading: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

wyręczać księży w czasie Mszy św. czy wręcz ich
zastąpić. Oni są nadzwyczajnymi szafarzami, czyli tymi,
którzy pomagają.

Kto was przyjmuje, Mnie
przyjmuje" (Mt 10,40) powiedział Chrystus do
Apostołów. Polecił im
również: "Gdy do jakiego
domu wejdziecie, najpierw
mówcie: Pokój temu domowi! Jeśli tam mieszka człowiek godny pokoju, wasz
pokój spocznie na nim" (Łk 10,5 - 6).
Przyjęcie kapłana z wizytą duszpasterską jest aktem
publicznego wyznania wiary. Nieprzypadkowo kolęda
odbywa się po świętach Bożego Narodzenia, kiedy to
wspominamy przyjście Boga na ziemię. Okres Bożego
Narodzenia jest czasem pogłębienia więzów z Bogiem,
z rodziną, jak również z parafią. Kolęda jest oficjalną
wizytą duszpasterską, dlatego przyjęcie kapłana w
naszych domach jest wyrazem naszej wiary i
przywiązania do Kościoła i duszpasterzy. Przede
wszystkim obejmuje ona wspólne dziękczynienie za
otrzymane łaski, prośbę o błogosławieństwo w nowym
roku. Modlitewne spotkanie kolędowe stanowi
wyznanie wiary rodziny, które powinno zgromadzić
wszystkich domowników.

W miesiącu lutym obchodzimy święto naszej patronki
św. Konstancji. W duchu jej poświęcenia, pracy dla
chorych i potrzebujących prosimy Was do wzięcia
udziału w programie "Anioł szkoły im. św.
Konstancji".
W ubiegłym roku program ten pomógł 13-stu
dzieciom z naszej parafialnej rodziny. Rodziny te
napotkała nieoczekiwana zmiana losu, niektórzy
rodzice stracili pracę, chorowali przez dłuższy czas,
czy też rachunki medyczne sprawiły, że rodziny te
potrzebowały pomocy.

W każdy wtorek w naszym kościele odbywa się Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu. Rozpoczynamy
o godz. 8:30 rano, a kończymy o 7:00 wieczorem. Koronka do Bożego Miłosierdzia o godzinie
3:00pm. W czasie całego dnia Adoracji można składać osobiste intencje do skrzynki, która znajduje
się na środku kościoła. W tych intencjach modlimy się na zakończenie adoracji o godz. 7:00
wieczorem oraz podczas Mszy św. o 7:15 w j. polskim. W ciągu całego dnia adoracji polecamy Panu

INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH
Bap sms… We celebrate Bap sms in the English language
on the first and third Sundays and in the Polish language
on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Parents
must par cipate in a Bap smal prepara on mee ng
before a date can be scheduled. To register for a mee ng
call the rectory secretary.
Weddings… The Archdiocese of Chicago requires
arrangements for weddings be made four months in
advance. We at St. Constance strongly recommend at least
six months before the date of marriage. You will need
to meet with our deacon / priest before any other
arrangements are made. Call the rectory for an
appointment.
Sacrament of the Sick… Call the Rectory to make
arrangements for a priest. Please do not wait un l the
person is unconscious or near death.
Communion Calls… If you or someone you love are ill or
home bound and would like to receive Communion, call
the rectory to make arrangements for regular visits.
Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i
polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w
języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są
zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego
sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o
skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu.
Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które
planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura
parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu. Chcielibyśmy i
usilnie zalecamy, aby w naszej parafii okres przygotowania trwać sześć
miesięcy. Prosimy, abyście najpierw ustalili termin w kościele, a następnie
w innych miejscach. Zapraszamy więc do naszego biura parafialnego
najwcześniej jak tylko jest to możliwe .
Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych… Prosimy o kontakt z księdzem w celu
ustalenia terminu przyjęcia tego sakramentu. Przypominamy, że nie wolno
zwlekać z udzieleniem sakramentu chorych do momentu kiedy osoba
będzie nieprzytomna lub bliska śmierci.
Komunia Święta dla chorych… Jeśli ktoś z was lub waszych bliskich
choruje i chciałby przyjąć Komunię Świętą, to prosimy o zgłoszenie osoby
chorej do biura parafialnego, do osoby odpowiedzialnej za Duszpasterstwo
