Sister Maximilia Olejnik, a Sister of
St. Joseph of the Third Order of St.
Francis will be celebrating her 75th
anniversary of religious life on Saturday, June 14th in Bartlett, IL. Sister
Maximilia served the people of St.
Mary of Czestochowa intermittently
as a teacher and sacristan for many
years. In 2002 she retired to the Sisters’ Congregational Home in Bartlett, IL. While the new Retirement
Home “Clare Oaks” in Bartlett, IL was under construction, Sister had to move to Lourdes Convent in Chicago, IL. In 2006 she
moved back to Bartlett and is now residing in the Assisted Living quarters in Clare Oaks where her ministry now is one of
prayer. A Mass of Thanksgiving for all of the Sisters who are
celebrating their anniversaries will be celebrated in the newly
renovated chapel in Clare Oaks. If you would like to send Sister
a congratulatory note she can be reached at 825 Carillon Drive,
Apartment 132. Bartlett, IL 60103.
Next Sunday, June 15th we will hold our first
Early Bird Raffle at the 9AM Mass for a
chance to win $100. The second Early Bird
drawing for $100 will take place on Sunday,
July 13th at the 10:30 A.M. Mass. Those
who have sold all ten raffle tickets and have
made payment for them will be eligible to win in the Early Bird
raffles. The cover of the raffle book will be used for the drawing.
More raffle books can be obtained at the rectory office.
The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver are visiting our parish
this weekend. They will be at all entrances of the church with
their magazine “Echo from Africa and Other Continents.” The
Sisters will ask you to subscribe to this magazine which will inform you about the progress of our holy faith in the mission
lands and about the needs of the missionaries. By helping them
you will share in their daily prayers and their work for the missionary church.

A bulletin board detailing the history and contributions of St.
Mary of Czestochowa School will be displayed at the world
famous Chicago History Museum. The bulletin board will be
displayed within the much celebrated “Catholic Chicago”- an
exhibit currently running at the museum.
Art displayed on the board was created by current Czestochowa students; Maria Elena Martinez, Ivonne Duran, and
Salvador Galvez.
Also on display will be books authored by Czestochowa
graduates: Bishop Aloysius Wycislo and Theresa M.
Szczurek, PhD.; and T.Alan Brenner, a school staff members.
Other great moments in the school’s history, and those
touching the wider society are chronicled in the display.
Educating children and forming Catholic families since
1895. our parish school has helped produce, authors, mayors,
doctors, nurses, a bishop, priests and religious sisters and
many others who have been of great service to society. One
of the school’s founders and first teacher, Theodore Mlyniec’s
great grandson is a Professor of Law at Georgetown University.
The school is now accepting new registrations for PreSchool through Gr. 8. More information about the school can

The Ministry of the Deacon
A deacon is a man who is called by God to a ministry of service. With
bishops and priests, the deacon receives the Sacrament of Holy Orders. He is an ordained minister, who may be married and have children, living in the lifestyle of the laity.
Deacons are called to a three-fold ministry of service - of the Word,
Liturgy, and Charity & Justice and live out their life in service to Jesus
and their brothers and sisters in Christ.

Matthew 9:9-13
As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a
man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him. While he
was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this
and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax
collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are
well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the
meaning of the words, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.” I did
not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
The final line of today’s Gospel sets the tone the scriptures will
echo in the coming weeks. Sometimes we coast through a humdrum life, not really reflecting on our attitudes and actions. This
kind of unconsciousness can lead us into a complacency that
can be likened to the self-righteousness exhibited by the Pharisees in today’s Gospel. We can look around us and judge the
behaviors of others without first taking a good hard look at our
own. The Lord came to save us from our sinful behaviors and
attitudes. As this long portion of the Church’s Ordinary Time
opens before us, let us cast off complacency and selfrighteousness and name our own sins, asking the Lord to deliver us from the power these sins hold over us. Ask the Lord
Jesus to deliver you from complacency and to heal you from
your sins.

Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, for a prayer service, followed by his reflection on the time he spent at Pope Benedict XVI’s side during the Holy Father’s recent visit to the United
States.
The Cardinal will discuss the impact of the Holy Father’s visit on the
American Catholic Church, and the current and future influence of
the visit’s theme, Christ Our Hope, on three occasions. Each event
begins at 7 p.m.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, sentado sobre el mostrador de los impuestos, y le
dijo: Sígueme. Él se levantó y lo siguió. Y estando
en la mesa en casa de Mateo, muchos publicanos y
pecadores, que habían acudido, se sentaron con Jesús
y sus discípulos, Los fariseos al verlo preguntaron a
los discípulos: ¿Cómo es que vuestro Maestro come
con publicanos y pecadores? Jesús los oyó y les dijo:
No tienen necesidad de médico los sanos, sino los
enfermos. Andad, aprended lo que significa:
“misericordia quiero y no sacrificios”, que no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores.

