PARISH FUNDRAISER
The next event that is being planned to
raise the necessary funds for our parish is
a POLKA MASS with DENNIS MOTYKA
and THE GOOD TIMES BAND on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the
9:00AM Mass. There will be a lunch (by ticket only) in Makuch
Hall after the Mass. The cost of the lunch ticket is $15.00 for
adults and $9.00 for children under 12yrs. of age. Tickets will be
available after all Masses beginning the weekend of March 1718. Tickets will also be available at the rectory during office
hours or by calling Terry Zaworski (708) 656-0425 or Mary Warchol (708) 652-4548. We need to have a count for the food no
later than Friday, April 6th and the final count deadline will be
Thursday, April 16th; so plan to purchase your tickets early if
you intend to participate in the lunch. The food will be catered
from the VFW in Summit, IL.
A free door prize, a liquor basket raffle, a raffle for prizes and a
Split the Pot raffle will take place during the lunch. Music, dancing and fun for all is promised to all who attend!
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In his first encyclical, God Is Love, Pope Benedict XVI wrote,
"Love is the light - and in the end, the only light - that can
illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed
to continue living and working."
With a sense of compassion and generosity, Catholics from our
Archdiocese as well as others throughout the United States,
can illuminate just such a world that, for decades, has been
dominated by communism. By supporting the Collection to Aid
the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, we can bring the
light of Christ's love to distant places in need of fully trained
catechists, youth ministers and reconstructed churches.
As we continue to strive for a sense of solidarity within our parishes, our Archdiocese and, in particular, the Universal Church,
it is critical that we concretely demonstrate our support for
those in countries less fortunate than our own. On behalf of
those once covered by a pall of darkness in Central and Eastern Europe, thank you for your generosity.

The school children will pray the Way of the
Cross on Tuesdays during Lent at 2:00pm.
On all Fridays during Lent the Way of the
Cross will be prayed in English after the 8am
Mass.
Religious Education
The next Religion Education session will be held on
Saturday March 17, 2007 from 8am to 10am.
The CCD students that will be receiving their First
Holy Communion in May, 2007 will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Saturday, March 17th. Parents of these students are invited to come to the
church at 8:30am to witness and support the children at this important time in their lives.
Polish American Association
The Career Center together with the Employment Services of
the Polish American Association invites you to attend a free
information session with a representative of a local Social Security office. The presentation will cover the following:
1) Review of the Social Security programs
2) How to use the available interpretation services
3) Individual SS benefits and survivors’ benefits
4) Instruction on filling out form SSA-827

The Liturgy of the Word for the 2nd Sunday of
Lent
Exodus 17:3-7: From a burning bush God
promises redemption.
Psalm 103: “The Lord is kind and merciful.”
1 Corinthians 10: 1-6, 10-12: Do not grumble as
the Israelites did.
Luke 13: 1-9: The just may suffer. The fruitless may get a second
chance.
It all started so well: God’s protective cloud overshadowed them.
He fed them with manna in the wilderness. He even made water flow
from a rock! So why did it take the Israelites forty years to get to the
Promised Land? And why did so few who set out survive the journey? Wasn’t God powerful enough?
We may as well ask the same question about ourselves. We have
been made a new creation through the waters of baptism. We eat the
spiritual food of the Eucharist. We have the protective cloud of the
Holy Spirit. So why aren’t we living in the complete holiness that all
these blessings should be guaranteeing us?
Fr. Raniero Contalamessa, who is the preacher to the papal household, explains this mystery through the concept of a “bound” sacrament: A sacrament is called “bound “ if the fruit that should accompany it remains tied up because of certain blocks that prevent its
effectiveness. An extreme example of this is the Sacrament of Matrimony or Holy Orders received in the state of mortal sin. In such circumstances, these sacraments cannot grant any grace until the obstacle of sin is removed through the sacrament Reconciliation. Once
this happens, the sacrament is said to live again thanks to the indelible character and irrevocability of the gift of God.
“The sacraments are not magical rituals that act mechanically. Their
effectiveness is the fruit of cooperation between divine omnipotence
and human freedom, because as St. Augustine said, ‘He who created you without your cooperation will not save you without your cooperation.’”
God never stops pouring grace upon grace into our hearts. The
sacraments can be renewed and revitalized in our lives. How?
Through repentance, by yielding to the Spirit’s movements, and by
obeying the word of God. When God’s grace and our response come
together, we can experience true breakthroughs. Miracles really are
possible!
“Jesus, I surrender to you and ask you to release your Spirit in me.
Lord, I want to live in your victory!”

