He got ordained on 12.06.1932 in Poznań. From 01.12.1938 till 26.08.1940 he was st John the Baptist parish priest in Chomiąża Szlachecka. He remained in the memories of the parishioners as extremely zealous and devoted to his mission minister. He was an educator, shepherd and teacher to many residents of this parish. The German invader arrested Fr Bernard Pawlicki on 26.08.1940, as part of a meticulous plan to exterminate whole Polish priesthood. The parish got orphaned, left without a priest till the end of war. The faithful were not able to receive holy sacraments and priestly ministry. The church was closed and the rectory became a German police post. After arrest he was first transported to a Szczeglin n. Modlin [transit camp] and next on 29.08.1940 to Sachsenhausen [concentration camp]. On 14.12.1940 he arrived at the gates of Dachau [concentration camp], where mainly priests, religious and nuns were held. There he slaved on herbal plantations digging drainage ditches and pits. In his zeal he was helping the weaker ones taking their workload on himself. After contracting typhoid he died from extreme exhaustion the martyrs death on 01.08.1943 falling on the roll-call square. Co-prisoner Fr Roman Budniak took him in his arms and gave him an absolution. He gave his life in the arms of fellow priest. His young life of 25 years he gave for faith and his country. In 1970 through the initiative of Fr Zdislaus Lipiński the then parish priest of Chomiąża Szlachecka a commemorative plaque was made, endowed by the parishioners in tribute to extraordinary qualities and character traits, specifically martyrs death, of Fr Bernard Pawlicki. It was unveiled on 20th of December 1970 by Fr Pawlicki’s friends. The Mass was celebrated by Prelate Fr dr Stanislaus Wiśniewski, the plaque was consecrated and the homily made by Prelate Fr Anthony Majchrzak. It was for the first time in 30 years that the parishioners were able to hear and find out about last days of life in Dachau of their parish priest Fr Bernard Pawlicki. The article has been based on „Chomiąża Szlachecka parish history” monographic sketch published in 1988.