del Santísimo Sacramento. Cada Miércoles tenemos la Adoración todo el día. Por
eso les invitamos a encontrar el tiempo
para Cristo e inscribirse para una o dos

Les avisamos que está la Rifa Parroquial
se va a efectuar el día 24 de Agosto. Todos los que no son registrados en nuestra
parroquia pueden comprarla. El premio
principal es de $3000. El costo de un ticket es de $10. El ticket se puede adquirir a la salida
de la iglesia o en la oficina parroquial. Primer sorteo
adelantado de esta rifa con un premio de $100 vamos
a tener el día15 de Junio en la Misa a las 9:00AM. En
este sorteo van a participar las personas cuales han
comprado los 10 ticket y junto con el dinero han regresado a la rectoría antes de 15 de Junio.

A la salida de la iglesia se encuentran
los sobres para el Día de los Padres. No
hay mejor regalo que encargar la Misa
por nuestros padres vivos o difuntos.

catecismo (CCD) de año 2007/2008.
Las inscripciones para nuevo año de
2008/2009 se realizarán el día jueves 12 de Agosto de 2008. También
las formas de registro pueden dejar en la rectoría junto con el pago y la copia de certificado de bautismo.

San Bernabé Apóstol - 11 de Junio
“José, llamado por los Apóstoles Bernabé, que
quiere decir hijo de consolación, levita, natural
de Chipre, tenía un campo; lo vendió y llevó el
dinero a los pies de los Apóstoles”. Así nos lo
presentan los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Antiguas
fuentes refieren que Bernabé, llamado Apóstol
por Los mismos Hechos, aunque no pertenecía a
los Doce, fue probablemente uno de los setenta
discípulos de los que habla el Evangelio. En todo caso es una
figura de primer plano en la fervorosa comunidad cristiana, que
se formó en Jerusalén después de Pentecostés. Los Apóstoles
tenían mucho aprecio a Bernabé y lo escogieron para la evangelización de Antioquía.
Bernabé es el hombre de las grandes intuiciones. En Antioquía
se dio cuenta inmediatamente de que ese era un terreno apto
para sembrar la palabra de Dios. Fue a decirlo a Jerusalén y pidió la aprobación para ir en busca del neoconvertido Saulo, sacándolo de su retiro en Tarso. Así comenzó su extraordinaria
asociación. Después de un año de trabajo, habían logrado tantas
conversiones que “hicieron noticia”, como se diría hay en el
lenguaje periodístico. Dicen los Hechos de los Apóstoles: “Por
primera vez los discípulos tomaron el nombre de cristianos en
Antioquía”.
Saulo, que ahora prefería usar el nombre romano de Pablo, y
Bernabé, satisfechos por haber abierto el camino al anuncio
evangélico entre los paganos, partieron hacia otros lugares. Primera etapa Chipre, patria de Bernabé, que había llevado consigo
a su joven primo Juan Marcos, el futuro evangelista. Otra magnifica elección, aunque más tarde, al comienzo del segundo y
más peligroso viaje misionero, el joven no estaba muy decidido
y Pablo no creyó oportuno cambiar el programa, y prefirió separarse inclusive de Bernabé, que se quedó en Chipre.
Pablo y Bernabé, dos personalidades diferentes, que se complementan mutuamente. En Listra, al final del primer viaje misionero, durante la predicación Pablo notó la presencia de un pobre
tullido. “Levántate y camina”, le dijo. Y el tullido quedó curado.
“La muchedumbre, al ver lo que Pablo había hecho, comenzó a
gritar: ¡Los dioses en forma humana han bajado hasta nosotros!
Y a Bernabé lo llamaban Júpiter, y a Pablo Mercurio, porque era
el más elocuente de los dos”. A Bernabé se le atribuye la paternidad de la Carta paulina a los Hebreos y de otro escrito, llamado El Evangelio de Bernabé, ahora perdido. Después que se
separó de Pablo, no se tienen más noticias de Bernabé. Escritos
apócrifos hablan de un viaje a Roma y de su martirio, hacia el
año 70, en Salamina, por mano de los judíos de la diáspora que
lo lapidaron.
El día 13 de Junio se celebra la Fiesta de San Antonio
de Padua.
Uno de los santos que más se han granjeado el corazón
y la estima del pueblo cristiano es San Antonio. Llámasele, según famosa frase de León XIII, «el santo de
todo el mundo»; pero es conocido, amado e invocado
preferentemente por el pueblo humilde, que ha vislumbrado en él al dispensador de los tesoros celestiales y al protector
decidido de los intereses de los pobres. La historia, principalmente la más antigua biografía del Santo paduano, conocida por el
nombre de Assidua, nos da en síntesis una perfecta semblanza del
mismo.

siedział w domu za stołem, przyszło wielu celników i
grzeszników i siedzieli wraz z Jezusem i Jego uczniami.
Widząc to, faryzeusze mówili do Jego uczniów: Dlaczego
wasz Nauczyciel jada wspólnie z celnikami i grzesznikami? On, usłyszawszy to, rzekł: Nie potrzebują lekarza
zdrowi, lecz ci, którzy się źle mają. Idźcie i starajcie się
zrozumieć, co znaczy: Chcę raczej miłosierdzia niż ofiary. Bo nie przyszedłem powołać sprawiedliwych, ale
grzeszników.

