About Puławy
Puławy is a town in eastern Poland located on the eastern bank of the Vistula river, approximately
120 km South-East from Warsaw with a total population of 50 000 inhabitants. Puławy was traditionally
an important scientific centre and this tradition is still being continued and is exemplified by the presence
of numerous scientific institutions, mostly associated with agriculture. A large chemical plant “Zakłady
Azotowe”, the biggest producer of Melamine in the
world, is located North of the town. There are also
numerous places of historical interest in Puławy, the
baroque-classicist palace and park complex being the
landmark of the town. Close by is Kazimierz Dolny, a charming village with
a little old market square,
ruins of the medieval castle, and Renaissance houses. Both towns are surrounded by forests, hills, valleys
and ravines and this picturesque location attracts many tourists.
The meeting venue
The meeting will be held at the Veterinary Centre of Postgraduate Training located at the same
premise as the NVRI (Al. Partyzantóww 57, 24-100 Pulawy, www.piwet.pulawy.pl/wckp). The lecture
theatre has a capacity of 222 people, with the possibility of division into two smaller rooms (139 and 83
people) separated by soundproofing panel and equipped with all modern multimedia facilities.
Additionally, 4 seminar rooms for 55, 48, 18 and 8 people (two of them equipped with multimedia
projectors) are also available.
Currency
In Poland the currency is Polish zloty (PLN). Please note that due to unstable exchange rate it is
hard to predict the price of EUR/GBP/USD and other currencies in December. At the moment (end of
July) 1 EUR=4.36 PLN, 1 GBP=5.22 PLN, 1 USD = 3,97 PLN.
Travel information
The main airport in Poland is Warsaw Chopin airport. If someone arrives in Warsaw Modlin
airport please let us know.
At the Warsaw Chopin airport railway station take line S3 of SKM company (Szybka Kolej
Miejska - Fast Urban Railway) or line RL of Koleje Mazowieckie (Masovian Railways) to the railway
station WARSZAWA CENTRALNA (approx. 20 minutes). Trains to PULAWY MIASTO leave
WARSZAWA CENTRALNA every 2 h 30 min. WARSZAWA CENTRALNA can be also reached either
by bus (line 175) or by taxi and it usually takes about 25-45 minutes depending on traffic. The TAXI fares
vary depending on the carrier. Please keep in mind that the station of destination is “PUŁAWY MIASTO”
and is preceded by station “DĘBLIN”. The last train to Pulawy leaves Warszawa Centralna at 19.50. For
those who arrive later in Warsaw (after 18.00), the local organizer will organize bus transport from the
Warsaw airport to Pulawy. We would kindly ask those of you who arrive after 18.00 that you send your
flight information details to [email protected] as soon as possible. This information is necessary
in order to arrange bus transport to Pulawy. The participants who arrive before 18.00 and travel to Pulawy
by train, you can either buy a ticket at the Warsaw Central station or buy your ticket online using the
following link http://rozklad-pkp.pl/en.
When planning your travel back from Pulawy to Warsaw, please keep in mind that currently the
main building of the railway station in Pulawy is under major reconstruction and it is not possible to buy
a ticket at the station, only in the train from the ticket inspector or online. We suggest the latter option
(see link above). During the conference there will be a person at the registration desk who can help you
with the suggestions regarding travel as well as book and print the ticket.
In Pulawy, it takes about 5 minutes to walk to NVRI and its hotel. The PRIMA hotel is located
across the street. If you are accommodated in other hotels (see below), please take a taxi at the station.
Accomodation
The participants will be staying in five hotels (see location on the map below):
1) hotel NVRI - Veterinary Centre of Postgraduate Training (conference facility, Al. Partyzantów 57)
2) hotel “Prima” (Al. Partyzantów 44, 24-100 Pulawy)
3) hotel “Gościniec nad Wisłą” (ul. Dęblińska 3, 24-100 Puławy)
4) hotel “Trzy Korony” (ul. 6 sierpnia 43 B, 24-100 Puławy)
5) hotel “Pikul” (ul. Lubelska 65, 24-100 Puławy)
The local organizers kindly request the participants not to book rooms by themselves but only
provide relevant details on the online registration form and, optionally, send travel details or
accommodation preferences to [email protected] indicating the message subject “Hotel”. Hotel
rooms will be booked on your behalf and the participant will receive a confirmation about hotel
reservation by e-mail. Shuttle services will be provided to and from hotels “Gościniec nad Wisłą”, “Pikul”
and “Trzy Korony”.
Conference fee
The participants who are not reimbursed by COST Action will pay a conference fee of 200 EUR.
The fee includes book-of-abstracts, lunches, coffees breaks, gala dinners and shuttles. Please transfer your

Social programme
For those who wish, the local organizers are planning to arrange an after-conference trip to
Białowieża National Park, a primeval forest abundant with wildlife, including European bisons, wolves,
lynx, deer, wild boar. For more information go to http://bpn.com.pl/index.php?lang=en. Due to the
expected unfavourable weather conditions in December, the buses will leave from Puławy to Białowieża
on the 8th of December after lunch with an overnight stay in local hotels in Białowieża, and visit in the
National Park on the 9th of December (until lunch).
Please note that the trip to Białowieza is not reimbursed from COST and each participant will have
to pay separately for this event. The cost of transport will be provided later (we are currently negotiating
prices).
Here is a draft programme of the visit:
8th December:
19.00–20.00 arrival in Bialowieza, accommodation in the hotel Zubrowka – approx. 300 PLN/night
(≈80 EUR/night) – We will book the hotel for you based on the registration form you provided.
9th December:
7.30–9.00 Breakfast
9.00–12.00 Visit in the Park

After visit to Bialowieza (around midday on the 9th of December) the bus(es) will go first to Warsaw
Chopin airport and then to the Warsaw city center (if some participants wish to stay overnight in Warsaw).
When planning your trip back home on the 9th, please remember that the duration of travel from
Bialowieza to Warsaw is approximately 4,5 hours so please consider only the evening flights.
