TRAINING SIMULATOR FOR BMP-765 DRIVER
TMK-ORTLES/2001
The TMK-ORTLES/2001 training simulator is designed to provide driving training for drivers of BMP-765
infantry combat vehicles in various terrain types, weather conditions, seasons, in the day and night time with
the hatch close.
The training comprises the following tasks for the BWP-765 driver:
•
operating the BMP-765 control mechanisms;
•
starting the engine under various weather conditions;
•
developing a habit to observe engine operating parameters,
•
starting and stopping the engine under different terrain conditions,
•
driving a combat vehicle on simulated route of diverse difficulty level,
•
driving through natural and artificial obstacles (water obstacle, limited passage, bridge, antitank ditch
etc.);
•
driving in reduced visibility conditions and in night time.
The simulator incorporates four types of terrain: flat terrain with the summer scene, undulating with the
summer and winter scene, each of 4x6 km and a BMP-765 driving course yard of 1,5 x 2,5 km with three
practise routes:
•
obstacles and barrages route,
•
limited passages route,
•
water route.
The simulator can operate in self-training mode. In that case the mistakes made by the trainee during an
exercise are displayed on the operational monitor. Alternatively the training can be supervised by the
instructor from the instructor station.
The simulator has built in test procedures for quick checking of its subassemblies.

Training methods:
Three modes of training are available:
•
TEACHING - the system with the aid of "help screens" and voice commands shows step by step actions to
be performed to complete the selected task,
•
SELF-TRAINING - actions are not guided but the trainee can call a help,
•
EXAMINATION - task performance is evaluated without possibility to call help during the exercise.
Input parameters:
•
air and engine temperature
•
visibility (fog),
•
terrain lighting,
•
obstacles relating parameter.
Training evaluation:
For all exercises the simulator records the following data:
•
vehicle speed, engine revolutions, gears used,
•
distance covered,
•
average speed ,
•
exercise performance time,
•
kind and number of mistakes made.
After the task is completed, the simulator automatically generates exercise results comprising training data
and list of mistakes made by the trainee. "After Action Review" function is also available
.
Trainees data base:
Data stored in the data base allow to observe training progress of BWP-765 drivers. The training simulator
generates comprehensive set of training reports covering selected period of time for:

individual driver or group of drivers,
•
selected exercise.