11 czerwca - Święty Barnaba, Apostoł
Barnaba urodził się na Cyprze w żydowskiej rodzinie z pokolenia Lewiego. Jego
właściwe imię brzmiało Józef, ale Apostołowie dali mu przydomek Barnaba. Według Klemensa Aleksandryjskiego i Euzebiusza miał on należeć do 72 uczniów
Pana Jezusa. Był krewnym św. Marka
Ewangelisty, dlatego św. Paweł nazywa
go kuzynem Ewangelisty (Kol 4, 10). Św.
Barnaba zapewne razem ze św. Pawłem przybył do Jerozolimy, aby u stóp Gamaliela, znanego rabina - uczonego
żydowskiego, pogłębić swoją wiedzę w zakresie religii
mojżeszowej. Był człowiekiem dobrym, pełnym Ducha
Świętego i wiary (Dz 11, 24). Barnaba jest patronem Florencji i Mediolanu, w którym według tradycji nauczał;
czczony jest także jako orędownik podczas kłótni, sporów,
smutku oraz burz gradowych. W ikonografii św. Barnaba
przedstawiany jest jako starszy mężczyzna z długą brodą w
tunice i płaszczu albo w szatach biskupich, czasami jako
kardynał. Jego atrybutami są: ewangeliarz, zwój pergaminu, gałązka oliwna, halabarda, model kościoła.

13 czerwca - Święty Antoni z Padwy,
prezbiter i doktor Kościoła
Ferdynand Bulonne urodził się w Lizbonie w 1195 r. Pomiędzy 15, a 20
rokiem życia wstąpił do Kanoników
Regularnych Św. Augustyna, którzy
mieli swój klasztor na przedmieściu
Lizbony. Tam był dwa lata, po czym
przeniósł się do klasztoru w Coimbrze,
które to miasto, obok Lizbony, było
drugim ośrodkiem życia religijnego i kulturalnego kraju.
Tam zdobył gruntowne wykształcenie teologiczne i w roku 1219 otrzymał święcenia kapłańskie.
W rok potem Ferdynand był świadkiem pogrzebu pięciu
franciszkanów zamordowanych przez mahometan w Maroko. Z tej okazji po raz pierwszy usłyszał o duchowych
synach św. Franciszka z Asyżu i natychmiast wstąpił do
nich w Olivanez, gdzie osiedlili się przy kościółku św.
Antoniego Pustelnika. Z tej okazji Ferdynand zmienił
swoje imię na Antoni. Zapalony duchem męczeńskiej
ofiary, postanowił udać się do Afryki, by w Maroko oddać
swoje życie dla Chrystusa. Jednak plany Boże były inne.
Antoni zachorował śmiertelnie i musiał wracać do ojczyzny. Jednakże na Morzu Śródziemnym zastała go burza i
zapędziła jego statek na Sycylię. Właśnie w roku 1221
odbywała się w Asyżu kapituła generalna nowego zakonu.
Antoni udał się tam i spotkał się ze św. Franciszkiem (+
1226). Po skończonej kapitule oddał się pod władzę brata
Gracjana, prowincjała Emilii i Romanii, który mu wyznaczył erem w Montepaolo w pobliżu Forli. Czas wykorzystał na pogłębienie w sobie życia wewnętrznego i dla swoich studiów. Ze szczególnym zamiłowaniem zagłębiał się

obrazowy i plastyczny język, postawa ascetyczna, żar i
towarzyszące mu cuda gromadziły przy nim tak wielkie
tłumy, że musiał głosić kazania na placach, gdyż żaden
kościół nie mógł pomieścić słuchaczy.
Obdarzony wielu charyzmatami - miał dar bilokacji, czytania w ludzkich sumieniach, proroctwa. Przy śpiewie O
gloriosa Virginum w Arcella wieczorem w piątek, 13
czerwca 1231 roku, oddał Bogu ducha mając zaledwie 36
lat.
Św. Antoni Padewski jest patronem zakonów: franciszkanów, antoninek oraz wielu bractw; Padwy, Lizbony, Padeborn, Splitu; dzieci, górników, małżeństw, narzeczonych,
położnic, ubogich, podróżnych, ludzi i rzeczy zaginionych.
W ikonografii św. Antoni przedstawiany jest w habicie
franciszkańskim; nieraz głosi kazanie, czasami trzyma
Dziecię Jezus, które mu się wg legendy.