Impulsados por un sentido de compasión y generosidad,
los católicos de nuestra arquidiócesis y de otros lugares
de todo Estados Unidos, pueden iluminar ese mundo
que fue dominado por el comunismo durante décadas.
Apoyando la Colecta para Ayudar a la Iglesia en Europa
Central y Europa del Este, podemos llevar la luz del
amor de Cristo a lugares distantes que necesitan catequistas plenamente capacitados, ministros para la juventud y la reconstrucción de centros de culto.
Que Nuestro Señor continúe bendiciéndolos, a ustedes
y a sus seres queridos, ahora que vivimos con un sentido de solidaridad dentro de nuestras parroquias, nuestra
arquidiócesis y la Iglesia universal, en particular. A

W tym czasie przyszli niektórzy i donieśli Mu o Galilejczykach, których krew Piłat zmieszał z krwią ich
ofiar. Jezus im odpowiedział: Czyż myślicie, że ci Galilejczycy byli większymi grzesznikami niż inni
mieszkańcy Galilei, że to ucierpieli? Bynajmniej, powiadam wam; lecz jeśli się nie nawrócicie, wszyscy
podobnie zginiecie. Albo myślicie, że owych osiemnastu, na których zwaliła się wieża w Siloam i zabiła ich,
było większymi winowajcami niż inni mieszkańcy
Jerozolimy? Bynajmniej, powiadam wam; lecz jeśli
się nie nawrócicie, wszyscy tak samo zginiecie. I opowiedział im następującą przypowieść: Pewien człowiek miał drzewo figowe zasadzone w swojej winnicy; przyszedł i szukał na nim owoców, ale nie znalazł.
Rzekł więc do ogrodnika: Oto już trzy lata, odkąd
przychodzę i szukam owocu na tym drzewie figowym,
a nie znajduję. Wytnij je: po co jeszcze ziemię wyjaławia? Lecz on mu odpowiedział: Panie, jeszcze na ten
rok je pozostaw; ja okopię je i obłożę nawozem; może
wyda owoc. A jeśli nie, w przyszłości możesz je wyciąć.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,
W swoje pierwszej encyklice, „Bóg jest miłością" Ojciec
Święty, Benedykt XVI napisał: "Miłość jest światłem - w
gruncie rzeczy jedynym -która zawsze na nowo rozprasza
mroki ciemnego świata i daje nam odwagę do życia i działania."
Współczucie i szczodrość okazywane przez katolików z naszej, a także innych diecezji z terenu całych Stanów Zjednoczonych mogą rozświetlić taki właśnie świat zdominowany
przez dziesięciolecia przez system komunistyczny. Wsparcie
jakiego udzielicie podczas Kolekty na Rzecz Pomocy Kościołowi w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej umożliwi zaniesienie światła Chrystusowej miłości do odległych miejsc,
gdzie trzeba odpowiednio przygotowanych katechetów,
duszpasterzy ludzi młodych oraz odbudowanych miejsc kultu.
Oby dobry Bóg błogosławił nadal Warn i Waszym bliskim,
a owocem tego błogosławieństwa niech będzie przeżywanie
każdego dnia w głębokim poczuciu jedności jako członkowie parafii, archidiecezji, oraz całego Kościoła Powszechnego. Dziękuję za waszą szczodrość w imieniu mieszkańców
krajów Europy Wschodniej i Środkowej do niedawna jeszcze pogrążonych w ciemności.

Słowo misja dotyczy w swym najgłębszym znaczeniu samego Trójjedynego Boga, który w swej wielkiej
miłości wychodzi do człowieka. Bóg Ojciec tak bardzo pragnie zbawienia grzesznej ludzkości, że posyła na świat swego Syna, który w tajemnicy wcielenia
przyjmuje ludzką naturę i umiera za nas na krzyżu.
Daje nam także Ducha Świętego, aby działał w głębi
ludzkich serc, prowadził i uświęcał założony przez
Jezusa Kościół. To właśnie Kościołowi Chrystus powierzył kontynuowanie swej zbawczej misji.
Już dziś serdecznie zapraszamy na Misje
Święte – czas szczególnej łaski, dany
nam, aby na nowo odkryć dar wiary oraz
przyjąć Bożą miłość. Zechciejmy nasze
codzienne problemy i zmagania zawierzyć Bogu. Otwórzmy się na dar Słowa, aby w Jego
świetle poszukać odpowiedzi na pytania, jakie stawia nam życie. Zaplanujmy już dziś ten tydzień tak,
aby w pełni wykorzystać ów niezwykły czas! Misje

Archidiecezji. Czytając ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje np. „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
